NBC to Air "The Real Wedding Crashers"

Ashton KutcherLast year's hit film "Wedding Crashers" will become a reality series as NBC announced its new show, "The Real Wedding Crashers," inspired by the movie. Ashton Kutcher will serve as one of the show's executive producers.

The show will feature hidden cameras that will record improvisational actors who go undercover at real weddings to bring an added element of surprise to the traditional proceedings.

"Everyone loved 'Wedding Crashers' and we wanted to see if we could capture that same kind of inspired frivolity in a real-life series," Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President of Alternative Programs and Development at NBC, said. "Working with Ashton and knowing his memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on 'Punk'd' made it that much more enticing. This series has a big upside potential for hidden-camera humor."

Six episodes have been ordered, with no premiere date set.

16. The movie was very funny. Love the entire cast including Rachel McAdams and of course Owen & Vince. If the bride and groom agree, this could be funny.

17. Very bad idea unless the bride and groom are in on it. One couple in Oklahoma was really mad about Oprah crashing their wedding. It'd probably be a ratings smash, but it's still very cruel.

18. #9 - Oh, Dan...if I turn off my computer I wouldn't be able to read your rant. DOH!

19. No, no NO! This is a huge mistake. I often wonder how network execs can't predict obvious failures such as this yet repeatedly pass on BRILLIANT concepts like Idol and Desperate Housewives.

Some people have no taste, but at least they are limiting their loss by ordering only six episodes. I'm sure production of this show will be cheap, but Ashton's hefty paycheck will be money down the drain for the network. Oh well...Zucker better hope Meredith can hold down the fort on Today to compensate.

20. This belongs on FOX, not NBC (can you say flailing for ratings??). While it has the potential to be hilarious, I tend to agree with most of the posters in that it is really sketchy to screw with someone's wedding. I've know a few Bridezillas over the years and I can only imagine how many heads will explode when one more thing (i.e. Kutcher's tasteless pranks) goes wrong with someone's flawlessly planned event. I agree with the post above that anyone who is the brunt of one of these pranks should get paid - like for the entire wedding, plus something extra. Good to see that us gays aren't the only ones giving a bad name to marriage! (and for the literal among you, that was a joke...)

21. Really Fishbone? Is all of this really frivolous? Really? YOU ARE KIDDING ME! All this time I thought it was all life and death. I just LOVE when people state the obvious. TMZ is a time killer. Are you bored at work? Have you already read all of the daily news you can handle? Do you want something to just get you thru a couple of mind numbing slow moments during your day? THEN THIS IS THE WEBSITE FOR YOU. Hollywood BS is disgusting and I don't buy into it for a moment...that's why it's so DAMN entertaining to me. If you can't discern reality from fluff...perhaps you should STOP READING AND POSTING COMMENTS on this site.
