Rosie's Angsty Pre-"View" Poetry

Rosie O'Donnell is clearly conflicted about her upcoming debut as a co-host on "The View" -- and she's letting her feelings spill out for all to read. On her blog, O'Donnell has given her fans and observers a taste of what she's been thinking in advance of joining Barbara, Joy, and Elisabeth at the kaffeeklatsch, almost in real-time and in a stripped-down shorthand (and all-lower-case) verse that might best described as Hai-M.

Last Thursday, she caused a minor stir when she reacted to having seen the new "View" promos, in which she's portrayed as just one of the girls. "It will be hard 4 me/2 not b/the boss," she wrote. But Friday, she did something of an about-face, writing, "I am excited about the view ... hoping they all like me ... cuz there is nothing better/than being a cast member."

And then yesterday, Rosie described an interaction at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmys (pictured above) with a reporter from Access Hollywood, who apparently asked her if she was happy about her former nemesis Star Jones' firing. Rosie wouldn't take the bait, according to her: "It would not have been fun for me/fighting everyday/life is 2 short."

Though her unabashed self-explication is certain to continue to make (little) waves, Rosie herself explains that it's just a way to work things out: "The discord is internal/inside myself. . .feelings are not fights." Rosie's full poetic discourse on "The View," complied into a mini-anthology, follows.

The Pre-"View"

by Rosie O'Donnell

i saw the new view promos
and found myself in the position
i loathe most
powerless

it will be hard 4 me
2 not b
the boss
it is already
and we have only just begun

i am excited about the view
like a new kid on the first day of school
hoping they all like me
that i fit in
cuz there is nothing better
then being a cast member

access hollywood
asked if i was happy
star was gone
b4 i could reply he added
- i would have loved 2 c u 2 go at it
smiling

it would not have been fun for me
fighting everyday
life is 2 short

481. Rosie wasn't kind to the people of Portland, Oregon. She took a radio station to court because she thought it was using her name to get an audience. That was so silly and dumb because Portland is known as the City of Roses. It was for that and not her name. I lost a lot of respect for her then.

482. A pleasingly plump, black, intelligent woman was okay for the view because she'll stay in her place, and wouldn't outshine the disgracefully aging B.W. However, the bigotry continues as this beautiful woman emerged with esteem that measured up to her intelligence. Could it possibly have been that the other dumb doras were jealous?
How dare you insult the American public with such a jackass who calls herself gay, and is actually uglier than the ugliest man I've ever seen? She's not even smart enough to keep her dysfunctional home-life to herself , and to keep these innocent children out of the public eye!!
At least (big and pretty, small and sexy) Star Jones has the God-given talent to open her mouth as wide as she wants to! We all make mistakes. She did!
My question is, what will they do when Pillsbury Rosie opens hers? What do you think you'll get other than an angry man's crap?
She proved that with her third-grade attempt at poetry writing, using that disdainfully ignorant lingo.
Give Star her due props. The woman brought finess and professionalism (that even B.W lacked) to the show. STARS belong in the sky. Watch HER fly.
When WALTER made the choice to hire Rosie, she should've fired herself! That's total inefficiency or is it just the onset of Alzheimer's?

483. I can't stand Rosie ODonnell. I mean, who actually LIKES this person? She is mean and spiteful and vindictive. She isn't funny and she can't act. I am sorry she lost her mother when she young, that had to have been difficult. But WHY is she a celebrity? She is a loudmouth who can never admit when she is wrong; I never watched The View anyway, but you can be sure I won't now that she's on there.

485. Rosie is a joke, but not a funny one! She can't write, she can't act and she will certainly not be an asset to "The View" They already sound like a bunch of Magpies especially if they are on and you are in another room. With her mouth, she will sound like Macho magpie! Not a good move having her as one of the hosts of this show, but I do have my remote and don't have to watch! In fact, with her on I won't need my remote as I won't have it on that channel anyway..

