Former House Leader Weighs In on "Dancing" Race

Tom DeLayTom DeLay, the House Majority Leader who was forced to resign earlier this year, has decided to pitch in his two cents about one of America's tightest races. No, not a political race. We're talking about the new season of "Dancing With the Stars."

DeLay, a former Republican congressman from Texas, sent out a letter to his supporters urging them to watch -- and vote for -- country singer Sara Evans in the third season of the popular ABC show. "Sara Evans has been a strong supporter of the Republican Party and represents good American values in the media," DeLay wrote. "We have always been able to count on Sara for her support of the things we all believe in. Let's show Sara that same support."

But DeLay's comments weren't just limited to supporting Evans. No, DeLay also took the time to bash one of Evans' competitors. "One of her opponents on the show is ultra liberal talk show host Jerry Springer," DeLay wrote. "We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television by supporting good people like Sara Evans."

"Dancing With the Stars" premieres September 12.

16. This man is pitiful. He can no longer bully or buy his way around Congress, so now he's trying to push his agenda on a reality show? I feel sorry for Miss Evans. Having a criminal back you publicly is probably the best way to lose. This competition is not to pick the best right-wing lackey, but to pick the best dancer. Maybe when Tommy-boy goes to jail he can bribe his way to "Bubba's Favorite Bedmate".

17. Who the f* cares what this guy thinks!?!?! Shouldn't he be more concerned with future indictments, than a reality TV show. What a douche!

18. What an idiot. He really displays such wonderful "American values" doesn't he? What a crook and an idiot. Someone needs to tell him his opinion means nothing anymore. He makes me want to chant....you all feel it...I know you do!!!!

JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!!!!!!!!!

19. Tom Delay WASTED thousands of taxpayer dollars for his own crude. He should be in prison not joking around, the jerk he is. Did you know before he was a mucky muck he was the Orkin man LOL

20. Tom Delay is an idiot and should be in jail instead of shooting his mouth off. I'd hardly want him in my corner giving me support. Springer probably just won it because of the backlash Delay's comments will bring.

21. Poor Delay. He is a disgraced disgraced politician who has no place nowhere. Do us and yourself a favor and shut up!

22. I am from Houston where this guy "represented" us. He is hands down one of the most corrupt politicians of late. He has done nothing for Houston except to get big government contracts for his oil buddies and has left the rest of us with rising Harris County taxes. He attends "charity" events that require a $5k or $10k donation which he gets comped. At one point he actually attempted to write off a charity donation dispite not donating anything.!! Yes, he is such a stellar example of good wholesome values. The mere sight of him makes me sick.

23. Thanks for the heads up on who NOT to support. An endorsement from that freak is a death knell in anyone's "career" and credibility. What a tosser!

24. Delay is a skumbag, I wouldn't piss on his head if his hair was on fire! Why won't this disgraced bug man go back to what he does best, dealing with rodents and pests.

25. What good American values he has?? Didn't this guy have to resign after scandal?? And isn't he jumping the gun a little? How does he know that Sara Evans can dance better than Jerry Springer?? Just for that, I think I will vote for the BEST dancer!

26. Poor Sara.... People are voting for her because they like her?? NOT voting for her because they hate DeLay? What ever happened to voting for her if she can dance. Someone posted that they will vote for her if she is a fan... I am a fanof Emeril Lagasse... but I bet he can't dance.... And look at Barry Manilow-- LOTS of people adore him-- he is making millions even today--- I am here to tell you -- that man seem sweet, but he cannot dance! What is wrong with people!! Vote for the most entertaining person- no matter their popularity.

27. I like Sara Evans as much as the next person but i am voting for the person i think deserves my vote, not just because some crook told me to vote for this person.

28. Tom DeLay is a disgrace to the Republican Party. He'll say anything to deflect attention away from his own immorallity. However, he'll still have my support when he competes in "Dancing with the Felons" at Club Fed.

29. This is a dance contest, not an election. If anything delay hurt this lady instead of helping her. He also hurt himself.

30. This jackass still doesn't get it. You vote for the best dancer, not the chick whose music or political views or favorite cola best floats your boat. Do the words "special interests" mean anything? That's why he has no fucking job. I can't stand Jerry Springer, but if he can out-mambo Emmitt Smith and the rest of the "Dancing With the Stars" field, by golly he should be champ. Should Tom Delay earn fantasy football points for having more felonies on his record than anyone else in his league? Of course not. While he, his colleagues and his cell mates may believe the former to be an impressive achievement, it has absolutely nothing to do with the latter. I don't know what pisses me off most, Delay's dumbass mug shot, his actions or the fact that he's actually made me give a shit about "Dancing With the Stars."
