Lets Get This Party Started
Rosie Scores Big in "View" Debut

For all the hype and the uncertainty about what might happen on "The View" once Rosie O'Donnell arrived, one thing's for sure: A lot more people are watching, at least according to the ratings for Rosie's first day.

Rosie's debut on Tuesday attracted 4 million viewers nationwide, which was a 54 percent jump from the same day a year ago, when the show attracted 2.7 million viewers, reports the New York Post. What's more, the show also increased its numbers among its sweet-spot audience, women 18-49 years old.

Of course, it's been a good week for debuting talk and news programs. Katie Couric's first night as the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" drew a huge 9.1 rating, more than doubling the rating from the year before. And "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" opened its fourth season on Monday with a record 3.3 rating, which was nearly 30 percent better than its season premiere from 2005.

Reality Princesses Engage in Boy-Swapping

Just as things appear to be heating up between Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner, it seems that Jenner's ex-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari and Richie's ex-fiance Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein might be getting together as well. Two separate sources today report that the pair, in New York for a Guess anniversary party and other events, hung out together at celeb-boite Bungalow 8. Lloyd Grove says they were there until 4 a.m. "cuddling" while Page Six says Cavallari "chatted up" Goldstein until 3. Still, they did arrive at Capitale for the Guess gala together, though AM's rep insists that the two are "just friends."

Lionel Worried That Nicole Will Become Next Princess Di

Meanwhile, pop legend Lionel Richie says that he took his daughter Nicole to a doctor because he was worried about her dramatic weight loss, and that the doctor assured him that she isn't afflicted with anorexia, despite the pictorial evidence. "I stood in front of [the doctor], just like you and I now, looked him in the eyes, and I said 'Is it anorexia?'" says Richie, in the Swedish newspaper Expressen (via MSNBC). "And he said, 'It isn't anorexia.'"

Lionel attributes Nicole's weight issues to stress, and says that he lives "with the constant fear that Nicole is going to become the next Princess Diana" because she is followed so relentlessly by the paparazzi. "I always know when Nicole is on her way home because she is always followed by a helicopter and seven cars. It's harassment," says Richie.

Four More Years For Letterman

David Letterman will be coming to your late-night TV screen for at least four more years. According to sources cited by the Hollywood Reporter, Letterman is "close to finalizing" a contract extension with CBS that will keep him as the host of "The Late Show with David Letterman" through the 2009-2010. There was never any doubt that the deal with be made, says the sources, and it will keep Dave on the air one year longer than Jay Leno, who is slated to finish his tenure on "The Tonight Show" sometime in 2009.

This round of negotiations stands in stark contrast to the last time the two sides had to make a deal over four years ago, when Letterman felt underappreciated by CBS and nearly jumped ship to ABC.

Party Favors: Aiken Named To Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Spielberg and Lloyd Webber Get Kennedy Nods, Paris' Grandma Was Reportedly A Mob Moll

According to the White House, former "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken has been named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. The committee was originally formed in 1961 by President Kennedy as the President's Panel on Mental Retardation. Aiken has worked as a YMCA counselor ... Andrew Lloyd Webber, Steven Spielberg, Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson, and conductor Zubin Mehta have been anointed this year's Kennedy Center honorees ... Paris Hilton's grandmother, according to a new book about the Hilton family, was married to a notorious gangland figure when her daughter Kathy – Paris' mom – fell in love with her dad, says Page Six. The underworld figure isn't named, but Paris has talked about her grandmother being "her best friend."

76. Rosie's picked the wrong venue. The show's balance has been lost and will fall off the left side of the screen.

77. The reason why I tuned in on Rosie's first day was curiosity, as I am sure a lot of other people were too. After all the Star Jones talk, I wanted to see what Rosie O'Donnel, with her very big mouth, was going to say about Star. After the first day, I did not tune in again, and have no desire nor intention to do so in the future. Rosie O'Donnel lacks class and finese.

78. I love Rosie, but I never have liked the format for The View. Four women talking gives me brain damage and makes me wish I were on ADD medication........But I'm watching now because I love Rosie...........Rosie is "Miss Personality, " so compared to the low key other three, her rapid fire comments do tend to give the impression that she is hogging the conversation............As a courtesy to her co-hosts and out of respect for Ms. Barbara, she will need to consciously remain quiet.

