Lets Get This Party Started
Rosie Scores Big in "View" Debut

For all the hype and the uncertainty about what might happen on "The View" once Rosie O'Donnell arrived, one thing's for sure: A lot more people are watching, at least according to the ratings for Rosie's first day.

Rosie's debut on Tuesday attracted 4 million viewers nationwide, which was a 54 percent jump from the same day a year ago, when the show attracted 2.7 million viewers, reports the New York Post. What's more, the show also increased its numbers among its sweet-spot audience, women 18-49 years old.

Of course, it's been a good week for debuting talk and news programs. Katie Couric's first night as the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" drew a huge 9.1 rating, more than doubling the rating from the year before. And "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" opened its fourth season on Monday with a record 3.3 rating, which was nearly 30 percent better than its season premiere from 2005.

Reality Princesses Engage in Boy-Swapping

Just as things appear to be heating up between Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner, it seems that Jenner's ex-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari and Richie's ex-fiance Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein might be getting together as well. Two separate sources today report that the pair, in New York for a Guess anniversary party and other events, hung out together at celeb-boite Bungalow 8. Lloyd Grove says they were there until 4 a.m. "cuddling" while Page Six says Cavallari "chatted up" Goldstein until 3. Still, they did arrive at Capitale for the Guess gala together, though AM's rep insists that the two are "just friends."

Lionel Worried That Nicole Will Become Next Princess Di

Meanwhile, pop legend Lionel Richie says that he took his daughter Nicole to a doctor because he was worried about her dramatic weight loss, and that the doctor assured him that she isn't afflicted with anorexia, despite the pictorial evidence. "I stood in front of [the doctor], just like you and I now, looked him in the eyes, and I said 'Is it anorexia?'" says Richie, in the Swedish newspaper Expressen (via MSNBC). "And he said, 'It isn't anorexia.'"

Lionel attributes Nicole's weight issues to stress, and says that he lives "with the constant fear that Nicole is going to become the next Princess Diana" because she is followed so relentlessly by the paparazzi. "I always know when Nicole is on her way home because she is always followed by a helicopter and seven cars. It's harassment," says Richie.

Four More Years For Letterman

David Letterman will be coming to your late-night TV screen for at least four more years. According to sources cited by the Hollywood Reporter, Letterman is "close to finalizing" a contract extension with CBS that will keep him as the host of "The Late Show with David Letterman" through the 2009-2010. There was never any doubt that the deal with be made, says the sources, and it will keep Dave on the air one year longer than Jay Leno, who is slated to finish his tenure on "The Tonight Show" sometime in 2009.

This round of negotiations stands in stark contrast to the last time the two sides had to make a deal over four years ago, when Letterman felt underappreciated by CBS and nearly jumped ship to ABC.

Party Favors: Aiken Named To Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Spielberg and Lloyd Webber Get Kennedy Nods, Paris' Grandma Was Reportedly A Mob Moll

According to the White House, former "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken has been named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. The committee was originally formed in 1961 by President Kennedy as the President's Panel on Mental Retardation. Aiken has worked as a YMCA counselor ... Andrew Lloyd Webber, Steven Spielberg, Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson, and conductor Zubin Mehta have been anointed this year's Kennedy Center honorees ... Paris Hilton's grandmother, according to a new book about the Hilton family, was married to a notorious gangland figure when her daughter Kathy – Paris' mom – fell in love with her dad, says Page Six. The underworld figure isn't named, but Paris has talked about her grandmother being "her best friend."

91. I have always enjoyed the view but with rosie it is 100 percent better. She will speak her mind and be a pain in the butt to the christian right neocons.

92. I was very saddened to see the way Star Jones was treated when she was fired. She and Elizabeth are the only ones with a shred of decency or morality. They are the only ones who could present the VIEWS of many God fearing American women. Joy gives me the creeps and Rosie should just go off and live happily ever after in New Jersey. I REALLY don't want to hear about Barbara's sex life or any of the others for that matter. Joy, Barbara, and Rosie will only present one VIEW, that of Democratic Liberals. The DNC should pay to their salaries!

