Lets Get This Party Started
Rosie Scores Big in "View" Debut

For all the hype and the uncertainty about what might happen on "The View" once Rosie O'Donnell arrived, one thing's for sure: A lot more people are watching, at least according to the ratings for Rosie's first day.

Rosie's debut on Tuesday attracted 4 million viewers nationwide, which was a 54 percent jump from the same day a year ago, when the show attracted 2.7 million viewers, reports the New York Post. What's more, the show also increased its numbers among its sweet-spot audience, women 18-49 years old.

Of course, it's been a good week for debuting talk and news programs. Katie Couric's first night as the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" drew a huge 9.1 rating, more than doubling the rating from the year before. And "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" opened its fourth season on Monday with a record 3.3 rating, which was nearly 30 percent better than its season premiere from 2005.

Reality Princesses Engage in Boy-Swapping

Just as things appear to be heating up between Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner, it seems that Jenner's ex-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari and Richie's ex-fiance Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein might be getting together as well. Two separate sources today report that the pair, in New York for a Guess anniversary party and other events, hung out together at celeb-boite Bungalow 8. Lloyd Grove says they were there until 4 a.m. "cuddling" while Page Six says Cavallari "chatted up" Goldstein until 3. Still, they did arrive at Capitale for the Guess gala together, though AM's rep insists that the two are "just friends."

Lionel Worried That Nicole Will Become Next Princess Di

Meanwhile, pop legend Lionel Richie says that he took his daughter Nicole to a doctor because he was worried about her dramatic weight loss, and that the doctor assured him that she isn't afflicted with anorexia, despite the pictorial evidence. "I stood in front of [the doctor], just like you and I now, looked him in the eyes, and I said 'Is it anorexia?'" says Richie, in the Swedish newspaper Expressen (via MSNBC). "And he said, 'It isn't anorexia.'"

Lionel attributes Nicole's weight issues to stress, and says that he lives "with the constant fear that Nicole is going to become the next Princess Diana" because she is followed so relentlessly by the paparazzi. "I always know when Nicole is on her way home because she is always followed by a helicopter and seven cars. It's harassment," says Richie.

Four More Years For Letterman

David Letterman will be coming to your late-night TV screen for at least four more years. According to sources cited by the Hollywood Reporter, Letterman is "close to finalizing" a contract extension with CBS that will keep him as the host of "The Late Show with David Letterman" through the 2009-2010. There was never any doubt that the deal with be made, says the sources, and it will keep Dave on the air one year longer than Jay Leno, who is slated to finish his tenure on "The Tonight Show" sometime in 2009.

This round of negotiations stands in stark contrast to the last time the two sides had to make a deal over four years ago, when Letterman felt underappreciated by CBS and nearly jumped ship to ABC.

Party Favors: Aiken Named To Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Spielberg and Lloyd Webber Get Kennedy Nods, Paris' Grandma Was Reportedly A Mob Moll

According to the White House, former "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken has been named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. The committee was originally formed in 1961 by President Kennedy as the President's Panel on Mental Retardation. Aiken has worked as a YMCA counselor ... Andrew Lloyd Webber, Steven Spielberg, Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson, and conductor Zubin Mehta have been anointed this year's Kennedy Center honorees ... Paris Hilton's grandmother, according to a new book about the Hilton family, was married to a notorious gangland figure when her daughter Kathy – Paris' mom – fell in love with her dad, says Page Six. The underworld figure isn't named, but Paris has talked about her grandmother being "her best friend."

46. I love Rosie. She is cool, shoots straight from the hip. The View was getting old and stale, she'll liven it up.

Go Rosie

47. LOL, anyone who thinks that the first few days' worth of rating mean anything are clueless. The novelty of Rosie will wear off, and the ratings will drop as people realize that she's an illiterate scumbage.

