Anna's Son's Death: "Definitely Not a Heart Attack"

Daniel and Anna Nicole Smith TMZ spoke with a source directly connected with the investigation who confirmed that the cause of death of Anna Nicole's Smith's son Daniel was "definitely not a heart attack."

Sources tell TMZ the coroner will hold an official inquiry into Daniel's death on October 23rd. Sources say they have definitely established a preliminary cause of death, but are awaiting a toxicology report, which should be completed late today or tomorrow. Sources say the toxicology report is routine in a sudden death. We're told police are currently conducting a "wide open investigation" into Daniel's death. Daniel was found dead in his mother's hospital room just days after she had delivered her new baby girl.

TMZ is also told that Daniel's body had "no external injuries." The sources refused to say if the 20-year-old suffered internal injuries.

Police sources say they are not ruling out a third party in connection with the death, but add they are not looking at anyone specific at this time.

16. How sad is this , Its suppose to be one of the happies times of her life giving birth to her child but unfortunately its not. Something isn't right here just what was he doing in the hospital sleeping at 9a.m. anyways, didn't he have a place he was staying at? What is the reall deal whats really going on.I feel as if we aren't being told everything. I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out more. I do hope Anna and her daughter ae well and folks give her time to grieve and god bless her.

17. Lori - you are so right. I truly feel nothing but sympathy for Anna at this time. I'm also sorry for the loss of your brother. I have a 3 year old son and I would never want him to do some of the things I did in my teens and 20s but I know that I can't protect him from everything forever. There is nothing sadder to me than the loss of a child.

22. I was listening to the account of the phone conversation Spokesperson for the Diet Company Ms. Nicole represents had with Ms. Nicole after her son's death.
It was aired on television. During "their" conversation this spokesperson said
when Ms. Nicole-Smith couldn't rouse her son she started to plead and
yell for her "attorney", who was in her room at the time...to do something.
He too, the spokesperson said, had spent the night, along with the son
in her room. Could he, the attorney, be the mystery person the police are
not naming at this time?

Other people watching that interview with the spokesperson must have
heard this too...but nothing has been mentioned, thus far, about the
attorney.

27. Who cares about anna n. and her tragic story. There are thousands of tragic stories every day in this world. Why would a former playboy models tragic event be more important than anyone others. Go do some charity work the all of you!

28. Listen up, as a mom I feel for Anna Nicole. This is the worst situation a parent can be in and I hope she gets alot of help during this time. THAT SAID, I have seen people try to offer suggestions about how he could've died.... such as since Anna Nicole obviously used some sort of drug be it illegal or otherwise and her and Daniel were so close, could he have died from an OD? I am not gonna sit here and blame Anna Nicole for her sons death, but I will not ignore the bad influences she presented in this boys life! Yes she loved her son, but I doubt she would ever win mother of the year. If a crack head had a child and the child grew up to do crack as well because he saw it all his life, then he OD's from it, would it not be because his mother showed him the wrong way in life? Maybe Daniel didn't die from drugs, alcohol, or any other substance..... but you cannot help thinking that possibility with Anna Nicole being who and how she is.
