Lets Get This Party Started
Croc Hunter Gets No Tears From PETA

Steve Irwin mugs for the cameras.Fans the world over have been mourning the tragic death of Steve Irwin, but not, evidently, the animal lovers at PETA.

This morning, the animal lovers group's Dan Mathews says that it's "no shock at all" that Irwin died the way he did, and he's also branded Irwin a "cheap reality TV star."

Irwin died last week after being impaled by a stingray while filming a TV documentary, and was buried Saturday in a private ceremony on Saturday at the Australia Zoo, the animal park where he and his family tended lovingly to hundreds of creatures. But despite his reputation as a naturalist and conservationist, the Crocodile Hunter's on-screen antics clearly irked the animal lovers at PETA, according to MSNBC's Jeannette Walls.

"He made a career out of antagonizing frightened wild animals," says PETA's Mathews, "which is a very dangerous message to send to kids." And Mathews sniffs that Irwin's career wasn't particularly impressive – at least not to him: "If you compare him with a responsible conservationist like Jacques Cousteau, he looks like a cheap reality TV star."

Paris Pulls a Lohan on "Bottoms"

The Hollywood nightlife continues to take its toll on starlets and their punctuality. Simona Fusco, one of the co-star's of Paris Hilton's latest film, the straight-to-DVD "Bottoms Up," which arrives tomorrow, tells Page Six that Paris was "always late on the set... By the time Paris finally showed up, she was usually coming from a party ... Not only does she show up late, but on top of it she didn't have her lines ready to go." But what of Paris' actual acting chops, Simona? "I don't think there's any talent there."

"Apprentice" Sideshow: George Slams Carolyn

George Ross, the man who sits to the right in the boardroom on "The Apprentice," has no sympathy for Carolyn Kepcher, who used to be on Trump's left, and who recently got the axe from Trump himself. "Do I think her becoming a major national star went to her head? Was she affected by it? Yes," said Ross recently on "Good Morning America."

Meanwhile, as Lloyd Grove points out this morning, the 78-year-old Ross has been out hyping his own book called "Trump-Style Negotiation," and has been leaving the office to do paid speaking engagements. But a Ross assistant insists that George has his eye on the Trump-serving ball, and that he's "an ace at what he does."

Kepcher, for her part, reacted to Ross' comments this way on MSBNC: "I'm shocked. I find it very ironic, to say the least. But again, good for George."

Fergie's Battle With Meth

Calling crystal meth "the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," the Black Eyed Peas' female singer Fergie (real name Stacey Ferguson) details her drug struggles in an interview with Time. "It's the drug that's addicting. But it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting," says Fergie, who's recent solo efforts have climbed up the charts. "A lot of it was being a child actor: I learned to suppress feelings." Fergie adds that she has talked to the other famous Fergie – the Duchess of York – about doing "some charity work together."

Party Favors: Kristin Cavallari Sips Fem-Bot Fatale! ... Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes Spotted Canoodling! ... "The Covenant" Wins Tepid Weekend B.O.

Kristin Cavallari, who's been quite happily photographed at just about every Fashion Week event she can scamper into, shrieked when a lensman caught her downing something called a "Svedka Fem-Bot Fatale" at an after-party. "You can't take a picture of me drinking!" protested the 19-year-old Kristin, according to Rush & Molloy. Of course, it didn't stop her from indulging ... Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes were at it furiously at a Wyclef Jean party in New York Thursday night. Though reps have denied the pair are an item, an R&M spy saw the couple "holding hands under the table and kissing all night long." ... Renny Harlin's supernatural thriller "The Covenant" took the top spot at the weekend box office with a relatively light $9 million take, with the Ben Affleck noir "Hollywoodland" coming in second, with $6 million.

91. Do disrespect Zapzip, but when you make negative statements about a dead man it IS an attack. Especially sice he can't defend himself. I agree that I didn't think he would go by a stingray, rather a croc or snake. Your statement that you said was true is merely an opinion. For something to be true, it needs to be a fact.
Maybe they were different, but that doesn't make him a cheap reality show. With the word cheap in that statement it makes it personal and offensive. If he were alive I'm sure he would consider it an attack. I would. If anyone put down the thing I've spent time and money on, I would certainly consider it an attack on me.

92. In response to the "not a big shock that he died posters",
I guess the shock comes from him being such a genuinely nice guy, with an amazing love for animals(dangerous or not), that had an amazing amount of charisma and charm and really seemed to know what he was doing, giving you the feeling that perhaps nothing like this would actually happen him.

