Rosie is the Next Big Thing -- Again!

Everyone, myself included, has been doubting Barbara Walter's brainstorm to hire Rosie O'Donnell to replace Star and/or Meredith on "The View." The arguments against Rosie -- not a team player, difficult to get along with, difficult to get along with, difficult to get along with.

Well doubters be damned -- Rosie seems to be connecting with the audience. The ratings for "The View" are up -- pretty significantly. Rosie has moved to Meredith's chair, which sorta makes her the leader of the pack. And my spies tells me that at least on stage, things are pretty copasetic.

There have been rumblings that Elizabeth doesn't get along with Rosie; that Joy is getting tired of playing second fiddle; that Rosie thinks the production of the show is bush league at times. There may be a little truth in some of this, but it wouldn't be the first time a show succeeded in spite of difficult stars; indeed, Exhibit A is Rosie's wildly successful talk show.

The fact is, Rosie is blending better than I ever expected. Besides, nothing succeeds like success. If the rating continue to climb, I doubt the other gals would try and sabotage her -- Rosie could end up being their annuity.

In my mind, the real test will be the relationship between Rosie and Barbara. These are both very strong, controlling individuals with strong points of view. Neither of them are known for compromise. Yet it's inevitable -- if "The View" is to survive with Rosie, compromise on both sides is essential. On that, the jury is out.

31. I thought I'd give the view a chance again. Rosie has her own agenda and is already being rude. Thank heavens for Elisabeth! Merideth was great. Now it is just a circus. I think the view needs the 3 AM time slot so something good can come on during daytime. I'm not going to waste my time watching it anymore.

32. I was disappointed in the beginning when it was announced that Rosie would be coming to the View. I work full time but when I have a day off, I always l look forward to watching the View--not any more. I was home the first day Rosie was on and was thoroughly turned off by her. She has to be the center of attention and is so loud - it is really a turn off. Also, we all know her lifestyle and, Rosie, just live your lifestyle and keep everything to yourself like most heterosexuals do. I do not want to hear it. We also did not have to hear the comment your adopted daughter made when she was in the shower with you. In a nutshell, I think the View has been doomed and will not last long. I love Joy who is also outspoken but in a softer, more civilized way. Elizabeth I have always liked, even when she was on Survivor. Barbara needs to go back to being a more sophisticated lady and not put on a show to be hip. You have been a highly respected journalist/tv personality and please don't blow it now. Do not let the View become "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." She needs to go -- and quick! JP

33. Glad to see you admit what I've known all along. Rosie Rocks. She had bills to pay and she gave America what they wanted. Then her world falls apart and lashes out at being slammed and suddenly... she's a bitch, she's mean, she's a fraud. Growup America. She is an entertainer. She made us smile while she had her show, she got mad when people sued her... seems pretty freaking normal to me. Have not caught her on the view yet... but by all accounts. She is fabulous. Battle on Rosie.

34. After Tuesday's show I will not be watching the view. Rosie's comments on radical Islam and radical Christianity was unbelievable. I can't believe Barbara just sit there and didn't say anything. That was really showing support for the USA. Great job!!!!! Not
Use to be fan

35. Rosie O' Donnell and Her Hate Speech Sinks The View For Good

"Radical Christianity is as threatening and dangerous as radical Islam", Stated Rosie O'Donnell on ABC's "The View", yesterday (9/11) and is seditious. This is just another reason we need to make a Declaration of War so we can round up people like her, and arrest her for sedition , and sympathizing with the enemy.(definition of Treason)

When the Left Wing liberals rule the media like they do, this is what we get on televsion- a big, fat stereotype Lesbian, insulting Christians. She is a radical homsexual constantly foisting her perverted lifestyle on the viewing audience-Bring Back Star Jones.

The audience "The View" panders to, hast set a new low for television and particularly women Rosie O'Donnell did this on 9/11 to spew her hate speech against America, undermine our troops and the assault of our Christian values iis offensive.

Ask yourself why ABC would choose her as the spokesperson for 9/11, knowing this kind of clap trap would be offensive to most of the American citizens who tuned in...think about it. The media is run by people like her.

36. I was very skeptical about Rosie joining the view but I am extremely pleased with her comments. I think she's doing great and Elizabeth should become educated becfoe she spews opionions that make no sense.

