Skewing The View on "The View"

The denizens of "The View" did a startling switcheroo on their audience today. After walking out, Barbara Walters took the seat at the opposite end of the table from Rosie O'Donnell, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck sat next to Rosie, bringing the two most combustible elements amongst the co-hosts together. Joy Behar stayed in her customary just-right-of-center spot.

Barbara explained that they'd been sitting in the same seats for some time, and that this would "shake things up" a little; Joy then joked that there was an imprint on her chair from all the years of gluteal pressure. And Rosie had piped in on her blog at rosie.com over the weekend, saying that she thought she looked like "gigantor the spaceage robot" sitting next to Barbara, as she had in week one. In fact, according to Rosie, her physical presence loomed so large that they cut 3 inches off her chair by the second day's broadcast. (An ABC rep says it won't be the last switch and that they're done "at the discretion of production.")

And if "View" watchers were hoping that proximity would ignite some sparks between Ro and Elisabeth, it didn't happen, even though two highly flinty topics came up, gay marriage and the war in Iraq.

But the signal moment of today's show was surely Barbara Walters' suggestion that her dog had talked to her. She told her co-hosts that she leaned down to tell her Havanese dog Cha-Cha "I love you," and that the dog actually responded "I love you" back. It now appears that Joy Behar is now the most psychologically sound person on the show. Stay tuned.

31. I am glad to see them get new blood on the show. Rosie will bring a breath of fresh air back into the program! We can get back to being entertained and informed at the same time, instead of listening to four women full of themselves.
Race has nothing to do with it, EGO is the issue here. They should replace them
all. Maybe I will watch it again.

33. Hey # 11 (appalled) I agree with you!!! There are too many hispanics in the USA that they can't find one for The View! Cabrone, what kind of a pinche penga are you anyway? Many people speak several languages across the globe... what's wrong with un poquito Spanglish aqui y alla? Do you really expect us to believe that English is in danger? C'mon, dude. Open your mind and heart a little and you'll see the world is a more interesting place because of it... honestly, papi, no puedo creer que aun hay gente como ti... get a life!

34. What a strange View it was today, first with Barbara saying her dog talked to her,and then to hear Rosie's view of the Iraq war,and her
ridiculous comments, but I was so totally grossed out after hearing Rosie's cure for diaper rash,I could hardly believe she could be so crude.I really don't think Rosie will last. She needs to check her mouth, big time. She talks over all of them, especially Elisabeth.I think Joy is miffed at her almost the whole show.Should be interesting tomorrow to see if Barbara feels the need to apologize for Rosie's uncouthness.

35. Rosie's comment today about the diaper rash remedy is so totally disgusting,I can hardly believe she would have the nerve to say such a thing on tv.I thought Barbara was going to exploded, she looked really embarrassed.Did anyone else notice?
Her comment about her dog talking to her was quiet strange, also.
I'll be curious to see tomorrows show.

36. Just my opinion, but I think people are making a bigger deal out of Rosie's diaper rash remedy than it really was. I saw the show today, heard her comments and was not disgusted or incensed. I think the fact of the matter is, when you're not a fan of someone, you are hypersensitive / hypercritical of everything they say or do and when you don't mind someone or like them, you let a lot of things pass or not phase you at all. I enjoy Rosie, think she is silly, sharp, interesting and adds a fun dynamic to the group. It is definitely different and it's amazing how many people are so resistant to change and/or are biased against others for their sexual orientation.

38. First of all why do all homosexual people think that if you do not agree with their lifestyle you are gay bashing? And I have never liked Rosie or Barbara, so the View has never been viewed by me or anyone else I know. I do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but it is their choice. It is also my right to teach my children and voice my opinion against that lifestyle choice. People like to drink and I am against that lifestyle choice as well. I have seen too many families that have been torn a part over it, or killed. I am against smoking. If I can speak out against these then why not the homosexual lifestyle?

40. I am appalled by comments of #11. There is nothing wrong with people speaking Spanish and singing the national anthem in Spanish. Big deal. I am a
Canadian who happens to be black and we sing our anthem in both English and French. Also, there are plenty of people of my race helping the African causes. Oprah does a lot of good work in Africa and others. Most governments are not helping them. Look at all the suffering in the Sudan. They have no oil there so the slaughter continues. All the UN does is talk. No action. Another Rwanda. Very tragic. Also, if every minority was sent back to their own place of origin, the only ones left would be the Native Americans who were cheated out of their land by whites and are still suffering today. Someone needs to get a clue. The majority of people in the world are people of color and they all speak different languages. Come into the real world and get the real picture. Also, the View is going downhill. They all suck. So boring already.

41. Rosie's comment about dogs licking child's diaper rash is just nuts. What dr. did she go to? I guess it makes sense to her. She thinks Lesbian is o.k., why not introduce animals - right? Is beastiality next? It's just WRONG! She also thinks it's o.k. to bathe with her six-year-old son! That's wrong too!