I guess you could compare it to someone's family member or friend going into the military, a police officer, a firefighter, just because it's a dangerous line of work, doesn't make it any less shocking or painful when something like this happens. There was nothing shameless or needless about what he did all his life, some people are born for things perhaps you can't wrap your head around. Please however, show some respect for him, he educated and entertained- he IS this generations Jacque Cousteau or Jack Hanna and shouldn't be condemned for doing what he loved. Perhaps you should read about who he was and what he actually before you just generalizing him as a 'just a Reality TV Star'.

93. Thats wrong Steve Irwin is a great guy and he showed great respect for nature and all animals. PETA sucks there are more people in this world doing good for animals than you and you guys can't show them any respect.. i don't see anyone from PETA risking their lives to show the world natures true beauty. Steve lost his life showing the world something most people would never in their wildest dreams be able to see. And he ALWAYS ALWAYS did it with respect for his surroundings and the animals in it. Rest In Peace Steve..and best wishes to the Irwin family.

94. I have to agree with everyone else. Where I come from PETA would be called punks b/c they waited til Steve couldn't defend himself to throw a sucker punch. Yes the news about Anna Nicole's son was very tragic to hear, but look at it this way, whenever God closes a door, He opens a window. So even though her son is gone and can never be replaced, and I know She is grieving, Anna will have to put that aside to raise that cute little girl who will grow up always thinking about her big brother.

95. I think Steve Irwin has done a lot more for animals and conservation than PETA will ever accomplish. Steve never mistreated any animal and would even stop filming if he thought an animal was overly agitated. His work gave more recognition to predatory animals and not the cutesy animals one usually finds on animal shows. PETA will never get one dime from me, but I will donate money in honor of Steve Irwin.

96. If you think PETA is bad for what they said about Steve Irwin. Go to this link and look at what they do to the animals they claim to love so much!!!

97. PETA: What a bunch of low lives. Sub-humans to trash Steve Irwin!! No one in their right minds would support your full of @#%& organization.

99. No, Nathan, PETA does not have a point. And we are talking about animal rights, and not human rights. Peta does not care, they never have, they never will. They only care to pass along their doctrine, of no pet ownership. They want all dogs and cats neutered, they want a limit as to what each household can have, final end - no domesticated animals. Think about it, if we continue to neuter, continue to spay, then there will be no more. They are all ready accomblishing this with exotic pet ownership. They have infiltrated our local governments, making themselves a nuisance, a organization who has become so powerful, that our local governments fear them. As far as they are concerned, you do not have a right to own any animal in your possession, whether it is a goldfish, a hamster, rabbit, dog or a cat.. Soon coming to your area, I can bet they have started with pushing legislation in regards to you only be allowed to own 3 dogs and 2 cats, you must have them licensed, so they can see where you live, and they must be neutered and spayed. They are making their demands, our legislation is believing them, and your right to own what ever animal you chose, or how many you chose, is being taken away. Do you think in this land of Freedom - America, that you have a choice? no, you do not have a choice. They are making your choices for you. Investigate Peta before you support them.

100. PETA is so f-ing retarded. This is why I hate vegans. Not only do they try to shove their beliefs down our throats, but they always say animal lives are worth more than humans. I mean are they thinking about his family?? It's ridiculous. I hope Dan Matthews chokes on a carrot.

101. PETA is nothing but a bunch of blood sucking leaches that take MONEY and say its is to protect animals they are no more the a Political front for money laundering.

Here is a real animal cause to give to www.wildlifeworriors.org.au.

Steve world want it that way.

102. PETA is against the treatment and abuse of animals, something clearly
Steve Irwin, was not about, I'm sure the idea that he would [live by
the sword] die by the sword, was in hindsight always ,as he did
appear to be a man of intelligence. He took that risk,
TRUE

Matthews on the other hand, referring to him as REALITY
TV, maybe so....enjoyed by millions, Isn't MTV unplugged a form of
Reality TV?
How else would you depict wildlife in a show i.e..
National Geographic? Are they next...

PETA has gone too far,
Go to Canada, and stop the slaughter of baby seals, Current Rolling
Stone Issue re: the boycotting of seafood from Canada...there's a
place you and Dave can address some real issues!
Tell me about an animal that died because of him? Change my mind....I
don't think you can!
Shame on you where were your comments before
he met his maker?

103. I'm a meat-eater and no fan of Peta, but they're right about Irwin. He did cheap vaudeville shtick with dangerous wild animals. Wooo! Look at me, wrassling a crock!! He even approached and fed a full-grown live croc while carrying his infant son. This was the act of an idiot and a showoff. His death came when he and his crew boxed in a manta ray and caused it to lash out with its tail. Give him credit for his showmanship, but he was very stupid.

104. Anytime I saw Irwin's act I thought to myself that he would not live a long life. The guy terrorized wildlife.

105. PETA SUCKS! Are children are more important then animals. PETA-Do something to help our children from: drugs, crime and abuse. Our children are the future leaders of this world, not animals. God Bless PETA!
