Dixie Chicks To Bush: "You're a Dumb F**k"

It's been more than three years since the Dixie Chicks sparked a media firestorm by announcing they were "ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas." Now, the embattled country stars are reigniting the blaze with a highly controversial documentary featuring lead singer Natalie Maines calling President Bush a "dumb f---."

According to Entertainment Weekly, one memorable scene from "Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing" shows the singers watching a news report on President Bush's reaction to their infamous on-stage comment. In the report, Bush says ''the Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind,'' adding, ''they shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out. You know, freedom is a two-way street.'' After watching this footage, Maines then repeats the president's comment and says, ''What a dumb f---.'' She then looks into the camera, as if addressing Bush himself, and reiterates, ''You're a dumb f---.''

The documentary, directed by two-time Academy Award-winning Barbara Kopple, travels with the Chicks, from their peak of popularity as the national anthem-singing darlings of country music and top-selling female recording artists of all time, through the now infamous anti-Bush comment, and on through the days, months and years of mayhem. The film is set to premiere tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival, where for some odd reason (possibly that our neighbors to the north aren't exactly fans of our nation's leader), it's expected to be a huge hit.

63. I can understand why they are angry-- first for what is going on around the world thanks to the Bush administration's miserable handling of just about everything that comes its way (or that it seeks out, unfortunately), but second for the bizarro response to her comments from Americans who seem to forget the whole concept of freedom while they roll around naked in their flags thinking that makes them a patriot. If the Dixie Chicks say they don't like George Bush, who cares? How about all the weird people on the right making comments that are bringing back in full force the era of McCarthyism? To me, that is infinitely more dangerous, and yet this all of this anger is roused towards the Dixie Chicks?! It's ridiculous, and the response is freakish and irrational, like somehow the Dixie Chicks saying they don't like Bush cuts at the very core of your being/ identity. Maybe it does? In one of their songs addressing this very issue they say, "How on earth could something I said/ Send somebody so over the edge/ That they write me a letter, saying that I better/ Shut up and sing or my life will be over." Yes, exactly. I am more shocked by the psychotic reaction to what they said, than by the substance of their comments. And as for the person who talks about this being about respect? Why don't you ask the same thing of our President, who seems to have respect for no human life or culture or religion except for his own and people like him [rewind tape to Katrina response, to the senseless killing of thousands of Iraqi citizens who had nothing to do with 9/11 because in reality he just wanted to get rid of Saddam ("that guy tried to kill my Dad!"), etc.]

64. I'm just happy we live in a country where we can have this discussion..I don't think they're spoiled or unappreciative at all ( I mean, Toby and John Michael are making a killing off of this too), And I do not think they are unpatriotic..They are entitled to their opinions, and the president is entitled to refute them in a public forum..Like the prsident said, freedom is a two way street , and he was right..We all have to learn to appreciate our own differences..I may not approve of how they present themselves in public, or their language, but I gotta say, they have guts..

65. Old news. Yes you hate Bush, we get it......I used to listen to their music, but after all this, I'm done. If you need publicity this bad, find some new path, this is just stupid. If the other 2 Dixie Chicks were smart they get rid of Natalie.

66. Talk about dumb f***s, what's wrong with the rest of the band to allow her to keep putting the President of the United States down. They must be dumb f***s just like Natalie.

Keep your opinions to yourself. The world is the way it is because of people like you who have no respect for our government, like them or not.

67. Dixie Chicks Rule!! I have nothing but the greatest respect for these women who are brave and courageous enough to stand up to the GOP Character Asassination Machine and tell it to stick it right up their A**!! It's quite funny to read the posts of all the goody-ggodies out there who pretend that they're offended...more right-wing hypocrisy. Thank you Dixie Chicks for expressing what half the voting public feels..You are NOT ALONE!!!!

71. RIGHT ON NAT! I've said it in the privacy of my home a million times. Teach your children you don't have to be lied to and herded like cows. It's okay to not agree. And by the way, their video has been #1 on VH1 for 19 or more weeks and there album is in the top sellers this year so.....looks like they've just lost the Rednecks!

74. Wow, I had no idea most readers of TMZ are right-wing, red-state, stay-at-home moms (I hope all my hyphens are in the right place, I don't want to be labeled a dumb liberal by you scholars from Missouri or Kentucky)! You ladies are so naive and cute. I know that being a "good mother" actually comes from teaching your children that disagreeing with your government is one of our fundamental rights as Americans. You can support the troops, be patriotic, and still think our president is a babbling idiot -- attempting to convince you dummies that the war on terror and the war in Iraq are the same thing. True, it's super-neat that he went to Yale. I mean, he came from an obscenely wealthy white family and grew up with just about every advantage a young lad would need (I mean, it would have been wholly surprising for him NOT to have gone to Yale), but still... awesome job, man.

Ok ladies, go back to watching Ellen, whom you love despite the fact that she is a lesbian. What a guilty pleasure for you! Hate the sin, not the sinner! Ooooh, Eva Longoria from Desperate Housewives is the guest today!
