Rosie's Angsty Pre-"View" Poetry

Rosie O'Donnell is clearly conflicted about her upcoming debut as a co-host on "The View" -- and she's letting her feelings spill out for all to read. On her blog, O'Donnell has given her fans and observers a taste of what she's been thinking in advance of joining Barbara, Joy, and Elisabeth at the kaffeeklatsch, almost in real-time and in a stripped-down shorthand (and all-lower-case) verse that might best described as Hai-M.

Last Thursday, she caused a minor stir when she reacted to having seen the new "View" promos, in which she's portrayed as just one of the girls. "It will be hard 4 me/2 not b/the boss," she wrote. But Friday, she did something of an about-face, writing, "I am excited about the view ... hoping they all like me ... cuz there is nothing better/than being a cast member."

And then yesterday, Rosie described an interaction at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmys (pictured above) with a reporter from Access Hollywood, who apparently asked her if she was happy about her former nemesis Star Jones' firing. Rosie wouldn't take the bait, according to her: "It would not have been fun for me/fighting everyday/life is 2 short."

Though her unabashed self-explication is certain to continue to make (little) waves, Rosie herself explains that it's just a way to work things out: "The discord is internal/inside myself. . .feelings are not fights." Rosie's full poetic discourse on "The View," complied into a mini-anthology, follows.

The Pre-"View"

by Rosie O'Donnell

i saw the new view promos
and found myself in the position
i loathe most
powerless

it will be hard 4 me
2 not b
the boss
it is already
and we have only just begun

i am excited about the view
like a new kid on the first day of school
hoping they all like me
that i fit in
cuz there is nothing better
then being a cast member

access hollywood
asked if i was happy
star was gone
b4 i could reply he added
- i would have loved 2 c u 2 go at it
smiling

it would not have been fun for me
fighting everyday
life is 2 short

661. I had no preconceived opinion about Rosie. After watching 3 shows (to be fair) I think Barbara made a HUGE mistake. Rosie is WAY to infintile and overbearing. I for one won't watch her on her soapbox anymore. All the giveaways are a bad trade for conversation.

663. They better hide all the cookies on the set of the View now that Rosie is in the house!

664. Rosie will ruin the view. Most people find her annoying and childish.

665. Rosie is a mean spirited stubby fingered, pot bellied, pumpkin head she is twisted beyond belief ,who keeps giving this lunatic children?Star was self centered and obnoxius and a "star" in her own diluted world did she really want everyone to believe she lost 999 pounds through diet and exercise why make getting that bucket of stomach stapled a big secret at least when she was fat the fat filled out her wrinkles now she looks 89 yrs. old,Joy acts like a child trying to get attention from mommy Barbara Walters always trying to pick a catfight with her co-host with truly crappy one liners,Elisabeth is a uber-nazi she is going to sh*t a brick when her daughter Grace comes home pregnant by a big strappin black man, she'll change her views on abortion then and have her de-programmed by smacking her in the head with a bible ,Barbara Walters only likes to show her face when she needs to reel in the maniacs on the View, she has to show them who's the boss, the other co-host who jumped ship early Debbie and Lisa how smart were they and Merideth she wised up before she went down with the ship I only watch the View because it's like rubber-knecking at a fatal car crash you know you shouldn't watch but something in you just wont let you look away the show should be called A View Into Mental illness

666. In the beginning I thought Barbara had made the wrong choice by chosing Rosie, but boy was I so wrong. Rosie is the best thing that ever happened at The View. I was kind of getting bored watching the view before, Star Jones showed the ugly side of celebrity living.
Rosie is great, the hot topics now are real, and I loved the way she told Elizabeth that she was wrong. Joy was right for telling Elizabeth she speaks too fast. Her voice irratates everyone in my home. There is nothing to like about Elizabeth, she is just so ordinary. I can't stand it when she talks about her weight. She is a bad example for young girls. The woman is a skinny thing and she asks her husband if she looks fat??
If Barbara gets Cathy Lee on the show, it will be 'The Perfect View',
Thanks to Rosie, I will continue to be a fan of The View

667. I really like Elizabeth. The show needs her conservative point of view and I was stunned today when Rosie had the audacity to accuse Elizabeth of yelling to try to make a point about guns. Yelling to try to make a pioint is exactly what Rosie does! It is too bad she is such a controlling loud mouth, because she can be quite funny and witty, but she has absolutley no manners and I can't see her lasting much longer. Each day she seems to push the envelope. I would not be surprised if Elizabeth quits the show. The poor girl probably hates going to work everyday to face loud mouth.

668. I am disgusted by most of the negative comments about Rosie here. I am not a huge fan of hers but the producers probably figured it will keep the show interesting to women who do not all agree and are representing different social, political and personal points of view. The saddest thing I read among all these comments was the high degree of gay bashing, bigotry, and total lack of acceptance for alternative lifestyles and the personal freedoms we have in this country. It just semms like there an awful lot of very angry and judgmental americans which makes me ashamed to admit to being an American.

669. Thank goodness for Rosie, now we'll get rid of The View once and for all.
She is an expert at everything, she lets us all know. She can't even get facts straight, for instance, when commenting on the poor Amish children:
said they were 'handcuffed' the murderer was a 'milkman and we don't even have milkmen anymore' ( he drove a milk TRUCK Rosie, for dairy farmers),
and this horror is all the fault of the NRA,and, by implication of course, President Bush who is responsible for all the worlds' ills. Ah, well, won't be long now..
Adios !!!!!

671. I haven't watched the view since Rosie came along - don't want to hear her crap. She is no Ellen. Ellen has class and Rosie is just a leisbo trying to stir up trouble. The Price is Right has picked up lots of View viewer. Me being one of them. Go Bob Barker.

672. I truly was a Star Jones fan..She ad morals AND class. She was able to speak her mind WITHOUT being a LOUDMOUTH. Meridith Vieria was the one and only TRUE ANCHOR..Strong, yet open-minded and sensible. Although I do think Rosie has a natural quick-wit and a down to earth comedy, she, to me ,is just a close-minded, loudmouth that came to the View for conflict and to inflict her way of life on others..I have nothing against gays or any other non-tradtional lifestyles, but express it with CLASS, not LOUDMOUTHING. I think Elizabeth, is a talented, young ,MORALLY CONSCIOUS young woman who puts old fashioned values in her life and is not afraid to say, "HEY, it's ok to be traditional"...Go Elizabeth! Give Rosie a run for her money!

673. I'm surprised her poem wasn't about icecream and cake. She needs to stop being annoying and just SHUT UP!

674. Why did they ever pick Rosie O'Donnell? She definitely is NOT a Meredith Viera, nor is she even close.
Rosie should have her own show where she can be funny and express her political views all she wants and we can turn her off if we choose.
There must be someone out there who would do a better job.

675. I think Barbara Walters made a big mistake putting Rosie O'Donnell on the show. You might as well call it the "Rosie O'Donnell Show" instead of "The View". You can tell Joy is disgusted with the whole thing and while I'm at it....get rid of Elisabeth. ugh. She is an idiot.
