Rosie is the Next Big Thing -- Again!

Everyone, myself included, has been doubting Barbara Walter's brainstorm to hire Rosie O'Donnell to replace Star and/or Meredith on "The View." The arguments against Rosie -- not a team player, difficult to get along with, difficult to get along with, difficult to get along with.

Well doubters be damned -- Rosie seems to be connecting with the audience. The ratings for "The View" are up -- pretty significantly. Rosie has moved to Meredith's chair, which sorta makes her the leader of the pack. And my spies tells me that at least on stage, things are pretty copasetic.

There have been rumblings that Elizabeth doesn't get along with Rosie; that Joy is getting tired of playing second fiddle; that Rosie thinks the production of the show is bush league at times. There may be a little truth in some of this, but it wouldn't be the first time a show succeeded in spite of difficult stars; indeed, Exhibit A is Rosie's wildly successful talk show.

The fact is, Rosie is blending better than I ever expected. Besides, nothing succeeds like success. If the rating continue to climb, I doubt the other gals would try and sabotage her -- Rosie could end up being their annuity.

In my mind, the real test will be the relationship between Rosie and Barbara. These are both very strong, controlling individuals with strong points of view. Neither of them are known for compromise. Yet it's inevitable -- if "The View" is to survive with Rosie, compromise on both sides is essential. On that, the jury is out.

46. I think Rosie is basically mean-spirited and a VERY unhappy person.

Some advice Rosie -- if you're gonna be a bitch. Do some homework and get your facts straight. Are you on crack, or just a genius?

47. Rosie CAN'T get any bigger, can she??? Did she swallow John Candy....?
she is vile and obnoxious- Meredith had class and charm-

-- Rosie makes Joy appear to be rational and reasonable- quite an accomplishment--- so Rosie should order some more donuts and enjoy.... I will no longer be watching- or listening- to that giant disgusting woman.....

48. I was running thru the channels one morning and heard that god awful voice and stopped to watch about 1 minute and all I saw was Big mouth interrupting Barbara and all Babs did was shut her mouth and let The Mouth take over. POOR BARBARA SHE DOESN'T KNOW SHE IS ABOUT TO LOSE HER SHOW but no big deal .

49. Rosie is a big mouth liberal. She is gross. They put Elizabeth on as the conservative who can't even defend her ideas.

50. I'm not a huge fan of Rosie's. However, I don't think she's as bad as people are saying she is. She has not been hogging the show, like some people before me posted. I have been tivo'ing the shows and I think Rosie's doing a pretty good job, letting everyone talk with her. I love the comment about it being great, if it were just Rosie and Joy. Joy is the only one not getting on my nerves anymore. I am a staunch Republican, like Elizabeth. However, that whiney, whiney, I'm better than you attitude from Elizabeth has gotten on my last nerve. I'm done with her!!!!! As far as Barbara, this is kind of hard for me to say, because I really, really admired that woman, for all she had done for female journalists. However, I'm done with her now too!!! We, get it Barbara, everyone knows, you were the first woman, blah, blah, blah. All that respect I had for you, went out the door this year, over your ego with Star, your ego over Walter Kronkite, or whoever it was, you didn't get along with, but the most shocking to me, was your talk over the summer about your affair with a MARRIED MAN! I lost all respect for anything you have ever done in your life. At least Star has dignity!!!!! And, by the way, stop moving seats on the set. Find a seat and stick with it. The other thing, you can't seem to get right, since Meredith left is the sign-off phrase. You say it a different way every other day. It's not that hard, Barbara-------it goes like this-----And, take a little time to enjoy the VIEW!!!! Duh!!! Lastly, I must say, I didn't really care about STAR, one way or another, but now I like her and not Barbara, because Barbara you should have just kept your MOUTH SHUT and let Star leave in her own way- as she did. It was not NEGATIVE, you are the one that made it negative. Even, my brother who could care less, commented on what a bitch he thought Barbara was. All you had to do was just keep your mouth shut!!! But, your ego had to let you get the last word. Well, you did, and in doing so, you isolated alot of people. But, your ego won't allow you to see that, so maybe one of your producers will see these blogs and share it with you. A little bit of humility can go a long way!!!!!!

51. I just love me some Rosie. She is fresh and open minded, loving and up to date on whats going on with us as Americans and human beings. I agree that Barbara seems like she is waiting for something to happen, maybe Rosie saying the wrong thing and Joy does seem to take a back seat, and then little Miss Liz....well I don't know where she comes from anyway except to even things out and perhaps reach those straight and narrow conservative viewers out there. It is a different show since Meredith and Star but life is change and I for one am soooo happy Rosie is back. Kudo's to her and as far as the gay thing...that is part of who she is so why should she not speak of it. Liz talks about her husband and Joy her man of many years etc. Shouldn't Rosie have the same right??? Wake up people and get with the times and stop with the prejudices and judgement. Give it a chance. My vote is for Rosie and Joy!!!!