80. I always enjoyed The View, but now since Rosie is part of the ladies, she really spiced up the show. I now have it programed on my season pass manager on my TiVo so it will record all the times. My one wish would be to be able to be at The View during a taping, but it is not easy for me to go to certain affairs. I am disabilied on oxygen in a wheelchair and I am only 47 years old. My dad has cancer and is the only driver, as my mom had a stroke years ago. If I had one wish it would be for a transportation limo to take my parents and myself to see in person the show. I just love the show and I definately feel Rosie is a plus to the show. Thank you.

81. Rosie is way too loud and obnoxious for The View. Those ladies, even though funny and real, are much more refined than Rosie will ever be. She took over the conversations, she won't know how to sit back and shut her trap, she will try to monopolize every topic and conversation. Good luck Joy, Barbara and Elizabeth in getting a word in edgewize!!

82. I never liked Rosie. I will not watch The View and why doesn't Barbara Walters retire? It is time.

83. I think Elizabeth Hasselback is such a nice girl. I hope Rosie does not get the best of her. I also hope Barbara Walters will let Elizabeth speak her views and not upset her like she did on the last season's view. Thank God Star Jones did not leave with Barbara acting like she took off on her. Thanks Star, You will do well where ever you go. The truth will set you free.

84. Rosie is great..Elisabeth Hasselback should go work for Jerry Falwell or some other right wing conservatives..I think it will be fun to watch Rosie interact with Elisabeth....

85. I used to like the view, and watched it all the time......they lost me (and I suspect many others) as a viewer when they added Rosie.....she's obnoxious.

86. What makes you think the ratings will drop? Do you think only straight people watch the view?? Maybe the ratings will soar and more gay people will watch. It'sElisabeth they should get rid of. Does she always have a stick up her butt.

87. Am I the only one in the world that could NEVER stand Rosie O"Donnell? I cannot, for the life of me, understand how she became so popular. She never smiles, and is absolutely dead. I could not believe that she was picked for "The View." I Have always been in wonder as to what anyone sees in her when there is so much wonderful talent out there that goes untoticed.

88. I just love The View now especially since Rosie joined. I have the show programed on my season manager on my TiVo so I will not miss a show. My one wish would to be able to be at The View during taping, but my dad is the only driver and he has cancer, my mom had a stroke and I am in a wheelchair on oxygen and only 47 years old. My one wish would be if a limo could pick up my parents and myself, but financially I just cannot afford it, and I live in NJ not so far. Keep up the good work all four of you ladies and I will keep watching and laughing as the hour goes by very quickly and it distracts me from my problems. Thank you for the great work all of you do everyday.,

89. Why is it that the American people are so damn ignorant? We have enough in this world to be worrying about. Why is it that the American people judge and critized and ridule one another with harsh words? Try to understand to be ignorant is one thing but to be bias is another. We treat all people the same not to mistreat them in vain and not to be insulting. Christ sakes we have enough into this world to worry about not all this hatred who is trying to be more dominent over the other persons. Its simply does not make sense at all that is why we are in a constant war between man and other countries. Why is that you all against gays, race and religion? What are you so scared of? Why is it that you have to put down people who has done good for this country by sticking thier own damn necks out to fight the government for us huh? Rosie has done a lot for the American people and it really sickens me to the least you all sit there and bash her! For what reasons? Simply your behind is not there getting the attention? I have seen so much of how the American people "White"., that is the stir of the leave pile. You have no respect not for them and to your own self. I am thinking more deeply now that when it comes to "Expression of Speech and the Freedom you all have and everyone of you all has taken this for granted and be to bias and slam one another is beyond me. Yes, some of the rich people are down right mean in all and do not care only thier money talks for them selves and not remembering how they got here to be rich. But there is some out there like Rosie her self has accomplished so much more and given you so much and you all take that and abused it! Remember one thing its own your baggage here that you are suffering and that is your personal problem that you have to deal with in the long run! That is my input on this for today! :) Mary

90. During an illness which has left me unable to work, I have became a fan of the View. The addition of Rosie to the show has left me with a spare hour every morning as I will NOT be watching the show any longer. She makes me absolutely want to throw up! And I could care less about hearing anything about her gay lifestyle. Take it back to the closet, ROSIE!
