Lets Get This Party Started
Rosie Scores Big in "View" Debut

For all the hype and the uncertainty about what might happen on "The View" once Rosie O'Donnell arrived, one thing's for sure: A lot more people are watching, at least according to the ratings for Rosie's first day.

Rosie's debut on Tuesday attracted 4 million viewers nationwide, which was a 54 percent jump from the same day a year ago, when the show attracted 2.7 million viewers, reports the New York Post. What's more, the show also increased its numbers among its sweet-spot audience, women 18-49 years old.

Of course, it's been a good week for debuting talk and news programs. Katie Couric's first night as the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" drew a huge 9.1 rating, more than doubling the rating from the year before. And "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" opened its fourth season on Monday with a record 3.3 rating, which was nearly 30 percent better than its season premiere from 2005.

Reality Princesses Engage in Boy-Swapping

Just as things appear to be heating up between Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner, it seems that Jenner's ex-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari and Richie's ex-fiance Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein might be getting together as well. Two separate sources today report that the pair, in New York for a Guess anniversary party and other events, hung out together at celeb-boite Bungalow 8. Lloyd Grove says they were there until 4 a.m. "cuddling" while Page Six says Cavallari "chatted up" Goldstein until 3. Still, they did arrive at Capitale for the Guess gala together, though AM's rep insists that the two are "just friends."

Lionel Worried That Nicole Will Become Next Princess Di

Meanwhile, pop legend Lionel Richie says that he took his daughter Nicole to a doctor because he was worried about her dramatic weight loss, and that the doctor assured him that she isn't afflicted with anorexia, despite the pictorial evidence. "I stood in front of [the doctor], just like you and I now, looked him in the eyes, and I said 'Is it anorexia?'" says Richie, in the Swedish newspaper Expressen (via MSNBC). "And he said, 'It isn't anorexia.'"

Lionel attributes Nicole's weight issues to stress, and says that he lives "with the constant fear that Nicole is going to become the next Princess Diana" because she is followed so relentlessly by the paparazzi. "I always know when Nicole is on her way home because she is always followed by a helicopter and seven cars. It's harassment," says Richie.

Four More Years For Letterman

David Letterman will be coming to your late-night TV screen for at least four more years. According to sources cited by the Hollywood Reporter, Letterman is "close to finalizing" a contract extension with CBS that will keep him as the host of "The Late Show with David Letterman" through the 2009-2010. There was never any doubt that the deal with be made, says the sources, and it will keep Dave on the air one year longer than Jay Leno, who is slated to finish his tenure on "The Tonight Show" sometime in 2009.

This round of negotiations stands in stark contrast to the last time the two sides had to make a deal over four years ago, when Letterman felt underappreciated by CBS and nearly jumped ship to ABC.

Party Favors: Aiken Named To Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Spielberg and Lloyd Webber Get Kennedy Nods, Paris' Grandma Was Reportedly A Mob Moll

According to the White House, former "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken has been named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. The committee was originally formed in 1961 by President Kennedy as the President's Panel on Mental Retardation. Aiken has worked as a YMCA counselor ... Andrew Lloyd Webber, Steven Spielberg, Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson, and conductor Zubin Mehta have been anointed this year's Kennedy Center honorees ... Paris Hilton's grandmother, according to a new book about the Hilton family, was married to a notorious gangland figure when her daughter Kathy – Paris' mom – fell in love with her dad, says Page Six. The underworld figure isn't named, but Paris has talked about her grandmother being "her best friend."

31. the show is better the it EVER HAS BEEN with Rosie on it. She's charismatic, intelligent and is able to defuse tension and such with her humor. Keeping the discussion lively and cat-fight free.

32. I think it will take a little time to see the effects of Rosie being on the show. Because everyone is trying too hard to make it work...and really thats what you are suppose to do, make it work. But don't make it seem like you are trying to fit a square peg in a cirlcle hole. The newness will wear off as well as the novelty and you will lose some and win some fans. Rosie did do better than I thought she would, but that's because she was holding back a bit. It could swing into being Rosie's View if the ladies don't watch out!

