Tom Cruise Canned From Paramount

Tom Cruise has just gotten the heave ho from Paramount Pictures.

Tom Cruise

Sumner Redstone, chief honcho at Viacom, the parent company of Paramount, has ended the 14-year relationship with Cruise's production company, Cruise/Wagner Productions. According to The Wall Street Journal, Redstone cited Cruise's controversial conduct and behavior over the last year as the reason for the split.

Redstone reportedly believed Cruise's antics -- including his now infamous appearances on "Oprah" and "Today" -- had a negative impact on the bottom line for "Mission Impossible III." Redstone said, "As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal." Redstone told The Wall Street Journal: "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Cruise/Wagner produced a string of hits for Paramount, including "Top Gun," "Mission Impossible" and "Days of Thunder."

UPDATE: Paula Wagner, Cruise's producing partner, responded angrily, claiming Redstone's comments were "outrageous and disrespectful." Wagner noted that her collaboration with Cruise has accounted for 15% of Paramount's theatrical revenues over the last decade. Wagner added that she and Cruise broke off negotiations with Paramount within the last few days. Finally, Wagner said her company has raised "a revolving fund of $100 million" from two hedge funds and that they will be making movies in the future.

346. CORRECTION ON MY PREVIOUS COMMENT. I MEANT TO SAY THAT HE AND HIS GIRLFRIEND ARE ACTING WEIRD REGARDING THEIR CHILD. I MISTAKENLY SAID HIS WIFE AND OF COURSE IT SEEMS THAT HE CHOOSES NOT TO MARRY THE MOTHER OF THIS CHILD.

347. I'm sorry a celebrity such as Tom Cruise hasn't used his celebrity status to do good things, instead of spout foolish nonsense, such as his not-so expert views on psychiatry and necessary medicines, which has actually endangered some fan's lives. That is NOT so cool. Just because a person is famous, doesn't mean they are also wiser than anyone else on the planet. I feel sorry for Katie, as she has lost her spunky fun personality--Tom Cruise is like a giant ameba--he's absorbed her so completely, she no longer seems to exist..

348. I find it rather funny how almost everyone leaving comments are voicing their opinions (some are rather rude and ignorant). If half of the things these people have said could be plastered over the news these people would become social pariahs, publicly beheaded.

You people voicing your opinions have the damn nerve to say, "finally he'll learn to keep his damn mouth shut!" What kind of comment is that? You guys are not famous and you feel like you can say whatever the hell you please. You know why you feel this way? Because this is a free country! I don't give a shit if his name was Tom Cruise, Alfred Hitchcock or Elvis, he has a right in American to voice his damn opinions. All might not agree with it, but who the hell cares?

The man is a wonderful actor. He's worked hard for his millions. You guys write to Donald Trump and tell him his is a conceded bastard with too much money. Better yet, call up Sean *P.Diddy* Combs and tell him that he is a piece of shit because he's worked hard, made himself and others millions of dollars and is a human being who MADE HIS SUCCESS! It wasn't handed down to him on a silver platter. He worked for it, damnit.

So, with that said. If an ignorant, arrogant, envious piece of couch potatoes can voice an opinion on stars and doesn't know JACK SQUAT about them, these celebrities can say whatever and do whatever the hell they please. Get over it! Get a damn life and stop being haters.

Have a nice day! :-)

349. Paramount, you did the right thing. I won't ever pay to see mission impossible 3 because of his famous remarks about meds and espescially because of his actions concerning the scientology episode of South Park. Tom... Strong and well founded beleives can endure and survive pokes from comics, obviously you think yours are too weak and have to defend them but shutting the comics up. BOTTEM LINE:
PARAMOUNT, TOM CRUISE PREVENTED YOU FROM GETTING ANY OF MY MONEY RECENTLY.

350. You know what I think? I think there IS a Suri..................but they adopted her from Italy or wherever they visited that directly before this loud, crazy announcement that they are in love. Katie looked like she was wearing a pregnancy suit, not regular maternity clothes. Didn't anyone else see the body suit she had under her clothes in that one pic? Then all her maternity clothes are gone, the baby is supposed here, her and Katie are in seclusion. Now Katie's going on vacation after vacation, and no one has seen the baby - no buying formula, diapers, frilly girls clothes. What FIRST TIME MOTHER doesn't want to show the world her new beautiful child? I think they adopted her and are waiting for her - so that nutbag bf of hers, Tom, could show he's not as gay as all the rumors make him out to be. Three words for Katie...........RUN...KATIE...RUN!

351. Please, give me a break, he is an actor...you think there is anything Paramount doesn't approve of...Paramount is ignorant if ithey will not allow him to have control of his career and the publicity he WANTS with that...no matter how freakish he wants to behave!

353. In case anyone hasn't notice, Viacom's stock has been plummetting since days after Redstone axed Cruise, and plummetted even further after Redstone axed Freston. People are even encouraging Redstone to sell his own company.

Cruise-Wager Prods has set up a new office in Century City. Seems like Wagner was even polite in her backlash against Redstone. If I were her I would have told the whole world that Viacom was a sinking ship and that's why TC was leaving. But she stopped just short of that and let their own falling stock prices swallow them whole! Touche.

354. I just want to know one thing? What religion acknowledges a person getting pregnant before marriage? What's up Tom, Isn't it that you just wanted to throw the hook, line, and sinker into fertile waters before making a commitment to the almighty bling & ring? You took an innocent and wholesome girl and turned her into one of your scientology clones. Just like you tried to do with your other wives!

Tell you what, why don't you take 3 years out of your prosperous lifestyle and join the military? Nah......you'll never be man enough to wear the uniform anyway! Your a disgrace amoungst your fellow actors.
