Rosie's Angsty Pre-"View" Poetry

Rosie O'Donnell is clearly conflicted about her upcoming debut as a co-host on "The View" -- and she's letting her feelings spill out for all to read. On her blog, O'Donnell has given her fans and observers a taste of what she's been thinking in advance of joining Barbara, Joy, and Elisabeth at the kaffeeklatsch, almost in real-time and in a stripped-down shorthand (and all-lower-case) verse that might best described as Hai-M.

Last Thursday, she caused a minor stir when she reacted to having seen the new "View" promos, in which she's portrayed as just one of the girls. "It will be hard 4 me/2 not b/the boss," she wrote. But Friday, she did something of an about-face, writing, "I am excited about the view ... hoping they all like me ... cuz there is nothing better/than being a cast member."

And then yesterday, Rosie described an interaction at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmys (pictured above) with a reporter from Access Hollywood, who apparently asked her if she was happy about her former nemesis Star Jones' firing. Rosie wouldn't take the bait, according to her: "It would not have been fun for me/fighting everyday/life is 2 short."

Though her unabashed self-explication is certain to continue to make (little) waves, Rosie herself explains that it's just a way to work things out: "The discord is internal/inside myself. . .feelings are not fights." Rosie's full poetic discourse on "The View," complied into a mini-anthology, follows.

The Pre-"View"

by Rosie O'Donnell

i saw the new view promos
and found myself in the position
i loathe most
powerless

it will be hard 4 me
2 not b
the boss
it is already
and we have only just begun

i am excited about the view
like a new kid on the first day of school
hoping they all like me
that i fit in
cuz there is nothing better
then being a cast member

access hollywood
asked if i was happy
star was gone
b4 i could reply he added
- i would have loved 2 c u 2 go at it
smiling

it would not have been fun for me
fighting everyday
life is 2 short

436. The View should be cancelled all together. It's a bunch of cackling women all talking at the same time. It is pathetic. We don't want their "view" on things. Melanie

437. I believe that we all have our own opinions of how people should act. Rosie, as well as all of us, is not perfect; but I do think that she does her best to identify herself with different age groups-especially kids. She wrote the poem in a way that reflects her personality. Come on, she has done great things! Anyway, ahe will do great on the VIEW because that is exactly what the show is-different "views" on several issues that affect all of us. She is going to be a hit on that show; and whatever time she stays on the show, she will be remembered. I applaud her bravery, and "no" I am not gay-but if I were, I'd be happy to have an example like her. Just for the record, I lived in Nyack for a while, and saw the kind of mother and person she was "off camera", Good luck-Rosie!

440. What the heck happened to the old Rosie was loved and adored? Rosie is really getting on my nerves with this high and mighty attitude. Ever since she came out the closet she has been on the defense. Well, I am gay myself but that does not give me a right to turn into the devil. Rosie, u needs to clean it up girlfriend, you are really getting on my nerves. I am not the biggest Star Jones fan but give her a little respect. Calling her a "B" is not the answer. If she really meant what she said about life being to short to fight, then maybe the old Rosie is finally reemerging, or at least I hope so.

443. I quit watching the view.
Why don't you have a real man with real views as a guest, like Michael Savage.
He would set all you morons straight.

445. This HORRID lesbian with a big mouth and a huge arse can harp and carp all she wants... WHO CARES..... the show is just a bunch of hateful old bags who can't shut up. Why any HUMAN would watch it is beyond me. Barbara Walters will turn on Rosie as fast as she did on the fat black chic.... at least the fat black chick was FEMININE!!!

446. She is definitely gay, has been for years Rebecca! She told the world by her own mouth!
The poetry is horendous and I would not consider it as poetry by any form or means. I have never liked Rosie or what she stands for, she is all that the others wrote and more. I will never watch "The View" once she is on it. Life is too short to spend it gagging! I'm more concerned for the poor children she adopted, anger does not stop at the office for people like her......I must admit, I have avoided all info on Rosie for a long time so she might have one child or many, I can't remember.

447. Many people are making reference to Rosie's sexual orientation(which is nothing new) and disregarding any of the aspects of her personal career. I think she's great, and I, like her could care less about what anybody thinks of her sex life; she can take the hatred or she wouldn't of made her feelings public. The View is better of with her than with Star and her phony persona anyday!