33. I think Rosie is a great reason to watch The View. She is so unpredictable and that adds a level of excitement that was definitely not present before. I do sense a level of tension on the set and it bothers me...because I think Rosie is the shot in the arm this show needed. I hope the perceived tension is a result of everyone just trying to settle in to the new dynamics of a new host. For starters, Barbara is wound so tight and seems to be annoyed with everything Rosie says and does. Barbara's feelings are so transparent on her face! Joy, I agree with someone else, does try to stomp on Rosie in a round-about humorous way. Elisabeth seems to be going with the flow the best. It's disappointing because I want to see the cohosts enjoying each others company. I wish I could tell them that Rosie is an awesome addition to the show and it would be even better if they appear to like each other!

34. It is nice to know she has "fur" and she bathes with minor children.
But do we need to hear about it on tv? And is there some law about adults bathing with minors not babies?
This person is sick as M Jackson is.

38. Star was a bitch. Rosie is a rose LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

39. Rosie is one of the funniest, kind and most generous celebrities out there. I can't believe people only see her as gay and fat. Did people only watch Star Jones because she was fat and black? Being gay is only part of a person, and a small one at that. If these "perfect" people don't want to watch the view, change the channel. I for one will now start. I couldn't stand Star Jones. She was so fake. At least Rosie talks and jokes about her flaws (which by the way, we all have). Star just pretended she didn't have any. Asking for donations for her wedding when she make all the money she does. I wish Rosie only the best as she returns to TV. the View couldn't have made a better choice. Now they need to get rid of Elizabeth.

40. Rosie is just what the view needed--a fresh approach. I think Rosie and Joy Behar are the best things on that show. Their comedy is wonderful to watch. Barbara adds some dignity and of course is the matriach of the show. However, Elisabeth is most irritating and I hope to see her leave soon. She just comes across as so uptight and rigid in her views, unable to see anyone else's viewpoint. The last straw was when she said during the show that Monique co-hosted that if her husband had an "intimate conversation" with someone that she considered that cheating. Apparently in her mind, her hubby can only speak to her. I was glad when Joy set her straight and said having sex with another person is cheating, not talking!!!

41. Yeah Rosie! I turned on The View only because Rosie was on. I'll watch every chance I get.....she's so darn funny, talented, and smart. FYI I'm a 63 year old, straight, grandma....but I recognize talent when I see it.

42. Watched the first half of The View this am (Thurs.). Rosie HAS toned it down and doesn't hog the conversation like she did the first day. She's a fine addition -- like her much more than Meredith or Star. I can see Rosie and Joy getting into it some day -- they both are very opinionated and don't mind voicing it.

43. I am very happy that TMZ frequently shares stories about The View. I don't know why, but I am very intrigued by the goings-on there ever since Meredith announced that she was leaving. It's fun to watch the catfights and daily dynamics of these coworkers, because I think most people can relate to liking coworkers, but then having them get on your nerves too because you are around them so much and because you are often competing with them too. And of course, everyone knows what it's like to have a boss and having to kiss up to them, as all these ladies do with Barbara. ie: "Oh Barbra, you were the trendsetter in the nightly news industry for women!" - when discussing Katie Couric's first day. It seems that is the best way to get in with Barbra is to stroke her ego a little and play by her rules, of course. But she is the boss and that is understandable. Because I was such a huge fan of Rosie's first show, I was so excited at the choice to bring her on. And I disliked Star Jones so much. I couldn't believe how much she got on my nerves - and she's just a television personality that I don't have to deal with. She was so condescending and high and mighty about so many things. Her comments frequently became cliches about life (and how great her life is and how she is living it correctly and others aren't) and not realistic. I was thrilled to see her go and again was intrigued by the drama that ensued from that entire situation. I don't usually post on these sites, but The View and all the interesting sidebars that have come from it recently have captivated my interest!

44. I don't believe the ratings are up with Rosie on the View and if they are it won't last long. She is aloud mouth idiot lesbo.
