Clay Aiken Goes "A Thousand Different Ways"

Clay AikenWhile many in the media have focused on Clay Aiken's off stage activities, Clay has been busy in the recording studio and TMZ has the new single from his upcoming record for you. The record, which will be his third release, is called "A Thousand Different Ways" and hits stores September 19th. The record will feature 4 brand new songs by Clay and 10 cover versions of well-known songs from the '70s, '80s and '90s, personally picked by Clay for the project.

Clay recently explained the record's title. "This is an album of love songs," says Clay, "but they are about all different kinds of love. Romantic love, Friendship, Unconditional love. There are a thousand different kinds of love; a thousand different ways to tell someone you love them. And, on top of that, since so many of these songs are covers, it's realistic to say that many of them have been or could be sung a thousand different ways."

79. although I am a CLAY FAN, and I think this version is "good" I also agree that a cd of covers, at least the ones chosen for this cd, leave me a "little less that excited". I think they could have been better choices, We have heard Clay do so many better songs, and some of his originals should have been used.. That said, I will support Clay in what ever he choses, and his freedom to be whomever he wants. I will but the cd and see his concerts, but I think "TEAM CLAY" AND RCA could have done better.

81. i think the song is amazing. His voice is amazing, and after hearing the snippets of songs from the cd, it is going to be amazing. especially the song that clay wrote on.

82. MELISSA: You said it wonderfully. Yes, a Clay fan, but the idea of covers doesn't thrill me. Some songs on there are pretty darn good, but the rest...eh. And as a fan, I think what is most important is just to be happy about what your idol wants to put out. If Clay really does want an album with so many covers, then it's fine. But really, Clay's idea? Or more like RCA's idea? Enough said.

83. Thanks for the preview. Though many think a CD of covers may not be a good idea, I think the songlist is one of songs that make me say, "oh, I LOVE that song" about just about every one of them! Most albums, you get 2-3 favorites that you skip to and listen to. I already can see that there are 10 favorites before I even listen to the others! Add the four originals to that and you have a lot of great material. Covers seem to be in lateley so, who knows?
Clay's voice is amazing, and his version of without you gave me goosbumps. It is full of emotion and hope to see him perform it on the circuit of talkshows that I know he will be on to promote this album.
Two thumbs up from me and it will be on my shopping list.

84. Sad about your lead-in sentence, as this is "alleged", and in no way in keeping with what he has portrayed and even stated.
But yes! The voice is awesome, (as is the man). Expect him to do well.

85. I love this song. I have a daughter who has autism and listens to his Christmas album every time we get in the van. She sings along and tells me which songs to play. I know she will love this album too.

86. I really used to be a huge Clay Aiken fan, but I have to say that I'm hugely disappointed by this effort. Clay sounds like he's singing this song at gunpoint. What happened to him? He had so much promise. Now it sounds like he's just in it for the money.

87. I have to agree with some of the other comments here. Based on the clips I have heard, Clay seems to have lost that spark in his voice that I used to really love. I don't know. Maybe he has always sounded this way, but I wasn't at all impressed with his voice this time around. I think the scandal is relevent to the discussion though, considering that Clay never did deny the allegations, so it does seem fair game to assume that there was something to them. Maybe that's why he doesn't connect musically like he used to?

90. I don't understand why Clay chose to go in this musical direction this early in his career. This is the kind of CD someone puts out towards the end of their career not in the beginning. On top of that, the clips I've heard make me think that this was a poorly performed and poorly produced CD all the way around. How discouraging.
