Lets Get This Party Started
Croc Hunter Gets No Tears From PETA

Steve Irwin mugs for the cameras.Fans the world over have been mourning the tragic death of Steve Irwin, but not, evidently, the animal lovers at PETA.

This morning, the animal lovers group's Dan Mathews says that it's "no shock at all" that Irwin died the way he did, and he's also branded Irwin a "cheap reality TV star."

Irwin died last week after being impaled by a stingray while filming a TV documentary, and was buried Saturday in a private ceremony on Saturday at the Australia Zoo, the animal park where he and his family tended lovingly to hundreds of creatures. But despite his reputation as a naturalist and conservationist, the Crocodile Hunter's on-screen antics clearly irked the animal lovers at PETA, according to MSNBC's Jeannette Walls.

"He made a career out of antagonizing frightened wild animals," says PETA's Mathews, "which is a very dangerous message to send to kids." And Mathews sniffs that Irwin's career wasn't particularly impressive – at least not to him: "If you compare him with a responsible conservationist like Jacques Cousteau, he looks like a cheap reality TV star."

Paris Pulls a Lohan on "Bottoms"

The Hollywood nightlife continues to take its toll on starlets and their punctuality. Simona Fusco, one of the co-star's of Paris Hilton's latest film, the straight-to-DVD "Bottoms Up," which arrives tomorrow, tells Page Six that Paris was "always late on the set... By the time Paris finally showed up, she was usually coming from a party ... Not only does she show up late, but on top of it she didn't have her lines ready to go." But what of Paris' actual acting chops, Simona? "I don't think there's any talent there."

"Apprentice" Sideshow: George Slams Carolyn

George Ross, the man who sits to the right in the boardroom on "The Apprentice," has no sympathy for Carolyn Kepcher, who used to be on Trump's left, and who recently got the axe from Trump himself. "Do I think her becoming a major national star went to her head? Was she affected by it? Yes," said Ross recently on "Good Morning America."

Meanwhile, as Lloyd Grove points out this morning, the 78-year-old Ross has been out hyping his own book called "Trump-Style Negotiation," and has been leaving the office to do paid speaking engagements. But a Ross assistant insists that George has his eye on the Trump-serving ball, and that he's "an ace at what he does."

Kepcher, for her part, reacted to Ross' comments this way on MSBNC: "I'm shocked. I find it very ironic, to say the least. But again, good for George."

Fergie's Battle With Meth

Calling crystal meth "the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," the Black Eyed Peas' female singer Fergie (real name Stacey Ferguson) details her drug struggles in an interview with Time. "It's the drug that's addicting. But it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting," says Fergie, who's recent solo efforts have climbed up the charts. "A lot of it was being a child actor: I learned to suppress feelings." Fergie adds that she has talked to the other famous Fergie – the Duchess of York – about doing "some charity work together."

Party Favors: Kristin Cavallari Sips Fem-Bot Fatale! ... Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes Spotted Canoodling! ... "The Covenant" Wins Tepid Weekend B.O.

Kristin Cavallari, who's been quite happily photographed at just about every Fashion Week event she can scamper into, shrieked when a lensman caught her downing something called a "Svedka Fem-Bot Fatale" at an after-party. "You can't take a picture of me drinking!" protested the 19-year-old Kristin, according to Rush & Molloy. Of course, it didn't stop her from indulging ... Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes were at it furiously at a Wyclef Jean party in New York Thursday night. Though reps have denied the pair are an item, an R&M spy saw the couple "holding hands under the table and kissing all night long." ... Renny Harlin's supernatural thriller "The Covenant" took the top spot at the weekend box office with a relatively light $9 million take, with the Ben Affleck noir "Hollywoodland" coming in second, with $6 million.

80. A 20-year-old resident of California died suddenly while visiting his celebrity mother in the Maternity Ward of Doctors Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas.

Daniel Smith was found dead on the hospital’s premises sometime after 9 a.m. Sunday. While an autopsy will determine the exact cause if death, the son of model and actress, 38-year-old Anna Nicole Smith reportedly suffered a massive heart attack.

Anna Nicole, star of reality show, was in hospital after giving birth in The Bahamas to a healthy baby girl.

The police at first called the death “suspicious” and promised that an investigation would be carried out

81. I wish it had been Paris Hilton who got stung in the heart and not me. As much as i might look like a bloke on TV, I as actually a caring family man who was down to earth and wanted to give something to the world unlike Paris who is just interested in herself and ridiculing others.

82. PETA is against the treatment and abuse of animals, something clearly Steve Irwin, was not about, I'm sure the idea that he would [live by the sword] die by the sword, was in hindsight always ,as he did appear to be a man of intelligence. He took that risk, TRUE

Matthews on the other hand, referring to him as REALITY TV, maybe so....enjoyed by millions, Isn't MTV unplugged a form of Reality TV?
How else would you depict wildlife in a show i.e.. National Geographic? Are they next...

PETA has gone too far, Go to Canada, and stop the slaughter of baby seals, Current Rolling Stone Issue re: the boycotting of seafood from Canada...there's a place you and Dave can address some real issues!
Tell me about an animal that has abused, or died because of Steve? Change my mind....I don't think you can!
Shame on you where were your comments before he met his maker?

83. I hope the backlash PETA experiences is overwhelming and extremely painful to their pocketbook. Jerkoffs. Animal protection is a great idea but PETA goes over the top and comes off looking like a bunch of nutcases 9.9 times out of 10. They remind me of the whackos that stand outside of abortion clinics "in the name of life" and then pull out a weapon to kill the doctors and nurses that work there. Crazy people. Go to hell PETA. I hope Irwin's poor wife doesn't let this kind of toxic drool from the mouth bother her.

85. No one in their right mind can disagree with this statement. It's not an attack on the "man" himself but against his tactics. Sorry, we all loved Steve but no one was shocked that he was killed by one of the creatures he was filming. We're just surprised it wasn't a deadly snake or a crocodile. If you say differently I’d have to question your ability for rationale thinking.

True Statement:
>> "If you compare him with a responsible conservationist like Jacques Cousteau, he looks like a cheap reality TV star."

Again I like Steve bunches, but this was expected.

86. The world has gone mad! People need to get back to the basics. Steve Irwin, only helped the world respect animals, and had fun doing it. He deserves respect in his next life. I hope PETA doesn't miss any donations over this. Their message to the public doesn't deserve any respect, or donations. Hopefully people will remember the comment when deciding who they support.

Life is short, and Steve enjoyed every minute of it. PETA it not the one that needs to judge. Hope they enjoy their life as fully as Steve did. Hope his children grow up with the same attitude he had. The world has lost a wonderful person, and I think his fans know that, no matter what PETA has to say about it.

87. PETA people - eat more veggies. Apparently you're low on fiber.

88. Screw PETA!! What have they done to conserve nature or preserve wildlife? Most PETA members are ill informed youths led by some very rigid intolerant militant radicals who often use terrorist tactics to further their agenda. They have no call to insult the memory of Steve Irwin just because he used entertainment to inform and enlighten the public about the beauty and value of animals that are typically loathed due to ignorance and fear. PETA uses celebrities and rock musicians to entice impressionable youngsters to swallow whole their militant misanthropic world view. I am totally against cruelty towards all living beings but any fanatical ideology is dangerous and counterproductive to effect positive change. Get a sense of humor and quit taking yourselves so damn serious PETA.

90. For all those that support PETA perhaps you should queue on your netflix a show called Penn and Teller's Bullsh*t. The episode about PETA on the season two disc really opened up my eyes!
