Inside the "Idol" Tour After-Party

Ace Young at the Idol after-partyImmediately following their performance at the LA stop of their tour, the "American Idols" greeted lucky fans at their Staples Center after-party on Saturday.

The ever-gracious Ace Young signed autographs for the throngs of his young female fans, while their moms gawked on the side.

Paris Bennett, who recently turned 18, handled herself like an old pro and stood on a table to handle the crush of the teenage amateur paparazzi that swarmed the pint-size pop star.

Kellie Pickler, sporting blonde extensions, proved she's just a down home gal by arriving in slippers and sweatpants.

But the scene stealer and diva of the evening was Chris Daughtry. Chris arrived with extra security, and although initially he did mingle with fans, by the end of the night you had to be asked over by The Daughtry in order to say hello.

Interestingly, LIVE lead singer Ed Kowlaczyk --who performed with The Daughtry on the "Idol" finale -- was part of Chris' entourage that night and went completely unnoticed by the crowd.

"Idol" winner Taylor Hicks, Bucky Covington and Elliott Yamin did not attend the meet and greet. The trio were busy getting across town to the Johnny Depp-owned Viper Room to take the stage with the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra, which features members of Taylor Hicks' band.

Another no-show was film actress hopeful, Katharine McPhee. We're told that Kat, who is from nearby Sherman Oaks, Calif., had so many family and friends come visit her backstage that she wasn't able to attend the after-party.

16. How interesting to read that diva article that you wrote back in april. It says "the producers would be very happy to see them leave" referring to Ace and Chris. Well, I think we figured that out for ourselves after watching the complete ambush of Ace Young by the AI producers. It's so great to see him winning tons of fans over with every concert, with his magnetic performances and his complete devotion to all fans, not just his own. I would like to say I would be willing to bet, though, that his fanbase consists mostly of women from 25 to 70, despite the critics who insist that his fans are "little girls." I also think it's wrong to call Chris a diva just because he has more security. He has tons of fans. I love to see both Ace and Chris, who are beautiful inside and out, proving you wrong in the diva department.

17. Why does TMZ continue to lie about Chris Daughtry? Does the reporter have a secret crush and was rebuffed by him because he is married...LOL!

First TMZ lies and says that Ace and Chris were the 2 divas of the season when in fact the opposite is true. Chris wa even voted "Mr. Congeniality" by the AI staff (it is in TV guide) because he is soooo nice.

Secondly TMZ spread the lies that the AI concert in LA was poorLY attended and tickets were being sold at $20.00. I was at that concert in LA and that concert was sold out. I had tried to get tickets in June from ticket master but it was sold out so I had to purchase them from another site for more money. The stupid TMZ article probably based that "not sold out" info because the week before as they do in ALL of the venues, ticketmaster released more tickets to the public and that is probably what TMZ is basing the "not sold out" crap on.

Thirdly, calling Chris a diva is just ridiculous. Chris is the nicest guy you will ever meet. His high school girlfriend even broke up with him because he was toooo nice (Iread the Greensboro articles about him and you will find this interesting tidbit. Why don't you put this TRUTH about Chris on your website). Chris has been so gracious will all the fans and signs autographs and takes pics very tirelessly.

And lastly, at least Chris was there at the after party. Where were Taylor, Bucky, Elliott, and Kat? They were doing "THERE OWN THING" and not being with the fans in the after party.

Please STOP SPREADING LIES ABOUT CHRIS DAUGHTRY.

18. Anyone that calls Chris Daughtry a diva hasn't met the man. He is the most humble, gracious person I've been graced with meeting who has to deal with the public on a daily basis. The man spent as much time as he could chatting with me when I met him in July, THANKED my friend and I for coming out and showing support from his "older" fanbase. (As in fans from further back than the Idol days.) And no, he didn't know me PERSONALLY... just knew I supported him and treated me VERY well.