486. Every once in awhile i look at some of these posts..and it never ceases to amaze me how people chose to express themselves..many are decent comments whether i agree with them or not....the rest tho...i have to wonder ...you cant express yourselves without name calling and saying vile things about people you dont even know...we all have opinions of course...but how about being civil? i have a feeling the ones im directing this to wont get it....so i will just say...good luck to rosie..good luck to the view...and for those who dont care to watch..dont..its really that simple..

487. I really enjoy the View now that Star (what kind of name is that? She probaly named her self) is gone, but Rosie is going to have her hands full with the ultra consertive Elizabeth, I think that Elizabeth has a very big loud mouth especially when she is trying to get her consertiave life style points across to every one.

I love Joy & Barbara. Rosie will not be able to be boss and it will be very interesting to see the other three go head to head with her antics. Good Luck Girls can't wait for the first fight on air!!!!

488. Truly, I liked her show when she had it and enjoyed it. I didn't know she was gay for a long time. I am not progay but I have truly liked the woman. I always thought she was funny and warm. I have no idea about if Starr got fired or not. I hope it all works out!

489. I'm a constant View watcher and excited to see and hear Rosie again on TV. She will bring a necessary candid truth to the show. And why is it so terrible that she stands up for gay rights when it was ok for Star to promote her black agenda. Let's not forget that it was and is Barbara's thought to have a cross section of America's females on her panel. It's too bad M.Viera couldn't stay and Elizabeth get the boot for her radical bigotry. There is no room for hatred in any shape or form. The perfect four would have been Joy, Rosie, Meredith, and Oprah's friend Gayle.

490. I think Rosie is wonderful. She may have a loud mouth, a lack of polish and is sometimes a bit overbearing, but she also has honesty, a wonder of things unknown and a love of the world around her. I would never, EVER have watched "The View" if Rosie hadn't been joining the cast. I am a straight, married woman who doesn't have much time to watch T.V. but I will now have to give "The View" a chance.

491. To me, the interesting part is: I cannot see Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth on the same show together. I wonder what thought was behind that.

492. Everybody needs to leave Rosie alone..Don't hate and be jealous of the fact that she acquired a lot of money through hard work, and still is down to earth like a normal person!! She has NOT let the fame go to her head, and for the way she writes on her blog-it's her style..so GET OVER IT!! She's gonna bring a voice for the regular people on The View! So sick of FAKE Hollywood !

493. I am so happy Rosie will be on The View. She is a refreshing voice of honesty in this country, where hypocrisy has become the "new religion". Rosie is not afraid to be herself - a woman of passionate integrity. She is doing so much for the children in this country - her own and other peoples. Visit her "Rosie's For All Kids Foundation" and "Project Katrina" at forallkids.org. Watch the DVD "All Aboard: Rosie's Family Cruise" and see beautiful children that might never have had a family, loved, healthy and happy. I am a wife( one husband for 49 years), mother, grandmother and soon to be great-grandmother and I read her blog everyday for inspiration. Put aside your predjuidices and open your minds and your hearts to ROSIE!!!

494. When they fired Star I thought "good", but when I heard they were going to hire Rosie I was very disappointed. She is harsh and annoying. I didn't know they allowed "men" (or wannabes) on the show. How did she ever get to be famous, anyway? I am surprised that this show hasn't been cancelled already. When I flip the channel and it's on, I flip it right off again. She criticized Star for losing all that weight. She should lose some weight. Who would want to be with her, anyway?

495. Rosie is bad news for the View, but the View appears to be on its last leg anyway. Rosie will be the end of this show, because now you have two, maybe three people to dislike (with Ms. Walters being #3). Rosie is a fraud in the worst way, putting on one persona for the public as long as she can, then BAM the real Rosie will surface. Homophobia will be a factor in the demise of the show as well. I'm sure ABC thinks the Rosie/Star feud will retain and get new viewers, but that will only last so long. The demise of the show will be well deserved, because fair is fair. Star Jones, well liked or not, did her part on the show for all those years and deserved a better send off than what she got. Barbara Walters doesn't deserve her legend status. She's as superficial as they come.
