Lets Get This Party Started
Tom, Katie, Rosie in Attack Mode

If you think that the slew of recent public appearances by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are just a coincidence, think again: Sources tell TMZ that this week is just the beginning of a carefully crafted, all-out image-remaking offensive that the couple has launched, culminating in a long-delayed wedding. But powerful Hollywood bigwigs tell TMZ it's not going to work with them.

The TomKat PR machine has been in fullest attack mode all week, and the latest charge came when Katie and Tom did lunch with the mothers TomKat for the second time this week at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The supposedly feuding families looked notably chummy and happy for the photographers. And in just one week, the couple have managed to use the top-rated newscast and late-night show as well as the most visible hotel and restaurant in Hollywood to attempt a complete image overhaul, not to mention a 22-page spread in Vanity Fair.

But TMZ is told that Cruise has mouthed off to various Hollywood bigwigs at various venues, including dinners at restaurants, about the evils of certain drugs, knowing that family members of these bigwigs are taking them. They are outraged, and don't believe the new, softer side of Tom for a minute.

ROSIE BLENDS LIKE SAND

Just one week after its return to air, there are real problems on "The View," and the situation is already so bad that the real question is: Will Rosie O'Donnell last through even one season?

Sources tell TMZ that Rosie has not been received kindly by her co-hosts, and that Elisabeth Hasselbeck in particular has been openly hostile to her. What's more, O'Donnell – famously dubbed the "Queen of Nice" in her first talk-show-host incarnation – has had significant issues with the production of the show and with the schedule. In fact, on her very first day, after the entire studio audience was given a two-day cruise, O'Donnell complained on-air about that confetti didn't drop on cue from the ceiling to shower the audience, that the promo was an unusually long one, and that a two-day cruise seemed somewhat skimpy, whether or not it was a giveaway.

Rosie's rep Cindi Berger told TMZ, "None of that is true. Everyone gets along great. Elisabeth is planning to go up to Rosie's house with her baby Grace." Rosie, as she promised Barbara Walters, has not been blogging about the show on rosie.com. A publicist for "The View" did not respond to a request for comment.

THE HOFF SOUNDS OFF

He doesn't hold back, does Mr. Hasselhoff. In an interview with People magazine this week, David Hasselhoff admits to using Botox, but says he's going to wait a while until he gets more, adds that Princess Diana was "smitten" with him, and knows what he wants his gravestone to read.

The ex-"Baywatch"-er admits to having a little work done on his 54-year-old face: "I have had Botox, everyone has. It's a shot. It takes out the frown." And he suggests that a certain Hollywood legend has, too: "I like Clint Eastwood, he waited until he was 75. He looks damn good." As for Diana, it seems that the Hoff's mile-high height created "sparks" when they met: "She was smitten with me since I am so tall. I was smitten with her since she was so tall." Right.

When all's said and done, however, Hasselhoff will have a curious message for everyone to read at his gravesite: "Hoff and Running." And that's that.

HEATHER'S FIRST HUBBY: "WE HAVE BOTH BEEN HEATHERED"

Heather Mills -- currently in divorce proceedings with her estranged husband, Paul McCartney -- isn't getting much in the way of support from her first husband, Alfie Kamal. In fact, he's sympathizing with Sir Paul. "We have both been Heathered," says Kamal to the London Evening Standard, via Page Six. "If she took out of the marriage what she put in, she would walk out with minus a million bucks." Kamal was married to Mills in the late '80s. Employing a somewhat unfortunate simile in reference to Mills, who has one prosthetic leg, Kamal says, "She ran off lots of times. It was a bit like the Runaway Bride. I used to think she had a permanent pair of sneakers on under her shoes."

Meanwhile, The Donald -- who knows from divorce settlements -- says on his Trump University blog: "I know I sound like a broken record but ... get a prenup. Don't believe me? Ask Paul McCartney what he thinks. I know he wishes he had one." Mills could reportedly get as much as $400 million of Sir Paul's fortune in the divorce.

PARTY FAVORS: AFFLECK, MIRREN WIN TOP PRIZES IN VENICE, PIRATES PASSES $1 BILLION WORLDWIDE

Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren won the top acting prizes at the Venice Film Festival for their roles in "Hollywoodland" and "The Queen," respectively. The former was a surprise to critics and observers, though Mirren was widely praised for her work. The top prize -- The Golden Lion -- went to a Chinese film, "Still Life," that few critics had even seen ... "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" became the third film ever to pass $1 billion at the worldwide box office, said Disney, trailing only "Titanic" and "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King." It has collected $1.003 billion in ticket sales as of Friday.

