Apologies to Matt Damon ...

For reasons we can't explain, yet find completely hysterical, Jimmy Kimmel has made a tradition of closing out episodes of the third season of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" by saying something like, "Apologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time" -- when Damon was never scheduled to be on the show.

Well on Wednesday's primetime special, "Jimmy Kimmel Live's All-Star Salute to Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Damon finally got his chance to appear on the show -- only Jimmy's introduction ran a bit long, so Damon was cut short once again.

And as you can see in the clip, Damon (quite the good sport for going along with the joke) didn't take the news too well. Maybe next time, Matt!

16. That was soooo obviously a joke, but obviously a damn good one if so many people believe it's real.....remember folks that Matt Damon is a very good actor, so he can act pissed on demand. I mean do you really think Matt would act that pissed off while the cameras were rolling? He's smarter than that.

19. well well TMZ, youve blocked yet another one my email addies so i cant access.

Heres on for you TMZ'ers, be sure to diss AOL, Harvey Levin, Time Warner, Paris Hilton, and see how long it takes before they ban you. ~Check this out.~
Dear TMZ, that was an obviously stunt on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Anyone wanting the real low down on hollywood information would go to, but...seeing how your digging in the proverbial catbox for items to put on your hack web page, you're dumb enough to fall for this. As for Matt and Jimmy, its called acting, and as for the joke...its been done. Oh wait....i see, your free ride (Paris) is laying low since the general public has figured out she's a BOLDFACE LYING SLUT LUSH. If you pulled your collective heads out of Paris Hiltons ass, you might have figured it out. Everything about TMZ is hack...AOL, Time Warner, Harvey Levin, Paris Hilton...

YOU ALL SUCK.

p.s. lol...and the fact CNN goes to TMZ for "facts" on anything is an indication that maybe they need clued in on the fact that...........YOU SUCK!!!!!

21. Wow... Anyone who thought that was real should immediately put on a helmet and stay indoors... Damon was a great sport and Kimmel's long running joke payed off huge... Good job all around.

23. I think it was a joke. Jimmy is very funny and he brings alot of fun to late nite shows. The rest of them like Leno and Letterman are so old and we have seen it all before

24. I am not 100% sure that Matt Damon was in on the joke like some of you have said..... who knows when it comes to anything Jimmy Kimmel related.

26. Its too bad that this overshadows Ben Stiller's participation. Ben's bit was almost as good as his Extras episode.

28. I thought that the clip was in very bad taste. I can't believe that Jimmy Kimmel cut Matt Damon off after all those shows where he kept saying "Apologies to Matt Damon, we're out of time." I could tell that Matt was really angry and later stormed off the set. Jimmy kept going on for over a minute with his introduction. No,I don't think it was a gag or joke, because I could tell that Matt wanted his interview time with Kimmel and he never got it. I wanted to laugh, but when Matt later lashed and cursed at Jimmy, the laughing sucked out of the room. I'm sure that Matt wanted to talk about his latest movie, but we never got to hear it. He didn't even get to SPEAK! Yes, I know this is all for TV and ratings and over-the-top high jinks, but you don't cut off a guest like that after boasting all about him for a minute before! It just looked crass to me!!!!!!

29. People people it was a joke and a great one at that. Kimmel is King whereas Letterman and Leno are lame. Damon was a great sport and did a wonderful job acting. I think I like him a bit more for doing this.

30. Matt didn't look like he was joking he ment every word just look how red he got. Jim might off promise him some time and just play him at the end. That's mess up Jim I really wanted to see Matt. I don't blame Matt for telling Jim to go F*** himself. It's ok to play a joke but I think Jim went to far.