93. I had quit watching The View because I was so sick of elizabeth. She acts like she's about 3 years, with the crying and complaining about anything that goes thru her head. Rosie is a breathe of fresh air. I love Joy and now she has someone to spar with. They are just great. I don't think Barbara needs to babysit Rosie - El;izabeth yes, but not Rosie. It will be their loss if Rosie only stays one year. Al Roker's wife would be great replacing Starr, as would Vanessa Williams or Brandy, if you want a younger representive. Rosie is a great role model for everyone. She's very generous, intelligent, and works hard for the things she believes in. She is raising a wonderful family and is willing to stop and speak to everyone. She's not sallow (thinking everyone has value only if they are thin) and she is not two-faced (she states her beliefs very publicely) and is willing to apoligize if she thinks she has hurt anyone untentionally. Would that everyone in this country could understand that we do not all think alike, we do not all worship alike, we do not all aqree on everything; but Thank God, we all have a right to our own beliefs, including Rosie!

95. I have watched The View for years. What I have always enjoyed is the interaction of 4 or 5 women of different ages and personalities. Now that Rosie O'Donnell is there, her loud voice and "take charge" personality totally overwhelm the show and drown out the other co-hosts. Rosie might just as well be at that table all alone. Unless things get better very quickly, I will be joining the ranks of ex-Viewers.

96. #76 Cheryl, I have noticed this years ago too. ROSIE O'DONNELL CANNOT SMILE. She holds her mouth wide open & people mistake that for a smile. Always mistrust someone who cannot smile.

No, I will not be watching The View anymore. No "Hot Topics". Only "Hot Parker Topics" from now on. Other people's children are boring. Sorry, but it is painfully true. No, Rosie does not have talent. It is a sad comment on today's society that people mistake obnoxiousness for talent.

The View started out with 4 women (plus the occasional Barbara) that 3 of them had a semi famous background with one newcomer. The addition of a superstar into the mix will never work. They needed someone with the same level of fame that the others have. The Fame Meter is off balance.

97. Rosie is brash and rude. I know these ladies all talk at the same time but who can be heard over Rosie's squall. This is Barbara Walters show but it is evident that Rosie thinks it is hers. I do like Rosie but think that she should remember whose show THE VIEW really is.
Todays show, or at least the part that I got to watch, was very good. Each of the four ladies talked about where they were and their feelings about 9/11. Good show. Congratulations to all!

98. Never cared for The View, I have watched may twenty minutes in all of the years it has been on, and there is very little that will get me to watch The View, except Regis and Kelly making a guest appearance.

99. the view, that is the name of the show and for good reason.it is to express one's views, good or bad and there seems to lots of that.that's a good thing.people are obviously watching and expressing how they really feel about this show and all it's antics.i think the girls are playing nice for the moment,so we'll see how it goes.we should remember that this is all new again and bugs need to be worked out as with all things.lets not be too judgemental just yet.lets keep tuning in to see how it all plays out.we as a listening audience have a lot of power and we will exercise it if we have to.i say live and let live and wish them the best.after all it is just a show and we don't have to live our lives based on what happens with it.

100. The View is turning into Rosie's View. She is loud, brass, crude, overbearing, and tries to hog the show. I am so tired of hearing about what Parker did every day. Doesn't she realize that most people are not interested in a daily update on her kids. And there is no need of her cramming her gay agenda down our throats every day. Don't want to hear it. Her comments about Christians crossed way over the line. If someone said something like that about gays, Rosie would be up in arms. Such a hypocrite. Barbara seems to be paralyzed everytime Rosie speaks as if she is afraid to disagree with her. Needs to stay home. Star had class, was educated and said things that made sense and not bullcrap nonsense that we are subjected to every day. Not like the original group. I won't be watching much anymore. Too boring. Someone, throw this sinking ship a lifeline. On second thought, let it sink.

101. I watched the Rosie show and the View show for many years. I am glad Rosie is on the show, but I sense hostility between Rosie and Joy (I love them Both). Elizabeth is great too, but she is no longer in middle school and needs to stop that innocent and naive act. I wish them all the best.

102. I have no idea what URL means, i'm new at this computer thing. Anywy, "The View" is my favorite program and I have been watching it from the begining.I really miss Star and Meredith so much but I do like Rosie.I do think she can be brash at times and shove her gaydome at you but what the hell, that's okay, it brings another side to the program. Is there going to be a replacement for Star? and how long will it take? Hang in there all of you I want you guys to win an EMMY!!!!!!

104. Rosie brings The View to life. She is bright and has a great sense of humor. Go Rosie.

105. I think that rosie definately makes the show. She makes me laugh and always has. She has a great personality and is very down to earth. She tells it like it is. If people don't like it then they shouldn't watch. She makes my day.
