Affleck to Paparazzi: Youse Guys Suck

Click to return to TMZ.comBen Affleck is getting sick of all the media focus put on his personal life and says it's hurting his career. While promoting his new film "Hollywoodland" at the Venice Film Festival, Affleck had a few words targeted at the celebrity-obesssed culture.

"I think more and more people pay attention to actor's private lives ... it makes it difficult to suspend disbelief when you are going to watch their movie because really what you are thinking about is whatever you have read about them in a magazine rather than the performance they are giving and it makes the actors job harder."

Affleck even got a bit poetic at the presser, telling reporters "the movies become incidental pit stops and commercial breaks in the soap opera of their life."

So that must be why "Daredevil" and "Gigli" were so poorly received -- the audience focused too much on Affleck's life with J. Lo and not his brilliant on-screen performances. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

61. I agree with you Pam, who posted on the 31st. I also think that Ben isnt really speaking about the fans of him or other actors. It is the print / tabloid media he is probably fed up with. Wouldn't you all be who are posting like he is whining. The stalkarazzis are like animals waiting in the bushes for their prey. PATHETIC!

62. You see, just after reading this story, I went on to the one about the Baldwin guy, and it says he was taking a stroll in his pajamas on the boardwalk, when a TMZ INFORMANT came upon him. Life cant be so sweet with these idiots spying on your every move.

63. I agree that all this knowledge about a actor's life can get in the way of watching the movie. I think that about Woody Allen (it was pleasant that Scoop was not about him trying to have another relationship so that didn't come into my mind). I haven't gone to Tom Cruise movies for some time. Julia Roberts, in all her films except for Erin Brockovich, I thought " yep, that's Julia Roberts". I'm glad to not know about Jack Nicolson's life. His films have been memorable and eclectic. I never see Michael Jackson's old stuff without feeling very sad about his childhood and amazed how the public can't pull all the clues together about what he's been doing in his adult life. I have never been a Ben Affleck fan so that in itself is not an issue. I enjoyed "Monster-in-law". Jennifer Lopez had such good actresses around her, Jane Fonda and Wanda Sykes so I wasn't drawn into thinking about Lopez' life. I admire Jane Fonda so her history doesn't interfere with the enjoyment of what she creates.

64. Movie and movie stars have been around for a long time, things are out of hand. Actors, politicains, sports Icon's all have been put into another realm. Yes they get payed way too much for what they do. But its the fans that have to know the last detail of everything that has pushed it so far. Let them do their job and entertain us. I didn't need to know Rock Hudson's private life, or who has the most expensive collar for their dog.

69. As far as assfleck is concerned he's a whiny biatch. He needs a kleenex and some testosterone. On another note what the hell is up with kevin federline? You mean if I bang a has been teen pop idol I too can start my own record label and get jobs that people who actually have talent should have? People make no sense, especially those who are obsessed with talentless braindead pretty boys. Barbie has more street cred that kevin federline.

70. Wait a minute here, I just realized something.....I can't remember the last time I saw him on the cover or in a magazine, except with jennifer and the baby. Maybe just strolling in the park. What in the world is he talking about?! Yikes!! It's almost pathetic that the putz thinks so highly of himself.

75. The only thing hurting his career is his sh*tty acting. period. Why doesn't he move to a small town and teach movie making classes at the local college. Or here's another option...make a good movie you clown and be grateful that people throwing money at you to see it. GAWD
