Rosie's Angsty Pre-"View" Poetry

Rosie O'Donnell is clearly conflicted about her upcoming debut as a co-host on "The View" -- and she's letting her feelings spill out for all to read. On her blog, O'Donnell has given her fans and observers a taste of what she's been thinking in advance of joining Barbara, Joy, and Elisabeth at the kaffeeklatsch, almost in real-time and in a stripped-down shorthand (and all-lower-case) verse that might best described as Hai-M.

Last Thursday, she caused a minor stir when she reacted to having seen the new "View" promos, in which she's portrayed as just one of the girls. "It will be hard 4 me/2 not b/the boss," she wrote. But Friday, she did something of an about-face, writing, "I am excited about the view ... hoping they all like me ... cuz there is nothing better/than being a cast member."

And then yesterday, Rosie described an interaction at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmys (pictured above) with a reporter from Access Hollywood, who apparently asked her if she was happy about her former nemesis Star Jones' firing. Rosie wouldn't take the bait, according to her: "It would not have been fun for me/fighting everyday/life is 2 short."

Though her unabashed self-explication is certain to continue to make (little) waves, Rosie herself explains that it's just a way to work things out: "The discord is internal/inside myself. . .feelings are not fights." Rosie's full poetic discourse on "The View," complied into a mini-anthology, follows.

The Pre-"View"

by Rosie O'Donnell

i saw the new view promos
and found myself in the position
i loathe most
powerless

it will be hard 4 me
2 not b
the boss
it is already
and we have only just begun

i am excited about the view
like a new kid on the first day of school
hoping they all like me
that i fit in
cuz there is nothing better
then being a cast member

access hollywood
asked if i was happy
star was gone
b4 i could reply he added
- i would have loved 2 c u 2 go at it
smiling

it would not have been fun for me
fighting everyday
life is 2 short

467. How rude of a cow is this woman. Who cares if Star Jones lost her size by diet or if she had an operation. Can any one remember what Star had to say when Ms. R O Cow came out, so who cares. I once like Rosie and did watch her show, I will never watch the View again. Its great to have a show with a mix of views, Star added spice to the view. I don't the show will last now, what kind of view can 3 old women and a chicken head offer

468. I respect Rosie, but not some of her choices. I think it will be refreshing to have someone real on the view; someone who is up front and promotes her real beliefs.
She might struggle a bit when it comes to sitting back and tolerating the comments of the other girls, but she'll get the hang of it. If it doesn't last long, it will be Rosie's decision first. She'll know whether or not it will work out before they do.
I like her blog, too. It adds so much more meaning to the words when you write in stanzas like that. Let's give her a chance. This might be the best thing for her.

470. Her poem is exactly what I would expect. There is no way she is going to keep her big mouth shut. She has proven over and over again she is loud and obnoxious.
A sad day when they bring her on the "View". That is the day I stop watching.

471. I like Rosie, her honesty and her humor are refreshing. I have missed her TV talk show, her magazine and l was hoping she would come back to TV to fill the void that she left. But the View??? I thought now that Star was gone that I would tune in to it again. I didn't last more than 10 minutes - with everyone talking over one another I find it very stressful to watch let alone try to listen to. I don't think this is the right move for Rosie she does so much better by herself. How will she ever get a word in with Elisabeth never shutting up.
I wish Rosie all the very best!

472. There is NO way that Rosie will JUST BE A MEMBER OF THE CREW... She has been to the mountain...with her own show...and you don't just come down to get yourself back on TV. I think this was an "emotional" decision by Barbara...If it is supposed to be a business decision, it will turn out to be one of the biggest bombs in TV history...The CLASS of the View was Meridith and she made the best decision ever by leaving this self centered Liberal group. How Barbara ever made it this far, I'll never know...She still can't talk and sounds like a retard (I'm sorry) at times. Elizabeth has gotten to be such a know it all with her holier than thou opinions...She is worse than what Kathy Lee became and now just her voice alone has gotten so annoying. Can't stand her anymore. She and Rosie will be like oil and water...It will not make for good TV because they are both too absorbed in themselves and the issues will become personal political platforms that will not come off well. Just both of their voices alone will turn you off. This show is history...ever since Meredith left...Starr was a gem next to what Elizabeth is turning into... and now you are going to bring in Rosie...My God Barbara ????Isn't she controversial enough ?

