Did "Family Guy" Go Too Far?

The FOX animated series "Family Guy" is known for pushing the boundaries between good humor and bad taste -- very few topics, if any, are out of bounds for the show. And normally the jokes just bounce right off us, but there was one last night that made even us cringe.

The episode, titled "Stewie Loves Lois," is about Stewie's newfound love for mom, Lois (normally he is trying to kill her). After Stewie becomes a little too clingy, Lois decides to ignore him to try and help him become less dependent. When Stewie's attempts at attracting her attention fail, he cries out, "What is this, a Tommy Lee pool party?"

For those that don't remember, a 4-year-old boy drowned at Tommy Lee's Malibu estate in 2001 during a birthday party for Tommy Lee's son, Brandon. Lee was sued by the boy's parents, but was found not responsible for the accident by a jury. Lee said in a statement at the time, "Although I am relieved that the court has found me not negligent, there are no winners in this sad situation."

31. Harry sez: It a frigging adult cartoon show. If I want high-brow TV fare I can watch PBS.

32. This is not in bad taste it sends a message. Meaning do not let young children especially somenone else's that you invited over to your house out of your site for one second. If they are not old enough to be alone you should keep an eye on them at all times. Hope the message gets across and sometimes it gets noticed more when it is put in a comedy situation.

33. Adult show or not, it's still inappropriate and crude to make that comment on a tv show. Pretty tasteless.

34. Let me get this straight - someone actually pitched this story and got the green light to write this? TMZ, which is known for it's snarky, crude and over the line comments, has the nerve to suggest that Family Guy (where every joke is crude too!) went over the line? Not that I come to this site for politics or news, but please don't bother us with your lame Sunday night viewing commentary. Did Suri Cruise not make an appearance at Hyde? Did Lindsay not go shopping at Fred Segal? There must be more important things to write about than some lame staff writer's opinions...
