"FutureSex/LoveSounds" Scores Big

justin timberlakeThis week proved that once again Justin Timberlake is one boy band member who can enjoy success after leaving the boys behind.

Sales numbers for his second offering, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," are in, and with the buzz around his single "SexyBack," he was able to upstage the sales of first offering, "Justified," back in 2004. In its first outing, "FutureSex/LoveSounds" sold 684,000 units in one week. Not bad, although not nearly as close as his *NSYNC cohorts who sold over 2 million albums in one week back in 2000.

It also didn't hurt that he collaborated with some of the most talented producers in hip-hop music today, including JAWBreakers, Timbaland and Rick Rubin.

Let's hope JT can avoid the fate that has befallen other pop icons in their second week of album sales. Jessica Simpson's "Public Affair" dropped 41% in its second week in stores and this week Beyoncé's "B'Day" dropped an astounding 70%. Ouch.

16. I can not STAND Justin Timberlake. There isn't one original thing about his punk ass. If it wasn't for Timbaland no one would half way acknowledge him. His singing sucks, his song sucks, and he's about as talented as a waffle...which is a mean thing to say about a waffle...

17. I don't get the hype with Justin Timberlake at all. In my opinion he is a little over-rated and yeah I agree with some previous posters: he's always playing the victim when it comes to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. He's so damn full of himself! And his music is not that spectacular either! When he released Justified, everyone was comparing his singing and dancing to Michael Jackson's, and now with this album, people are comparing the music to Prince's. Can't Justin do anything without copying from recording artists who are bigger than him???

18. "If his new solo album is supposed to be so successful, having sold 684,000 in its first week, then tell me, isn't this still a major decline from the days when N' Synch sold over 1.6 million in a week???"

No, that is average these days for almost any project. You forget that our economy is in the shitter. Things were a fuck of a lot different back in 2000, but you're probably 14 or something so you don't remember, that would explain your awful typing skills. It seems only retards comment on this site.

19. If most of your fans buy your album in the first week, it's no surprise that it drops off so dramatically. Duh.

20. Poster #16, nobody is selling 1.6 million in a week anymore. The tracks from the album are leaked before it's released and music is downloaded from the internet illegally everyday. The music industry as a whole is suffering from the technology. People aren't even buying whole albums anymore, and despite that, Justin's second lp has topped his first album in sales, so yes it's worth celebrating!

Poster #17, you must educate yourself about the culture of music and historical comparisions. Michael Jackson borrowed from the artists that came before him. Critics compared Michael to James Brown and Jackie Wilson. Prince was often compared to Jimi Hendrix and Little Richard.
There's nothing wrong with the comparisions to those superstars, that's actually the best complement an artist can receive.

Just the fact that Justin is being compared to this caliber of r&b artists is a compliment to him as a vocalist and performer. He has really come a long way and is carving his own niche in the industry.

21. I've gotta admit, JT's new cd is really good. He isn't afraid to try new things and new sounds and he is working with some of the best producers out there. All the songs DO NOT sound the same.....the whole cd flows. LOVE IT. Cut him and Cam some slack....it's got to be hard to have cameras on you all the time. It isn't like they signed up for some reality show.

As for Jessica and Beyonce, they both released sub-par cd's. Beyonce can do a lot better, I'm sure. Jessica just sucks. Can't sing, can't dance, can't hold the publics' attention with her ditsy act......so, I'm not surprised her album sells reflect that. Hope her movie does well, or her 15 minutes may be up.

24. Like #22 said, this is an awsome CD. I am really enjoying this CD. As of Jessica Simpsons CD falling some 41%, this CD Sucks. My nieces bought it and took it back for a refund. Her new movie is going to suck also. When I was at the movies the other night a preview for her movie came on and people were moaning and throwing things at the screen. I'm sure her dad will pimp her out to do porn next.

25. what kind of name is that for an album with a fan base around the age of 13?

26. It will take one more CD before JT realizes he's a has-been, just like Jessica and Beyonce are, since they no longer can sing. They may be making a lot of money, but I don't think they're making it through their music, which was got them to stardom. Before you know it, they'll all be the next batch of the Surreal Life members and making money off apperances like Paris Hilton. Good Luck guys!

27. 25: his fanbase has grown up now. If you really want to get preachy go look at Paris Hilton, how many 14 year olds have her listed under "who I would like to meet" on myspace? Sex isn't a bad thing, but being a fucking whore is. Give it some thought, grow up a little.

28. 26: You spell death way too soon. Give it time. I knew Nick and Jess were heading for a divorce in late 2005, nobody would listen though. Anyway, Justin and Beyonce's talent taps haven't dried up yet, but Jessica Simpson on the other hand... Remember when that bitch used to sing? Now she just throws some half assed breathy vocals down on a track because they think it makes her sound "sexy" and "seductive" and as her own label said "people should be able to sing along with your songs." So, in the name of whoredom she released In This Skin which didn't sell for shit. Then she re-released it with a media whoring campaign and as a tie in to her shitty scripted reality show and it sold. The American public ate the shit right out of her hand. Then came Dukes of Hazard and she was this "sex symbol" and all this bullshit and now she talks with a fake southern accent that's painful to listen to (she pissed me right the fuck off at the VMAs)

There's only one way for Jessica Simpson to go.
