61. If Gibson is really so sorry then let him deal with the thing that first brought his anti-semitism to everyone's attention, "The Passion." Let him share with the world what his thoughts really were when he made that film and let him make another film tellign the story of how Passion plays were often used to create pogroms.

The Spanish Inquisition of 1492 purged the Jews from Spain, The Russian Czar had their anti-Jewish "pograms"in 1905, Henry Ford published an anti-Jewish newsletter in the 1920's, Hitler and his band of perverts killed 12,000,000 Jews, Communists, homo-sexuals, Gypsies, and mentally defectives, the KKK hates everyone, but certainly African Americans and Jews are right up there. And Mel doesn't have to pander to all the movie executives. Certainly Frank Biondi, former president of Universal, is not Jewish. One less phone call for Mel.

63. I agree very much with what you stated Largo. Our society is completely full of racisim, but what ticks ME off is the ones who scream racisim are usually the ones who ARE the racists. I personally was brought up with an extremely racist father who tried to instill in us that blacks were trash, that jews were trash, that asians are trash. I am a causcasian white woman brought up in a christian church, but as I matured over the years, I learned that EVERY race has it's trash, including my "so-called, own" people (white trash??). However, I get annoyed when a African American gets busted for something he or she did and the so-called "African American Leaders" cry out racisim. I get completely PISSED off that the African Americans can have a "Miss Black USA" pagent or the United Negro Fund, yet if we had a "Miss White USA" or the United White Mans Fund", all hell would break loose. I hate that any African American younger that 35 years gets all bent out of shape over the slave issue and act as if it personally happened to them. I hate the fact that the Jews feel that the world owes them something, like Jerusulam. I hate the fact that one Hollywood actor made a statement and the Jews all rally together and take it so damn personal. I hate the fact that our government is still paying to Japanese survivors for Hirshima, but when do we expect the Japanese to start paying out to our Pearl Harbor survivors or THEIR families? This is all about race..all about racisim, but I MUST ask this: When have we ever heard through the media about some loser @$$ white guy getting busted for something he did and the white people cry out, "racisim" because he is white. For gods sake people, I don't care what your race is, but realize that no matter your race, there IS trash in your own cans there. Quit taking something like the Mel Gibson story so damn personal. Get over yourself.

65. There's something more telling in the people who say "let he who is without sin ..." So does this mean you've been known to utter a few bigoted epithets from time to time? Mel's a bigot, pure and simple.

I can say with confidence that I have NEVER said anything racist or anti-Semitic, not even as a "subconscious" slip. That's a reflection of my attitudes. I don't form instant negative perceptions about people based on appearance. Ever hear of the idea of appreciating infinite diversity in infinite dimensions?

66. I haven't read a transcript of Mel's tirade, but what I've heard quoted is something like this: the Jews are responsible for all the wars.

We are a society that likes to throw blame around, and that's not a good thing, but I think we all do it from time to time. We blame our parents, we blame the other political party, we blame the other gender, we blame our spouse, we
blame our boss, we blame the blamers -- but I don't view these actions as expressions of hate... rather, they are immature, arrogant expressions or political opinions.

Mel made a pretty weird comment, and I don't agree with it, but I wouldn't characterize it as HATE -- that's much too strong a word for a stupid opinion.

What bothers you more, that he was half-right, or that you know his sober apology is never going to be the same as how he REALLY feels, deep-down inside ?

And SHOULD you even CARE ? It's not like he's anybody. He's just an actor in Hollyweird.

69. When I was young & stupid, I dated a Jewish guy. In the company of his Jewish friends, all kinds of 'Christian, Jesus' jokes, comments, slurs were used knowing I was Protestant. He sure didn't think I should take it seriously. Not once apologized. I dumped his sorry disrespecting ass & never looked back. They sure can dish it out but can't take it when it happens to them. What a bunch of arrogant hypocrites the Jews are! Mel Gibson should save his breath and worry about things that matter such as his family and health. P.S. The female cop does deserve an apology though.

70. Truth is, Jews will always have it in for Mel because of "The Passion." They hate the film because it shows the glory of Christ and His power over death. Thus, they hate Mel. This is a grudge that will be carried against Mel the rest of his life.

I guess we are supposed to constantly forgive holier than thou, drunken Jew haters who make antisemitic movies as long as they blather about Jesus. So, let me get this straight. It is like this with #6 Babee. 1. If you start spewing Nazi propaganda, it is okay to do it if you are drunk, and you should be forgiven, presumably because you were drunk and nobody is perfect... kind of like drunk drivers who kill people. Obviously, it was not their fault because they were drunk. See? 2. If you encounter anyone who decides not to like the drunken Nazi, makes fun of the drunken Nazi, or is angry at the drunken Nazi, refer to him as "you people," and tell him to get over it. I want to add that it's hilarious to me when people have so much free time, and choose to spend it whining.

It doesn't work when an individual or group acts like a victim to get attention and feel better about themselves. Or spends today whining about somethng that happened in the past and then says "never again"

Unfortunatly, most of us are too small minded to give a rats ass about caring for others in the world that are less fortunate than we are.

We'd rather complain about how much WE don't have.
And how bad we have it.
And then gossip about each other.

74. Despite the seemingly positive pull-quote, the reader is left with the feeling that perhaps Mel is blazing through rehab. It also leads one to feel as though his apologies are merely step #9 in a series of things he is obligated to do. Clearly, the TMZ is run by people with a very biased opinion of the facts. The non-flattering photo choices alone say it all. I have seen the same thing in so many of their articles. The worst part is that AOL actually partners with TMZ. Why don't they just partner with the National Enquirer? I thought AOL was more professional than this.

75. When a person says they are sorry I believe them, why should we not believe Mel that he isn't as well? Alcoholism is a disease and hopefully he can begin the steps to keeping his disease under control. If he says he is sorry, then I think you need to believe him.