48. I like Rosie...I just wish she would stop mentioning that idiot Tom Cruise so often...what is he doing? Paying her or something! LOL

49. My sexual orientation (hetero) and weight (not fat) have nothing to do with why I've been watching the View since Rosie started. I watch it because Rosie is smart, funny and strong.
Yes, she needs to "settle" into the show. Call me crazy but doesn't anyone starting a new job need time to adjust and find a balance at that job?

53. Someone (me, I guess) should tell a previous blogger that " antics" and "animals"
are spelled without apostrophes before the closing "s". Apostrophes denote possession not plurality. One should learn how to write before writing to a national audience.

54. We loved the View you had before you guys made this change....The crew with Joy, Elizabeth, Meredith, Star & lets not forget Barbara, That was an awesome bunch of ladies. We really enjoyed watching the program. It was like the highlight of our morning during our break at work. It was an honest show of good laughs, serious topics & all american good fun. As much as all of us here at work loved sitting down & taking our break with the Morning Crew on the View. We all here have taken a vote & we will not be watching this program anymore. Havent you ever heard if something is not broke... dont fix it. Well that show use to be "The top of the morning " for all of us here. But now that Meredith & Star have left & their seat has been filled by this crude ill mannered loud mouth. Man of all the people that this program could have hired you had to scrap the bottom of the barrel for that..... omg thats awful. The show wasnt based on just the older viewers it was everybody, Im only 23yrs old & I loved the it the way it was. & to quote a few of people I know that say that they think this would be great for teenagers to see how real women act.. Well honestly I wouldnt want my daughter to act anything like Rosie O'Donnell. Geez shes no roll model. She has a filthy mouth, shes crude....On top of that shes very ill mannered & disrspectful to everyone. This is for Joy, Elizabeth & Barbara... Good luck guys your really going to need it. And have a Blessed Day !
Love to the Old View Show,
Tee Tee & all the fans you had here at work. :)

55. I have watched Rosie and The View forever. Both shows were/are great! I believe that it will take some time to get all the kinks out of the new format, but eventually it will be fantastic. I've noticed that there is less "cross talk." LOL Rosie is trying her hardest to fit in, and do what is expected of her. Give her a chance.

By the way, that big screen right behind the ladies is very distracting, especially when the pictures are NOT in sync with what the ladies are talking about. Fix it!!!!

56. Has Barbara Walters gone senile??????? There certainly is class distinction on the show now. Behar is a class act. Thats one thing O'Donnell will never be. She's a loud mouth egomaniac lesbian flaunting her sexuality to the public every time she's on TV. Who needs to watch that? She's a woman???? Where is the femininity in Roseie O'Donnell?????? She's more a truck driver dyke The View is headed for the garbage dump.

57. I never liked the ROSIE O'DONNELL SHOW, but I like Rosie I think she is very funny and has GREAT TIMING, I was afraid that Rosie is too big of a star for a format like THE VIEW. I liked Meredith, and the way she did "HOT TOPICS" Meredith is a jounralist and I miss her, she was THE VIEW to me, but I am interested in seeing Rosie and Elisabeth debate on policial issues, I am gay and liberial, and I find some of the things that Elisabeth says to be very offensive, but its her opinion, and I hope they find a fairly conservative minority woman to join THE VIEW, so Elisabeth isnt ganged-up-on by Joy & Rosie, I think by having another conservative woman, it will make a more interesting conversation.

58. Boy swapping is fabulous!

59. MARK...u should not be watching the view anyway dude. U are a dude, dude. And funny you should call her a loud mouth bitch, when you are crude enough to be talking about your cat taking a crap in the yard. Disgusting. Go back to school.

60. I thought Rosie was GREAT. I watched the first two shows and taped the rest of the week. I really enjoyed watching them this weekend.

The only problem I had, was Elizabeth. she thinks she has to jump in all the time and then she says stupid comments and she has no idea what she is talking about half the time. (and who is she anyway) She is on a fashion show and dresses other women and her cloths this week were TERRIBLE LOOKING.

Joy needs to jump in more, like she use too.......................................

I THINK ELIZABETH SHOULD GO
