The TomKat Publicity Tour Rages On

Since Tom Cruise's very public firing by Viacom head Sumner Redstone (which owns Paramount Pictures), he and Katie Holmes have put the PR machine into overdrive. TomKat have made getting back in the media's good graces and shedding their bizarre personas their mission impossible.

First, Tom makes a house call to Brooke Shields and apologizes for attacking her in the press last year for her use of antidepressants. Although Cruise still feels the same about the evils of prescription pills, his "heartfelt apology" is the first step in healing his career.

Next, Tom's paramour, Katie, er, Kate Holmes, tries to prove all is well in Cruise-dom by shopping and dining at trendy LA restaurant The Ivy on Tuesday with Katie's and Tom's mothers in tow. Coincidence? Not on your life! Everyone in the business knows going to The Ivy is the Hollywood equivalent of a Sears portrait studio.

Finally, the ever-elusive Suri Cruise surfaces.

Tuesday night, the "CBS Evening News" debuted the first image of the happy family on the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair, which put to rest months of questions, rumors and conspiracy theories regarding the TomKitten's whereabouts.

While no one can predict what Tom's next highly calculated move will be, at this rate it won't be long before Matt Lauer receives a Cruise call.

61. The REALLY sad thing is that people will buy their baloney! ET ran a promotion for Mel Gibson's Apocalypto the other night- ET is owned by Paramount... it all goes 'round and 'round... they're freaky, but they're celebrity and people will line up to be near them.... Michael Jackson for example?

63. The pictures in Vanity Fair of Suri, look just like Katie and Tom. Her ears are just like Tom's. She has facial features like Katie. Suri is a cute baby.

64. Great job #5-I don't even know why I read this crap. This world would be a better place if everyone would just mind their own business.

65. I think that they are human beings with feelings and they should be given space to worship, shop, travel, raise their children, etc., when, where and however they wish, as long as they aren't hurting anyone. All the rest of us have those rights. Correct? This is America afterall; when did we all decide to sit in judgement? That said, Tom drew a lot of negative attention to himself with his comments and behaviors this past year ... seemed to be getting up on the pulpit a bit too much for the public's taste, and prehaps we felt spoken down to, and preached to, and yes, judged by him. I think the public lashed back and it snowballed. I think that they are a very sweet looking couple, and they clearly love their baby. Leave them be, let them do what they do best: entertain us. I wish them many blessings.

66. why are you all so obsessed with scientology? Do you really belive that Jeuss rose from the dead? it's no more a cult than christianity. I'm not either but let people belive what they want to believe--it doesn't affect you lot. Leave them alone. I wouldn't show a bunch of judgemental bigoted Americans my kid either.

67. wow, #7, I hope you never have kids with that mouth. And if you do, please call the authorities. What an uneducated, judgemental ignorant post.

68. So, when is TMZ going to issue it's apology to the Cruise/Holmes family for the vile, snide villification it has heaped upon them for the past months? Immediately, one would hope. When I came to read this site, thought it would include interesting entertainment news. What a disappointment to find it includes just cheap, fabricated, tawdry gossip. And cultivates comments by people who apparently are rude, cruel and borderline nuts. Tom Cruise is a terrific actor, one of the very best today, who hopefully will grace the screen with many more films. Katie Holmes is one very lucky young woman, with such a beautiful family. Entertainment press would be a great deal more entertaining if it propagated real news and film critiques. And finally, is there really anyone in this country who thinks it is okay to give psychotropic drugs that can permanently alter the function of the brain to children under 10? Best congratulations to Tom and katie on their continued success and happiness.

69. Come on people!! Don't you think the Tom and Katie bashing is a going a bit too far. And as far as the child is concerned, you guys need to quit. It's a baby, people. Just a baby. You guys wonder why celebrity children grow up with complexes and serious emotional issues. Could it be that they grow up reading stuff written by people like you about them not really being their parent's child and other negative comments about the way they look. Anyone with eyes in their head can see that the baby has the shape of Tom's head and it's facial features look exactly like Katie. While I don't really approve of all that Tom has done over the last year, I think it really unfair of most of you to take it out on their child. Some of the comments written have been extreme to the point of ridiculousness. Go back and read some of the comments and ask yourself who seems like the "weirdos" -- Tom and Katie? Or some of the the commentors? And no I'm not a Scientologist or a TomKat fan. I'm just a concerned mother witnessing what her child might be reading on the internet today about people she's seen on television. When you have an 11-year-old ask you why their saying such mean things about a baby; what did the baby do; and your only answer is that it was born, you have to take a step back and go WOW!!

70. My god you people. You have never done something your not real happy with? I thought he was a little wierd last year too. But so what!! he is an amazing guy who I think is a compassionate human. and saves lives. GIve him a chance...

71. Oh, my God!! I just saw the pictures of Tom & Katie's baby, and you know what I thought it look like? A baby, that's what! Wow!! I'm still reeling from the fact that it looked like a baby. You know what else I was shocked by -- they're Scientologists. Can you believe it? I sure can't. I thought everyone in the world was Catholic like me. I'm truly stunned to think that someone out there is a different religion than me. I don't know how I will go on. And you know what else freaked me out? They're human!! They do weird things like make mistakes, say things they're later sorry for, attempt to apologize later for making people feel bad. I'm really going to have to start paying more attention. I mean, I thought everyone was like me -- perfect, no individuality, believe in the same things, I never say or do anything wrong. I am completely above reproach as is everyone else except for those two and their baby. I know what we can do. Let's hate them!! Yeah!! Let's talk about them, drag their names through the mud. Let's talk about their baby to death. Let's make them and their baby that looks like a baby feel ashamed to be alive and to believe in anything other than what we believe. Maybe after enough abuse and pain, they will at last become like the rest of us -- perfect, without fault, without individuality, without --- sense.

In other words --- GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!

72. 65. why are you all so obsessed with scientology?

Posted at 12:24PM on Sep 7th 2006 by J

Because scientology kills and is a evil, evil organization caring only about money.

I worked for a company that used scientology business methods. It was intrusive into my personal life and a general nightmare.

73. Wow #50 - you've really gotten into this whole thing. Damn, you really got balls to think that Tom Cruise should do a DNA test (with REPUTABLE people, of course) just to satisfy you and the general public. So, let's say he does do a DNA test and it says Suri is his biological child. What would you pull out of your hat then - maybe crap like "well, just cause it's his doesn't mean they slept together. There's sperm collection you know." Let me guess, if that were the case you would say, "Well, I won't believe it til someone shows me a picture of the conception". Have you listened to yourself?? That's pure audacity to come up with some of your comments. So what if he's been married twice and had no kids. You say that's "kinda strange". Last I heard it still takes two to make that baby - perhaps neither wife was willing to put their careers on hold to have babies. I've seen some of his movies and have enjoyed most that I've seen. I even bought one DVD - so perhaps I've shelled out $100 over the years on Tom Cruise. That doesn't give me the right to think I now DESERVE the kind of proof you seem to think you deserve. As for the posing of the pictures - did ya ever think that perhaps the professional photographer that Vanity Fair sent to do the layout may have been the one calling the shots? I'd love to see your reaction if your next door neighbor requested a DNA test on your children (if you have any) just because she thinks she has a right to know.

It's quite ironic that your would admonish people to mind their own business after commenting on someone elses comment. Do not as I do...

Oh, and by the way, you are at a gossip site.
