18. You know my Great Grandparents Lucy and Desi held the olympic torch of not so private break ups. To imagine what they indured in their lives really had to suck. Having a not private life and trying to have a private break up. Break-ups are very similar to mouring someone who has passed. It's the death of a relationship, best friend and confidant (minus their actually dying) and having to live again. I am sure the song brings back many feelings Ms. Simpson once had and she's still in that mouring process or it could be that she is at that tailend like my GreatGrandparents aired one of their final kisses on TV. My greatgrandfather always said, It was the end of many things, the show, and closure to our life together. I Love Lucy was never just a title.

I hope for Jess, this is the end and the beginning to something new.

Jessica Simpson: Disaster of Epic Proportions?

Jessica Simpson may have a rude awakening when sales figures are counted for last week’s CDs today.

Simpson’s "A Public Affair" stood at No. 52 last night on Amazon.com, well below still-unreleased albums by her generational peers Beyonce and Justin Timberlake.

Even worse, most of the reviews written by fans and customers on the Amazon.com page for "A Public Affair" give the album one or two stars and are heavily critical.

It could be that Simpson, like Paris Hilton, has finally oversaturated her market with style (so to speak) over substance. Hilton’s crummy debut album was hovering around No. 95 last night on Amazon.

Of course, Amazon isn’t the only reference point for sales of pop CDs, but it’s a fairly good measure of consumer interest. Right now, Bob Dylan’s "Modern Times" is lodged at No. 1 with no signs of slipping. The great American musical icon has received countless kudos for his latest offering.

If Simpson, like Hilton, actually has tanked with this release, we can expect serious repercussions at her label, Epic, a division of Sony.

In the last week, both the company and Simpson’s people tried to stir up interest in the divorced newlywed by giving both People and Us Weekly “exclusives” on her “romance” with another Sony artist — the actually talented John Mayer.

But the people I spoke to at Sony told me on Friday that they had no idea if such a thing were true, and that no one had ever seen the two together.

“I think a date constitutes being seen in public at dinner or something,” laughed one insider. “So far, that hasn’t happened.”

Simpson has never been a heavyweight as a singer, but made her reputation as the comedic foil to ex-husband Nick Lachey on MTV’s "Newlyweds."

Like many of today’s performers, she seems more interested in generating publicity than in doing anything remotely linked to artistry. Consequently, we’d be hard-pressed to name a Simpson song, let alone hum a few notes. Her new album, "A Public Affair," doesn’t do much to dispel that idea.

One last-ditch effort has been made to save Simpson’s album, however: The next single from the album, called “I Belong to Me,” was originally left off the CD — it was a bonus track for Wal-Mart customers — because Simpson didn’t like it. But in a poll, fans voted it their second favorite track after the title song, so it’s back.

Luckily, Epic won't have to worry if Jessica goes south. Its Shakira/Wyclef Jean record, "Hips Don't Lie," is the biggest hit of the year. And rock group The Fray is about to break through courtesy of exposure on "Grey's Anatomy."

20. She is just trying to build up some momentum for her new album. The bad songs from the new album suck, so she has to sing something old to once again surf the Newleywed wave.
John Mayer dissed her, told us not to believe the hype from the JOE machine...she was so in LOVE, for about 15 minutes.....now that doesn't have that crap to sell, it's back to poor me, Nick is gone....

Jessica even slipped on The View today and mentioned that her mom helps with the fashion business Jess has going and her dad, while not involved in the fashion end, basically controls her and Ashley in everything else. Then Jessica immediately caught herself and said that was a bad choice of words. (But no doubt the truth - straight from her own mouth!).

Hard to know whether she's still sad about Nick, but I wouldn't put it past her father to stage a few moments (Early Show, MTV Special) showing a softer side of Jessica feeling emotional about the divorce. TV and celebrity is so methodically planned out and scripted with every decision made for a reason.

You can still love someone adn realize to be with them its not a great decision.
WHO CARES. She is crying its sad. Everyone has broken up w/someone at some point.

24. This girl and her father are so full of it!!! Jessicas story about being in love with John Mayer is a ton of crap!!! Are we really to believe this?? Just because Jessica and her father are hillbilly's doesnt mean that we the general public just fell off the turn up truck! She is so jealous of nick's romance with Vanessa ( who I personaly hope they end up together and have a baby!) That she has her father try and convince everyone that she is so in love with someone else! The only person Jessica loves is herself! She's so selfish and spoiled! She will forever remain selfish and never understand the meaning of life! She will be an old bitter lady one day and she will look back and realize the mistakes she made in life! Shopping can only fulfill a moment of happiness for you! She is so jealous of everyone around her lately it's sickening!!! She is jealous of her sister's music carrer being better than hers! She is jelaous of Nick and Vanessa! She's aged quite a bit in the past year! Has anyone even noticed that?? Her face used to be smooth and youthful and now she has crows feet and age lines! She's been already dabbing into platic surgery and it's taking a toll on her in a bad way! When someone is too young to strat dabbing with plastic surgery it actualy has the opposite affects on your skin! She is not happy with her life and she is constantly depressed and the surgery is having opposite effects! The stress of trying to pretend all is well with her is making her crack! She is looking lately like a has been socialite who is having too much botox,collagin injections, eye brow lift etc.. to her face that she eventualy will be looking like Janice Dickenson belieing that she still looks 18! A word of advice to the once starlet. Get a therapist one that does not get paid by your Daddy! And realize that your father is doing all of this to you!

26. I'm astounded by how wrong TMZ is getting stories lately. Last week, you claimed you had Paula Abdul on tape, and it clearly was not her.
As for this one, watch the tape of her voice cracking from The Today Show, and that's clearly why she's upset and crying - because she can't perform up to snuff on national TV.

27. First and most importantly This girl cannot sing or act, the only thing that put her on the map is T/A. She is just like Britney Spears. Make big money quick and then disappear, because they have no real talent they are pre packaged to sell. 28. Let it out Jess! So what if she was crying about Nick? She's human! It's a sad state of affairs and it takes time to get over a broken heart. I think it's great that she shows the human side of celebrity. She's like the rest of us. She loves, hate, gets cranky, goes to the bathroom, eats, etc... Why the surprise? Nick hurt her! I've been there too and I learned it's much better to let it out then to bottle it up, even if it is in public. I imagine she tried not to cry but as I said before, she's human. She also might have been crying over Nick and the fact that her throat was killing and she sounded a bit rough. I applaud her efforts to perform. JESS, YOU GO GIRL! YOU NEED TO CRY, HONEY, DO IT! You'll get over it a lot faster and go on with your life and then, when you've healed and found someone else, you'll thank God that you moved on because you'll be much happier! God Speed, child! 30. If Jessica still loves Nick, then she ought to tell him - how hard is that. But seriously - her Dad is really strange and involved in her life way to much. I saw an interview that her Dad did and all he talked about was Jessica's boobs and then he proceeded to go on about how hot she looked in her bikini for the "Boots" video. I think her Dad played a hand in the break up of her marriage - no doubt - but Jessica is a big girl so there is some blame to fall on her plate as well. Either way, I think the family is strange and I think if her Dad had his way, he would leave his wife and start banging his daughter.