20. Chris Daughtry is certainly NOT A DIVA!!!. I have friends who have waited for hours in the parking lots venues to hopefully get to meet Chris Daughtry and he has spent his time, with visible appreciation towards them, to fulfill their requests of hugs, photos and autographs. Even tho he is recording his album, and giving his audience 110% in his performances, he still finds time for his fans on the meet and greet and in the parking lots of the venues. Your commenting of the fact that he brought extra security with him, Ed from Live was also with him, so apparently there was security enough for both of them. Who would care anyway about how much or how little security they bring ??? Also, noted, was Taylor, Elliott and Bucky were NOT THERE for their fans..the fans who attend these concerts to see their Idols. Chris has tons of fans that would disagree with your article portraying him as a Diva. Please consider your facts before putting out trash and lies about Chris. Chris has integrity about himself and puts his fans first and foremost.

21. chris kicks a** . He doesn't need any show to make him a rockstar. He is already a rockstar. Evidentially some you people don't know good music when you hear it. Or someone that can sing. He will make it to the top. He will make a name for himself. He is already a WINNER. Go Chris. Show all your critics what you are made of.

22. Chris wasnt really nice at the after party in Birmigham. Katharine, Elliot, and Bucky were the nicest. Taylor was really rude too. He came up to the doors smokin, then they turned him around

23. Chris is the furthest thing from a Diva. I know the man and he has taken time
to call many friends and acquaintances and thank them personally for their support (myself included), even while on the road away from his family all summer. The guy can't even keep his new address private for his family's security. He deserves some down time, plus if Ed & the guys from Live were there, it could have very well been THEIR security--think much??

All the idols have been great to their fans with the exception of Taylor and Kat.
There's your divas in this group. I speak from personal experience.

24. Just a comment for the after show meet and greet up here in Sacramento, 8-29-06. Arco Arena Security really is the worst around. Bucky wanted to sign and talk with fans, and the security wouldn't let him; he actually touched my arm and told me that he was sorry. Taylor booked out as well as Paris; they didn't even stop. Mandisa was a doll, and as for Ace, what a total gentleman and all around nice guy. He made sure that everyone had a chance for pics and autographs, even when security was trying to make him blow people off. Class act! A man from security did get my Richmond, Va. book signed by Elliott, which was a very nice gesture, but as far as everyone else, I guess they do not need the fans any longer. I will remember when it comes time to buy a cd. Thanks for the space in which to leave a message. Liz

25. Chris is a a major dive and seems so into his self.

Katharine was not there because she had SO many friends and family visit her backstage that she went back home to have a party so that is understandable that she was not there.

26. Chris and Ace are obviously not "Divas" as you call them, they stood for hours in the heat this summer to sign autographs for their fans, they are true stars and deserve all the attention they are getting.

27. all of you people who think chris isnt "good or big enough" yet...you can just hush! he is a ROCKSTAR!!! just you wait until his cd comes out...he already has billions of fans and once it is released there will be countless people loving him! watch!

28. Calling Chris Daughtry a diva is equal to saying Britney Spears is an angel. Chris is the most down to earth, caring, compassionate talent that has crossed the music industry's path in a very long time.
Diva is a frame of mind. And far too often, it's a dilusional one!
This world better get ready for Chris Daughtry. There is a very obvious reason why he is the most "Wanted" man in these parts now. He deserves it. Because he is about to set the music industry on it's ear, shake out the crap that we are forced to listen to, and change the path that music has taken!!!
Get ready World.....Daughtry is on the loose!!!

30. I'm not sure if it was an "after party" I attended after the last show in Wilkes Barre,PA as it was at a hotel's entertainment area. From experience of being in the public's eye , and yes you/they are their fans because of your genuine, generous support, there are times that one needs quiet, down time, even after a great performance. I understand how it appears to be rude, but unless you persoanlly know the "celebrity" one has no idea what happenend in their life that particular day. As far as my experience at Wilkes Barre, I must say both Chris and Ace were gracious, appreciative, polite and so very sweet. There were lots of people trying to get autographs and photos. I stayed in the background (Personally I wanted to see how hot they were in person.) and observed the scene until the end when their vehicles were ready to leave and NOT ONCE did I see either one turn away from a person. They were so generous with their time. "Diva's"? N O WAY !!!