37. The view has always been a bunch of liberal women spewing their hate & lies. Elizabeth is a token, so BW can claim she lets all points of "view" be represented. Rosie is the loudest, crudest liberal of all and was brought on to increase ratings. You have to remember that very few conservatives watch the view (why would they-after a few minutes of liberal BS you'd be throwing things at yout TV). Rosie is big with liberals, so now BW can bring in the liberals who didn't watch her in the past. Unfortunately, for BW - Rosie blew it with her anti-christian campaign!! Even most liberals have some Christian beliefs. Rosie has now offened 90% of the country. She needs to GO immediately!!! ABC, BW, & Rosie all need to issue an apology-immediately. I for one am going to be boycotting all of ABC's shows until one is forth coming, and the View is removed from the air or Rosie is canned!!

Liberals who support this show claim that conservatives have no tolerance when actually the opposite is true. Elizabeth at least lets the others speak before she trys to set them straight. The View would really be the View if women of all ages and beliefs (not all liberals & one token conservative) were allowed to discuss the issues-not yell about them. Hey, BW why not get 3 age groups with one conservative & one liberal from each group and let them express their views without coming to blows. Now, you'd have a show that appeals to the masses (in other words both liberals & conservatives) and shows the real views of women across this country.

In reading the other posts I agree with Ann. Rosie should be charged with treason. She is right on!! The media is run by people like Rosie, so lets tune out the liberal media and take our stand. Also, by reading these posts. The people who do watch The View are just like her also. Remember if we ban together there are far more conservatives out their than the liberals realize. Conservatives boycott, boycott, boycott!!!

38. I wanted to find out why there has not been any comments on the various News channels regarding the "outrageous statement" made by Rosie and the cure for diaper rash. How profound and medically approved this sounds ..."Have a dog lick the baby's bottom" and this will cure the rash. I'm sure it was also in the most recent publication and newsletter sent out from "The John Hopkins University". How can ABC "The View" tolerate such abnormal comments by a hostess who is supposed to be informatiove to the public viewers.

I wonder "how many newborn baby's are having their butts licked all over the country" because of her outrageous comments!

39. 1. What a sick statement:
"Radical Christianity is as threatening and dangerous as radical Islam"
2. Telling the audience while bathing with Rosie, her child wanted to know when he/she would "get fur" like her.
3. A dog licking her childs poopie a$$?! What, after munching on a few dog nuggets in the yard or perhaps a dead squirrel first?
She is utterly disgusting. I have tuned them out. The initial ratings were to witness the "shock effect" and see if there would be any cat fights. Poor, poor Joy.
Gotta have Elizabeth to keep things interesting.

40. Rosie is an idiot with absolutely no class. Her magazine stunk and her last show was nothing more than an attempt for her to push her name.
This show was nothing more than female gossip anyway, now that Rosie is there, it will turn out to be a battle between her and Baba WaWa......who by the way has more class in her little toe than Rosie will ever have in a lifetime.

41. We are long time viewers of 'The View," but it's becoming difficult to watch the show, given Rosie's constant overtalking and interrupting the other women.....And Thursday's "Keebler Production" featuring Rosie, of course, was just a stupid commercial that insults the viewers....Everything's about Rosie; maybe the theme song should be changed to "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better."

42. NOT MUCH TO WAY EXCEPT THAT ROSIE HAS TAKEN OVER THE VIEW.

43. I could only stand to watch The View in very limited quantities before the personnel changes -- now, with the addition of Rosie -- I'll pass on watching it at all! Elizabeth is the only real "lady" in the bunch and I wonder how long she can stand to keep such rude company.

Posted at 1:58AM on Sep 16th 2006 by Terrance Smith

44. Well, I have to admit, Rosie does seem to not listen to her own comments about trying to tone it down and let others talk. She can be overbearing and hopefully, she will read enough information like this, or ABC or Barbara will provide the overall feedback, that she will learn when it is appropraite tostart talking, when to shut up and when it is approriate to make a jokes. Joy hang in there, things will even out, I hope! Elisabeth, well, I liked you on Survivor, but your views are a little to right for me and you really should not make comments about subjects you have no clue about. Let's give it a few more months to see what happens. You go girls!

45. If you are going to call a show "The View" then it might be appropriate for there to
be more than one. At least when Merideth was there, it seemed somewhat civil.
I find Rosie overbearing, rude, crude and disrespectful of anyone not drinking her kool aid. For someone who is screaming tolerance 24/7, Rosie has absolutely no tolerance for any view but her own. The TV execs are always telling us to change the channel if we don't like something they're hyping that most people consider crass. So I did. Rosie problem solved. Bye bye View.