46. Rosie has always been too full of herself. She is such a loud mouth. I will never watch the View as long as she is on it. Whenever she is on TV for any reason...my clicker goes "click".

47. Rosie will do fine on The View. She has a huge following that will increase their ratings.

Barbara and Joy are equally opinionated, smart and witty and Rosie can keep up with them quite well. It's the Hasselbeck girl with her narrow mind and outdated opinions who needs to be replaced.

It's funny, but the older gals have kept up with the times, while the Hasselbeck girl still thinks it's the 50s.

48. Who cares if Brad and Angelina ever get married? Apparently Brad has no intention of marrying her anyway because what he is asking will never come about in our generation and he must know this. I feel for Maddox and the new baby they adopted because Brad will NOT be there for the long haul.

49. Isn't it funny that Tom's religion frowns upon medications however doesn't encourage marriage? I think not....Bet he chooses only the "rules" of his religion that is in his comfort zone and if it is not self gratifying those rules get swept under the rug.

50. TMZ, how low can youn go? Talk about beating a dead horse, you're just looking to beat Tom in the ground arent you?

Anyone can make up a crappy story like this and just put sources at the end? All you did was see that VF photos, know that Tom and Katie had lunch with their parents and the iminent wedding to make up this farce! Let it go, Tom publicist said that he hasnt changed his views, WE ALL KNOW THIS! He apologized to Brooke because he was sorry about dragging her into it and Brooke accepted. I guess you're just looking for another face time on showbiz tonight!

How about naking your sources for onces, for somethign as serious as this where it could further damage Cruise, NAME YOUR SOURCES!!

51. Harvey is just a frustrated, bitter little biootch. This is all he has to show for his life...putting others down when they're human beings who just happen to be famous? I may not care for the antics of most celebrities but, still, there are more important issues in the world like crime, starving people, world wars, missing and murdered children, and this is where Harvey puts his energy? What a loser.

52. Hey! Why not talk about the important things in life? It's college football season!! Who cares about these over-rated, over-paid, under-educated, ego-maniacs anyway? Let's start arguing about why college football does not have a legitimate playoff system to determine who ranks in the #1 position at the end of the season!

53. I think all of this will be the demise of Barbara Walters, who I think is a decent person but for some reason is allowing herself to sprial out of control - her comments about Mel Gibson, Star Jones episode and hiring Rosie. I no longer watch The View and don't plan to anytime soon. To many options on TV during that time and of course, a life outside of TV.

54. I don't really watch the view but I think Rosie was a bad choice. She is too outspoken and crass. I think she will distract attention from the others as they are ladies and she is not. I honestly did not know she had a foul mouth and anyone that does should not get national attention.

55.
I think Rosie is a shot in the arm for "The View". Give the girls some time and they will mesh together as well as can be expected. Elizabeth is the one who will be gone next. If you watched the show where Rosie was talking about getting along with them all, Barbara said something about you will have conflict with Elizabeth as everyone else has. I agree with Barbara Walters again when she said the energy has stepped up a notch. To me the best part of the show is the opening segment with the hot topics. I think in due time, the show will be as good if not better than in the past.

56. Rosie doesn't compliment the women on The View. I love Rosie but, she is a one lady show. I did not enjoy watching The View with the women seemingly trying to talk over Rosie. I really enjoyed Star Jones and I miss seeing her on the show. Best wishes to Rosie and good luck to The View finding a better fit of a co-host.

57. I stopped watching the View after 3 days of Rosie. It seemed as though she was trying to take over the show and make it her own. It did seem that Elizabeth was uncomfortable with her, altho it may not have anything to do with her sexual orientation. I find Rosie abrasive, nasty and phony when she tries to be so sweet, and I would feel the same no matter her sexual preference. I don't think Barbara is comfortable with her either. I like Joy and think she can handle Rosie but may not want to. They should have tried Kathy Lee Gifford, more of a Meredith type altho possibly too much like Elizabeth. They should keep looking, Rosie isn't a team type.

58. who gives a "rap"? Rosie is over the hill and overbearing. Tom Cruise is no better.

59. Hate the View now that Rosie has joined it,she talks too loud ,she doesn't
let people finish or start a conversation, she has taken over the whole show with her big mouth.

60. The View has become The Rosie Show. Rosie is too over-bearing, dominating, loud and opiniated. She contstantly interrups, doesn't let the others finish what they're saying and talks loud so that you can't hear that they're saying. She doesn't listen to anyone. Rosie and Barbara may be friends but it was a big mistake to add her to the show.
