The Odds Are In For Which Race Will "Survive"

In wake of the very controversial new season of hit reality television series "Survivor", Bodog.com has posted odds on which team will finish first on the show .

The newest installment of the reality show features tribes made up of contestants separated by their ethnicity. White, Asian American, Hispanic, and African-American tribes will be playing to survive the Polynesian Cook Islands.

Here are the numbers:

The Asian Americans......................13/7
The Hispanics.................................3/1
The African-American......................7/3
The Whites.....................................3/2

To the average Joe who doesn't play the sportsbook, this basically says that Whites will triumph, Blacks a close second (betting on them will double your bet), Hispanics in third (will pay three times your bet), and Asians have no chance.

TMZ wants to know what about the Indians and the Jews?

16. I can only assume this is some sacrificial goat on the part of Survivor to overshadow Mel Gibson's astounding bigotry, as it is the most inappropriate premise for a competitive show imaginable.

18. I would love to see two things: the GAY Team vs. the Lesbian team vs. the Funda"mental"ist team; fun right? And, I would love to see "real" people- not super pretty with million dollar smiles for television people... please don't let another Elizabeth Hassleblecch emerge from this one... :)

19. i don't see anything wrong with i'am sure these that are on this show know what up so if the don't care why should anybody else care they are in it for the money so if it don't bother them why should it bother anybody else

21. What the fuck are "Whites", I assume you are refering to the light skinned individuals of multiple nationalities. Not as black, brown, or yellow as the others.

23. This show is stupid. We already have enough tension between races without adding a real competition to the mix. And you know race will be an issue on the show . . . I mean, it is the show. People will comment on who's right and who's wrong and emotion will get involved. The fact is that we’re a race conscious society and if we were really okay with race, there would not be a need for competition at all. If we are supposedly equal, then technically there should be no such thing as a one race being more capable than another. And no matter the winner or loser negative stereotypes will be suggested. It's a immature and stupid idea. Let's stick together and not let this divide us. Teenagers and children will be watching this. Is this what we're want to teach them? That race is important and let's root for the skin color that matches our own?

27. It's just a competition between a group of twenty or so people on a TV show. This is not the be all and end all decider of which race is superior or inferior. Any more than pitting women against men would mean a thing at the end. Don't make it more than it is. If "my team" loses, nothing will change! If my team wins I can't imagine I would puff up with pride believing it means ANYTHING significant! Anyone who does was a freakin' idiot in the first place, the show won't turn them into one. Come on. Here is a chance to teach young people NOT to get whipped up in a frenzy about something so unimportant as a TV reality show.

30. Yet another stupid idea from CBS. The only thing that set Survivor apart from most of its reality TV competitors was that the interesting, dramatic, tense moments were real, not forced. It was bad enough when Survivor did the male/female tribes - now they have to pit the races against each other? Putting aside how detrimental this idea is to race relations and how insulting it is to the American public - this kind of contrived, maniuplative drama is nauseating. Might as well be watching the Bachelor...
