Tom Cruise Canned From Paramount

Tom Cruise has just gotten the heave ho from Paramount Pictures.

Tom Cruise

Sumner Redstone, chief honcho at Viacom, the parent company of Paramount, has ended the 14-year relationship with Cruise's production company, Cruise/Wagner Productions. According to The Wall Street Journal, Redstone cited Cruise's controversial conduct and behavior over the last year as the reason for the split.

Redstone reportedly believed Cruise's antics -- including his now infamous appearances on "Oprah" and "Today" -- had a negative impact on the bottom line for "Mission Impossible III." Redstone said, "As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal." Redstone told The Wall Street Journal: "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Cruise/Wagner produced a string of hits for Paramount, including "Top Gun," "Mission Impossible" and "Days of Thunder."

UPDATE: Paula Wagner, Cruise's producing partner, responded angrily, claiming Redstone's comments were "outrageous and disrespectful." Wagner noted that her collaboration with Cruise has accounted for 15% of Paramount's theatrical revenues over the last decade. Wagner added that she and Cruise broke off negotiations with Paramount within the last few days. Finally, Wagner said her company has raised "a revolving fund of $100 million" from two hedge funds and that they will be making movies in the future.

331. Tom never used to do alot of public appearances or interviews. Now we know why. He should have kept it that way. Mysterious is definately better. Its never good to know to much about celebritys personal lives because it takes away from the fantacy when you try to watch something there in. Was never a big fan of his to begin with. Only liked one of his old movies called Far and Away. But I couldnt force myself to watch anything hes in now.

332. TOM REALLY NEEDED A REALITY CHECK!!! I WOULD BET MY HOUSE THAT HIS CAREER AND HIS MARRIAGE DON'T LAST!!! WHAT A FREAK!!!

333. Who in the world is worth $40 million in a lifetime, much less per movie? Who cares what Cruise does or says? This issue may seem to be about idealogy, but no person is worth that kind of money despite what he or she profuses. There are plenty of good actors out there who can do as well for a lot less. And, importantly, there are plenty of scientists and engineers and other technical professsionals who contribute a whole lot more to our lives and our nation who receive relative pittance in return.

334. These actors think they are untouchable. They are overrated. We have starving people in america but we can pay actors 20 million a movie. Where are our values? This is craziness. we need to stop putting these people on top of the world. They are just regular people who work 4 months a year every 3 years. They work hard, so they say.

335.
How the mighty fall. The media and people just love it when this happens. What would life be without this feeding frenzie.

Unfortunately, Mr. Cruise thought he was loved enough that no matter what he said it could not hurt him. Pride before a fall.
I think though the Paramount people should have been more honest and admitted it that they did not want to shell out the money they paid him.
Next time Tom, remember "silence is golden".

336. When Mr. Cruise using that loosely,Decided that he was all knowing and everyone else incorrect he stirred up a hornets nest. Then there is the Baby and then dropping out of sight!! I am not really all about the Hollywood set!! However he hit a low.. He attacked all of Mental Health, And New Mothers. Where is Katie and Baby Surri, Suri?

337. No one cares about Tom Cruise anymore. So glad Nicole got out before she was old and grey. As for Katie..she had a while yet, she is still star-struck. Maybe this will wake her up so she can join the majority of the public opinion of her baby's daddy...(she hasn't said "I do" yet)...it's never too late. He is not for her.

338. Tom Who? Is he related to K-Fed? Two peas in a pod. Both rotten.
Hollywood should not waste their time or ours on such losers. I shouldn't waste my time on this message, but couldn't resist. It's sad that we don't see Justice in our courts, but we're beginning to see it in Hollywood. About time.

339. Tom Cruise is no role model, he has dumped his last two wives and has a child out of wedlock to someone who could be his daughter. Our teenagers are the ones who spend the money on the movies and they think his behavior is repulsive. My girls loved Dawson Creek and they say what has happened to Katy Holmes? Shame on you Tom
Cruise, you are no role model. I am happy for NIcole and glad she married a moral good guy

340. Excellent foresight on the part of Paramount!! A huge fan in the past, I did not see either of his last two movies nor will I see any others in the future. He destroyed his image by showing his TRUE character. Those of us who no longer respect him will not spend our $$ on his movies

341. So sorry that his children are having to go through this...I wonder what his exwife is thinking now! Nic. got lucky and got out before it all came out how nutty the guy really is....you don't mess with the man. He said deal or no deal, guess they got the boot!

342. What a bunch of Jealous People. Get a life!
I wish him, all the best in everything he does.
I think he's very talented and enjoy his movies very much.
Paramount has made a very stupid mistake and will greatly regret it later.

343. I dont care what anyone wants to beleave in but as long as it helps you become a better person. As a person from the outside looking in i think its made him far worse. Maybe this will be a chance for him to rethink the whole med's are wrong i hope.

344. I CAPITALIZE BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE WELL -- NOT INTENDED FOR EMPHATIC PURPOSE(S).

I THINK TOM CRUISE HAS LONG AGO WORN OUT HIS CAPABILITY TO ACT, PERIOD! AND I, FRANKLY, DO NOT THINK HE IS AS PRETTY AS HE THINKS HE IS. LIMITED INTELLIGENCE, IF ANY. I HAVEN'T LIKED ANYTHING HE HAS DONE SINCE "TOP GUN". IT'S ALL BEEN A BUNCH OF HOT AIR SINCE THEN.

FINALLY..."JUST DESSERTS".

345. I HAVE THOUGHT FOR A LONG TIME THAT TOM CRUISE SEEMS FULL OF HIMSELF. HE AND HIS WIFE APPEAR TO BE ACTING STRANGELY ABOUT THE BIRTH OF THEIR CHILD ALSO. WEIRD! MAYBE IF HE IS FACED WITH THE REALITY OF BEING FULLY ACCEPTED OR NOT, HE WILL ACT MORE HUMBLE AND GRATEFUL FOR HIS FANS.
