Clay Aiken Goes "A Thousand Different Ways"

Clay AikenWhile many in the media have focused on Clay Aiken's off stage activities, Clay has been busy in the recording studio and TMZ has the new single from his upcoming record for you. The record, which will be his third release, is called "A Thousand Different Ways" and hits stores September 19th. The record will feature 4 brand new songs by Clay and 10 cover versions of well-known songs from the '70s, '80s and '90s, personally picked by Clay for the project.

Clay recently explained the record's title. "This is an album of love songs," says Clay, "but they are about all different kinds of love. Romantic love, Friendship, Unconditional love. There are a thousand different kinds of love; a thousand different ways to tell someone you love them. And, on top of that, since so many of these songs are covers, it's realistic to say that many of them have been or could be sung a thousand different ways."

46. Wow, that sounds beautiful. And Michael - it's okay not to be a fan of Clays - you don't even have to like the music he sings - but to compare him to a drunk singer in a Karaoke bar just shows how ridiculous you are and that your "review" is not to be taken with even a smidge of reality. And Elizabeth it's okay for you to not like the fact that Clay is doing an album of covers - but quite frankly covers right now seem to be what's "in" (just ask Michael Buble) so to automatically state that the album will be slammed by critics is a little premature - don't you think so??
There are four original songs on the album - and quite frankly you are usually lucky if any album has four good songs that you like.
I suspect this album is going to be all about showcasing Clay's voice and I for one can't wait to hear it.

49. Regardless of Clay's actions out of the public eye, this CD will live and die based on how good it actually is. With "Without You" presented as the first bit of evidence, it currently seems to me that Clay will have a major uphill battle to achieve any sort of success on the charts or in the public eye. Clay doesn't seem to connect to the song, he lacks emotion and passion, and to be perfectly blunt, it doesn't even fall into the "so bad it's good" category. Rather, it is a lifeless and joyless affair, dull and uninspiring. If this is his musical talent, then I'm not surprised so many want to keep talking about his bedroom exploits, as it is, in my opinion, a much more interesting aspect of his character than his music seems to be.

50. It is all about the VOX! This is what Clive and company is presenting with this album. I have listened to the snippets and Without You, too. They are compelling and he interprets the covers like no one else. The new songs have his touch. Lonely No More which he helped write will certainly make top 40 and Everything I Have gives me goosebumps.

51. Clay has proved himself to be an outstanding performer and extremely wonderful person. Too bad you had to add the first statement which is not a way to start praising a person who so well deserves just praise for all that he has and is doing in the world. On the other hand thank you for presenting "Without You" which is the first of the magnificent songs on this album "A THOUSAND DIFFERENT WAYS".

52. Clay Aiken is a amazing performer as well as a amazing man. His fans will love this album and the haters will love it too, despite themselves. Keep the Clay updates coming but I too would like the facts please and only the FACTS!
Thank you.

53. At last the world will discover what we (the fans) have known all along........there is no one out there that can compare to Clay's vocals!

Everything he sings becomes new.....he is a very special man with a pure and generous heart that loves people in A Thousand Different Ways!

Thank you Clay, for everything you do and for sharing your gift with us !!

54. I see the Claymate propaganda campaign has begun. Trust me, this doesn't respresent the general view. I suspect the Claymates are in a panic. This album exposes Aiken for his complete lack of creativity.

Nothing can save (or should save) this uninspired album from it's boggy dreariness. Safe, predictable, and boring. Nothing adventurous, nothing remarkable. Aiken can carry a tune. Big deal. His affectations and empty delivery are major distractions. His technical skills limited to the same tricks over and over and over.

Third album, third strike. This one-trick pony should be DONE.

55. I am so disappointed in what I've heard from this CD. Why in the world is he doing a CD of covers? CD's of covers are usually done by established artists like Michael McDonald, Rod Stewart, etc. Clay is hardly in that category and I think he is taking us, his fans, for granted by releasing something he hasn't put any real effort into.

56. I love Clay, but I think choosing to do all ballads on his sophomore album was a huge mistake. He is capable of so much more, but this album won't show it. Even so, "Without You" is hauntingly beautiful. Thanks to Limewire, I've listened to many earlier versions of it, and without prejudice, Clay's is the unquestionably the best.

57. Beautiful as always! I can't wait for the new CD! Been waiting too long! Clay is the best male singer of any era!

58. What little I have heard is absolutely wonderful. Rich voice, great
arrangement, and wonderfully delivered. To the earlier poster,
critics criticize rather than create. As far as gaining respect in
the music industry, you are far off base. No one can gain respect
within an industry that is without respect.

60. Nothing can beat Badfinger's original version of "Without You"

Most of you are probably familiar with the Harry Nilsson version, or Mariah's version from the 90s.

Badfinger's original was just so aching and powerful. They were one of the greatest bands of all time.