473. Rosie, U R off to a bad start! I loved YOUR show, but I won't watch the View. No offense but you don't "fit in".

474. Say what you want about Rosie....the fact is that she had a top rated daytime talk show for SEVERAL YEARS before she called it quits. Yeah, she can be abrasive, everyone has their bad points and their good points. The fact that her daytime talk show was so successful is just that - a verifiable fact - so that means that enough people out there (sorry, conservatives) liked her well enough to tune in and kept her ratings up there for way longer than most talk shows. Will I personally watch the View, probably not. The one I can't stand is the goody-two-shows neo-con goosestepper Elizabeth. She always looks like she's smuggly judging people while they're talking, instead of listening to what they are saying...a little to "perfect" for me, thank you.

475. I know I will stop watching because she has nothing to say that I care to here.
Bull Dykes are not my thing. She should take a few pointers from Ellen and soften up (LOLL)
What is the view thinking?
Rosie will attack Elizibeth and her beliefs first thing, I just know it. She will try to take over the show as well ( or is that the idea down the road?) To bad , they had a good thing going for a long time.

476. All you FREAKS saying this so-called "god" character hates the sinner and doesn't like fags etc... are so pathetic. Please grow up and join us in the "REAL WORLD" and finally accept the GOD IS JUST PRETEND. You call it a he. You beg to this ficticous character day in and day out. It allows you not rely on yourself and mankind. It give you a false make-believe friend that doesn't exist. Kids are usually the ones with imaginary friends, not mature, sane, rational and logical adults. Instead of being born-again, why not just grow up?
Also, even if this fairy-tale god character existed he/she/it?? must love fags as Rosie is very wealthy. She even cleans up after heterosexuals garbage and unwanted leftovers (ie: orphans). Hererosexuals are the ones who brought us divorce, abortion, brothels and orphans, and they continue to do so. This woman should be looked at like the kind heart that she is for taking your unwanted kids. How many have you adopted?? Remember religion kills. Jesus died over 2,000 years ago (if he ever existed at all?) and its time to get over it and move on. Learn to think for yourself you weak, programmed sheep.

477. Rosie and all other Lesbians in the celebrity category are always "In your face." I don't mind gay people, but they always seem to want to be controversial in their sexual views and want to throw it right at you! Ellen Degeneres found this out several years ago. I liked Rosie in "Fried Green Tomatoes," but, nothing since then. And, I doubt I will find her viable in any other film in the future. I have never watched "The View," and I probably will never watch it . She and her lover will never make it in the real world.

478. Who is Rosie O' Donnell? Oh that's right, she is the performer who portrayed Betty Rubble on "The Flintstones". She has used up her fifteen minutes of fame. NEXT!

479. personally, i loved the view the way it was, and I especially liked star. it made me sick when they got rid of her ROSIE

480. When The View first started it was really great. Very informative! Good intellegent conversation with manners and not everyone trying to out scream the other person. Now I am usually disappointed and turn it off. Star was very bright and that is not my feeling about Rosie. She only seems to dwell on her sexual preferance. She does not realize that there are a lot of us people who really don't give a darn what her sexual preferance is. Well, I have always admired Barbara Walters but I just don't feel like she treated Star right at the end. It probably was not all known and never will be, however, I do feel that Barbara has her work cut out for her. I don't envy her trying to ride herd on Rosie because I think she usually speaks without thinking a lot. It won't last and I think it will be the end of The View. (Jody Red)