52. I think Rosie is a paradox. She's soft-hearted for the weak and defenseless and is known to be a fiercely loyal friend. Professionally, she'a all alpha female, controlling and aggressive. I believe that's what makes her so polarizing. I cringe at her thoughtless comments but also applaud her saying what others are too polite to express. I like that she has an opinion and a forum for its expression. But she's definitely sown discomfort among the ladies. And maybe that's what they need. (Now if they could only get rid of their note cards and cross talk.) I'd have to agree with Harvey; she is the next big thing, but Miss Thing needs to give a little .

53. Please the worst move big bossy Barbara ever did was to put that Long Island Big Mouth on television again, I thought we were rid of her, good work Barbara. Your hiring of that Mouth Piece was just to spite Star Jones, well I hope it crashes down and the show goes downhill.
Replacing Meredith and Star with someone who had class would have been the right thing to do. Because here we go again with hearing about Rosie's kids for an hour a day and just looking at her makes me ill.
Class is what that show needed, how could you replace Meredith Viera with such I don't even want to say it. And I'm suprised that Joy and Eliziebeth didn't have more of a say so in picking who gets to sit in that chair. But I expect that from Barbara Walters, there's something seriously wrong with her as well, she should stay home and mind her business and let the women she hired handle the show, half the time she doesn't know what's coming out of her mouth. Boo for the View. Joy and Elizebeth certainly have my sympathies. Use to Love the show, I'll never watch again. A Turned off past fan

54. i can see some tension with the others girls because of Rosie. Joy was the funnier one, and Rosie seems to be overpowering that. One can see that Joy is bothered by this by her fake smiles when Rosie makes a joke. It kind of seems that Barbra is bothered by Rosie trying to take the position of being a leader. I find it ridiculous the way Rosie gives away gifts. Its nice that she gives gifts away. But she seems to exaggerate and be ridiculous in the way she gives gifts out. She might have been the one that originally started the gift giving, but even Oprah has done a better job to present gifts to the audience. The view has become Rosie's show. The other girls are left out. I like Rosie, but when she had her show. I think she would be better if she toned down her powerful act. I liked the view when Meridith and Star were on. They always had an intresting point of view and they had good arguments against each other. Now it's what Rosie says, and they girls try to say something, but Rosie has to cut off their point of view. Rosie ofent talks about being gay. We all know she is. We have heard how great her life is, which i respect that. It's time to move on now.

55. The jury is definitely still out on Rosie. The ratings are up only because everyone is still curious and trying to evaluate Rosie's MO. Her agression is showing it's all too familiar face.
When Rosie's son asked her why he didn't have a Daddy - and she commented "because Mommie didn't choose a Daddy, instead she chose another Mommie", - and the kid accepted it -of course he didn't question it, he's only 5 yrs. old. The fact that THAT made it "o.k." to Rosie, but how confusing for a child. I accept gay lifestyles but Rosie flaunts her lesbian lifestyle to the point that is pushing it in the viewers face.

It's becoming "Rosie's Show" and the big question is - how long will Barbara cope with it.

56. Rosie is so blah, blah, blah that the other women can not get a word in edge wise. Rosie has turn me off to the view she never stops talking. Poor Barbara looks so unhappy now.

57. I,too, for some weird reason am enjoying Rosie, she is articulate and
very well informed. She should stop with the constant "I am gag" bit.......
we know already.!!! And the incessant talk of her kids,is getting tedious
Any one that can out-talk Barbara,is O.K. in my books.Another host
should definately be hired,so that Barbara only appears occasionally,
as it was when it first started 9 years ago.......5 days a week of Barbara
is too much Barbara.!!! I agree wholeheartily with the "get rid of the
Elisabeth crowd" she is a total air-head,who adds nothing to the show
and is furious with guests or the other girls, who dare to speak their
views on this inept Prez. Her defense of him is childish,at best............
and inane at the least. I can't wait to see her take Rosie on(who has
no love whatsoever for this prez.) she has been told,I betcha,by her
nibs,Miss Barbara,to "soft peddle it". One day, however she will get
back to spouting her defensive rhetoric of Bush........and Rosie will
make "mince-meat" of her.!!!! Now that would be worth "Viewing".

58. Think dollars and cents NOT sense - The commercials will tell you what type of audience they want to attract. Whether or not these 'hostess' reflect that in the advertisers sales is something else entirely. Break it down - there is Elizabeth, newly married, new mom, has been sheltered forever with money probably funded directly from the Rebublican Party somehow and it shows. Barbara Walters - the Queen of Dignity and Grace, a lovely Libra. Joy - have mercy! Not funny in my book. I grew up in New Jersey. Nuff said. And add Rosie in the mix and we have an advertisers dream. AND thats not even throwing in the race card or Star Jones into the mix. What insults me more than anything is the fact that the male run t.v. world thinks this is what women would want to watch if they had an hour to kill. As far as I am concerned now there are 2 women with annoying accents on The View.

59. I know this is really bad, but I couldn't help cracking up laughing when I read one article's title "Thar She Blows!"

60. This is naughty too... when Joel McCrea on The Soup said that Rosie was in the bath & her child asked her when they were going to get their fur too & then he paused & said, "My question is why is she bathing with her back to the child?"

Seriously, when you are a "radical liberal," and possible atheist you put yourself out there. The majority of the US will be turned off.

Maybe Rosie will take that spinoff she has been offered from Nip/Tuck and she will leave The View.
