Jessica Cries After Performing Song About Nick

She fought back the tears on stage, but moments after Jessica Simpson rocked the "CBS Early Show" with a song that was once an anthem for her relationship with Nick Lachey, the emotions apparently became overwhelming.

Audience members probably didn't expect Simpson to belt out her 2004 hit "With You," but she did. The most shocking moment, however, came minutes after she finished her performance. Jessica can be seen shaking and crying, as her BFF/hairdresser Ken Paves attempts to console her. Was it the song's subject or was her throat hurting?

Either way, "With You," which was released during the peak of "Newlyweds" fame, featured a music video that attempted to parallel the hit show. In it, Nick and Jessica can be seen playing around in their mansion, and making light of the shows most memorable moments (i.e. Jessica's infamous Chicken of the Sea moment).

46. I think JEssica is SMART WITH KNOWING WHAT TO DO FOR ATTENTION!! on her "show" she knew what to do to get attention. even if it meant acting stupid!!! And on the today show she knew what to do to get some media talking about her again!!!. CRYING IS ATTENTION WEATHER GOOD OR BAD!!

Jessica is a BIG FAKE!!! she has her hairdressor, Make-up artist, personal cloth buyer, personal asst. and of course many others who must travel beside her to keep her in tip top shape!! if she was a REAL PRETTY LADY SHE WOULD KNOW HOW TO DO ALL THAT HERSELF!! ever seen what she looks like when she is not all done up by her TEAM??? 47. They just finished hashing out the financial part of their divorce. She is crying because of all the money she just lost...I would be too if I were that stupid...

48. All of this stress must be taking it's toll on her. She is getting chubby. She is still cute as a button though. She just needs to relax and time will heal all.

49. #15 - I couldn't agree more!! The girl sucks - and probably isn't selling any albums - so she's digging into the old stuff hoping people remember the show and buy the new album - SUCKERS!!! I wouldn't listen to her crap if they were GIVING IT AWAY....... The only GOOD ACTING she does - is when she cries!!!! I think she may think it gains her some sympathy - WRONG!!! I agree with the posts renaming her - MISS ANYTHING FOR A BUCK!!!!

50. I love Jessica, she is pretty, and I do like her music. But you guys can be so cruel, she's a nice girl, who's been thru so much this past year. She needs encouragement now & has needed it through this past yr. All she's gotten is cruel & hurtful comments. Give this girl a break!

51. Boy, I've been saying this all along, that Nick really hurt Jessica, but all I kept hearing, were cruel comments about Jess. These people should be ashamed of them selves. She still is truly hurting, not acting, and continues to not date anyone since Nick. Unfortunately, Nick does not feel the same way at all, and already is serious with someone else. I am sure Jessica had good reason for filing for divorce, as it is Nick who hurt her deeply. Jessica, you continue to surround yourself with true people, who care about you. Let Nick have the wild Hollywood lifestyle, and you stay true to your heart. Love ya Jessica

52. Jessica is not faking anything. It's quite apparent she still loves Nick very much. She might have been the one who filed for divorce, but nobody knows the reasons why. Until then, it is very wrong to judge someone, not knowing the real story. Jessica will always be a brave individual, to go thru a divorce, for all the world to see, and with all the cruel comments about her. She is a classy, beautiful girl, and I wish her all the good luck in the world. TEAM SIMPSON

56. I really don't like Jessica, however I can understand how she may feel. After a couple divorces ( regardless of which one asks for the divorce), you experience a sense of "mourning" for the relationship. For the love that once was and is no longer. Something so simple as singing a song you've sung a million times, may one day provoke a certain memory and make you cry your eyes out. I think Jessica and Nick both love one another, they just aren't in love anymore. THAT my friends, is the reason they both get teary eyed.

I feel sorry for both Nick and Jessica. Hang in there, you'll both find love again.
but just so you know.... I won't be buying either albums.

It is clear that it is her throat that is bothering her...anyone who knows anything about singing can tell that the way that she is gesturing her hand towards her throat, her chest and her diaphragm exhibits that she struggling with her voice, trying to sing from a place that doesn't hurt. She didn't write the lyrics to that song thus she probably did not attach any meaning to it in the first place. Isn't she with John Mayer? WHO CARES?!
