Rosie's Angsty Pre-"View" Poetry

Rosie O'Donnell is clearly conflicted about her upcoming debut as a co-host on "The View" -- and she's letting her feelings spill out for all to read. On her blog, O'Donnell has given her fans and observers a taste of what she's been thinking in advance of joining Barbara, Joy, and Elisabeth at the kaffeeklatsch, almost in real-time and in a stripped-down shorthand (and all-lower-case) verse that might best described as Hai-M.

Last Thursday, she caused a minor stir when she reacted to having seen the new "View" promos, in which she's portrayed as just one of the girls. "It will be hard 4 me/2 not b/the boss," she wrote. But Friday, she did something of an about-face, writing, "I am excited about the view ... hoping they all like me ... cuz there is nothing better/than being a cast member."

And then yesterday, Rosie described an interaction at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmys (pictured above) with a reporter from Access Hollywood, who apparently asked her if she was happy about her former nemesis Star Jones' firing. Rosie wouldn't take the bait, according to her: "It would not have been fun for me/fighting everyday/life is 2 short."

Though her unabashed self-explication is certain to continue to make (little) waves, Rosie herself explains that it's just a way to work things out: "The discord is internal/inside myself. . .feelings are not fights." Rosie's full poetic discourse on "The View," complied into a mini-anthology, follows.

The Pre-"View"

by Rosie O'Donnell

i saw the new view promos
and found myself in the position
i loathe most
powerless

it will be hard 4 me
2 not b
the boss
it is already
and we have only just begun

i am excited about the view
like a new kid on the first day of school
hoping they all like me
that i fit in
cuz there is nothing better
then being a cast member

access hollywood
asked if i was happy
star was gone
b4 i could reply he added
- i would have loved 2 c u 2 go at it
smiling

it would not have been fun for me
fighting everyday
life is 2 short

422. I think Rosie is great, I may not agree with everything she says or does, but I can't think of anyone who is perfect. So what if she is gay, I am so sick of people using a persons sexual preference to define who they are. (By the way I'm not gay, which is also irrelvent.)and as for the name calling, about her size, looks etc. That has nothing to do with her actions, she has donated to countless charities and groups. If you have to resort to name-calling, that makes your views very shallow and childlike. If you don't like her, don't watch the show. I think the fact that she shows she is a real person bothers people. Good Luck Rosie!!

423. Rosie and Barbara both need to grow up, seriously. Barbara talked about giving Star an opportunity to leave the show with "dignity". Barabra, Star did leave the show with "dignity" and it is too bad you chose to stay without dignity. You are too old to be behaving as you did.

In addition Barbara, when you were on twenty/ twenty with Hugh Downs you had no problem stepping into his position as lead anchor of the show. You even had the nerve to take the slogan that he originally stated at the end of each show for many years before you came. It didn't appear to bother you what affect it seem to have on his spirit. Typical Barbara...it's easy to step on someone elses toes, but when it happens to you it doesn't feel so good, does it?
Like I stated above, you have been through the mill for quite a few years, and you should have handled the situation with Star and the show in a more sophisticated manner. Perhaps you are slipping, that would be a nice thought. But as I illustrated above with the Hugh Downs situtation on 20/20, your venom runs true. Charlene

424. I use to be a view fan, but, not anymore. With Star and Meridith gone, I do not plan to upset my mornings with the Big Mouth.

427. Rosie O will send the View's ratings downhill for sure. And I agree with the person who wrote "who is she that she has to know or care what someone does with their body." She needs to consider doing something to her own. Rosie is not a good match for the View and I do believe the show is history. And if the ratings were slacking off I believe Elizabeth fan base is and was much smaller than Star's.

428. I used to like the Rosie Show and I have enjoyed The View but I think they are in the past for me. I doubt if the View survives unless BW has some kind of a deal. There is little class left to the show and it isn't about to improve. I have no problem with Rosie's sexual orientation but her big mouth and nasty attitude isn't entertaining. Yes, Elizabeth is shallow and too "blond". Meredith is missed as is Star. Who would have thought that Joy would end up the glue that could hold things together. She is the most "real" member of the gang.

429. Am I the only person who likes Rosie? You people forget all the good she has, and does for so many people of need! Millions, and millions of dollars of her money goes to wonderful charities. I am one of thoughs socker moms who thinks she is doing a great job raising her kids.
She has made me laugh for years. I give her a lot of credit for being open and honest. That's hard to do in life, let alone on TV.
I don't know how she will work with Ms B, but I thing she and Joy will be great together! I am looking forward to a lot more laughs!

430. I cannot believe the things that are in all the previous comments. I am a 55 year old gay woman and I am frankly offended at way Rosie is being portrayed. She is always honest and has done some wonderful things for many people. I think she will be a refreshing addition to The View and its about time people stop referring to her as Gay. The others are not called Straight, What difference
does it make whom she chooses to love, its no ones business. Go for it Rosie, I for one am very proud of you and all you have done for people gay and straight.

431. rosie is rude, the show already have ugly people. they need people on there of class and style. barbara walters is the last thing anybody wants to look at. she's ugly and ancient.

432. what star brought to the view was a disciplined brilliant mind. what rosie will bring is the excitement of an extremely articulate, disturbed and self-centered woman. it will be fun. but star had brains and i miss her. she's got every right to keep her business about her weight ( an extremely uphill battle) personal. barbara walters is so transparently self-serving; a remnant from a different age. one doesn't sense a keen mind about matters but a shrewd mind in terms of damage control and manipulation. It will be a gas. rosie is a gas. i'd love to see starr back. that new blonde girl who replaced lisa ling is an embarrassment. she carries no intellectual weight--and whatever other weight she carries is very light indeed. as for joy. she found her way on the show on her way from a cannoli stand in bklyn to a job interview for the view. the show's a mess.

433. Ask fat lesbo Rosie if we should take away the guns from our men in ground combat. Incidently, how come the women are not in "ground combat"?? Affirmative Action says there should be NO White American Males in grounf combat but rather be replaced by the "chosen ones"; women and minorities. WAM (White American Males) have lost 2,453 votes in Iraq. This is one of the ways WAM has gotten castrated! Send Rosie she could stop a lot of bullets with her fat ass!

434. Im gonna quote oneo the people I work with when we were talkin about someone who no one likes at my work. This fits Rosie perfectly: "Shes like a wart on yer butt that wont go away no matter what you do to it."

435. U WILL NEVER FIT IN.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
STAR JONES WAS THE BEST THING THAT SHOW HAD
GOING FOR IT. I HAVE NOT WATCHED IT SINCE HER DEPARTURE
AND NOR HAVE MY FRIENDS.
THE VIEW NOW IS JUST A HEN HOUSE WITH THE ROOSTER
SOON TO BE BOSSING THE OTHER HENS AROUND!
