Oprah Gets Lucky

9/20/2006 9:22 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Oprah WinfreyOprah Winfrey believes the world revolves around Oprah, but not in Montecito, Calif., where 12 -- count 'em -- 12 billionaires reside. As one plugged-in resident tells TMZ, "Oprah's nobody special: There are lots of insanely rich and famous people here." But then again, maybe not: At least one swanky steak house -- Lucky's in Montecito -- thinks Oprah is a big, big deal. When Oprah gets a hankering for a little sumthin'-sumthin' after hours, the steak house staff jumps into action.

Recently, sometime after the kitchen closed officially at 10:30PM, Ms. Winfrey paid a surprise visit to the steakhouse and the normally eager-to-leave kitchen crew was more than willing to fire up the grill just for the Queen of Talk. Who knew that "O" stood for "Open any time"? Perhaps Lucky's learned a lesson from the Hermés playbook -- never tell Oprah you're closed.

Angelina JolieAngelina Buys $400,000 Worth of Bizarre Art – With a Bullet

This ought to brighten up the view in Shiloh's nursery: Angelina Jolie bought hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of art at a recent LA show by British artist-provocateur Banksy at a downtown LA warehouse, including a $226,000 painting that shows starving African children looking on as a white family eats a picnic lunch under an umbrella.

According to Star magazine, Angie especially liked a white bust with a bleeding bullet hole in the forehead which went for, oh, $75,000. And then there was the portrait of a man hit in the head with a custard pie – that one went for another $75,000. Angelina restrained herself however, from buying the show's centerpiece, a life-sized red and gold elephant.

Whitney HoustonDippy Divas Unite: Whitney Mentored By Courtney

If there's one songstress out there who might be an even bigger train wreck than Whitney Houston has been in recent years, it's Courtney Love. And yet, according to reports, legendary music producer Clive Davis enlisted the famously unstable Love's services to help Houston, who is on her way to divorcing pop star hubby Bobby Brown, kick her drug problems.

After getting the call from Davis, Love jumped at the chance to be a steadying influence on Whitney, according to Us Weekly (via IMDb), and now the two are getting along famously. Love has introduced Whitney to her own addiction counselor Warren Boyd, and Davis is paying for the expensive sessions.

Davis, meanwhile, is getting the newly-healthy Whitney back onto the singing treadmill, and would love if she made her big comeback by the Grammys early next year. If all goes as planned, says Page Six, Whitney could have a new album out by 2007: "We are going to make a great album. She is talking enthusiastically and is articulate. In opinion, the best singers in the world are Aretha [Franklin] and Whitney."

Jean-Michel CousteauCousteau Blasts Irwin -- "Don't Mess With Nature"

Jean-Michel Cousteau wagged a big Gallic finger at the late Steve Irwin Tuesday, saying that if the beloved Crocodile Hunter hadn't interfered with nature by jumping on and grabbing animals, he'd still be alive.

Promoting his own two-part TV special, Cousteau said that while he mourns the death of Irwin, whose funeral was held in Queensland yesterday, and called it "very, very unfortunate," it was Irwin's gonzo approach to nature television that cost him his life. "It sells, it appeals to a lot of people, but I think it's very misleading. You don't touch nature, you just look at it. And that's why I'm still alive. I've been diving over 61 years – a lot many more years than he's been alive – and I don't mess with nature."

Party Favors: Tori To Play Gossip Reporter, Jack Gets Strapped Into Scorsese Flick, HBO Gets Gym Teacher Show From Ferrell

After being hounded by them for years, Tori Spelling will get to play a gossip columnist in a guest role in the CW's "Smallville" this season, says TV Guide ... Jack Nicholson tells Rolling Stone magazine that he convinced director Martin Scorsese to let him improvise a sex scene in their new film "The Departed," bringing a certain strapped-on sex implement into a threesome with two women ... HBO has snapped up the rights to "P.E.," a hotly sought-after new comedy series from Will Ferrell's production company Gary Sanchez Productions. The series is about a former major leaguer who has to go back to his hometown to teach gym.

Cousteau will never be as great as his father. And Steve was not just a watcher, he brought you up close and personal with nature. How many of us have never caught a frog, lizard, snake, or other wildlife when we were kids. Maybe we did not try to tackle a croc but we wanted to handle wildlife. What about Wild Kingdom? Marlin Perkins for you who remember. Just because Cousteau chooses not to touch wildlife does not make Steve wrong. And Steve did not die because he touched or got too close to wildlife, he died because God felt it was time. None us live life unless God allows it. You could be killed by a drunk driver a lot easier than doing what Steve was doing. Cousteau keep your distance and make sure you live to be 62, play it safe and maybe you will live the next time you go driving.

Funny how Jacques memory is distorted of his own actions. WHy was he going after all the animals and trying to get closer all the time. Maybe he is jealous, after all STeve did get to touch the animals.

Phillip, Jacques, grandson was on the boat with Irwin when he died and said he did nothing wrong. He did not jump on the Sting Ray but was standing by it. Jacques has to get his facts straight. In the past did Steve jump on animals yes to move them or get them rescued. He didnt do it just to be on tv.

Angelina spent $400,000 on art. I wonder how many hosues that could have built in New Orleans? You know Brad was on TV wanting to build 30 enrgy saving house there. I guess he just wanted someone else to pay for them. Maybe the tax payers ? And how many could $400,000 feed in all these poor countries Angie and Brad visit? Maybe they just want the government and other good citizens to donate their money for that. And do not tell me well they give a lot too. If you have $400,000 to waste on art then you have $400,000 to help others more. If I had $400,000 my kids education would be paid for and we poor all know how much college cost now.

Jean-Michel Cousteau: How many kids and adults have you entertained like Steve did? No one even payed attention to wildlife until Steve showed how fun and interesting animals could be. You should be thankful for having Steve bring much needed attention to animals to the rest of the world you silly bastard.

Angelina Art Purchase - I'm not an art expert but what message does the "white family eating" while "starving black children watch" picture send to their children? They need to get together and decide what message they want to send OR do a better job of keeping their purchases private so we don't see them as the hypocrites that they are.

I love how all these jerk-offs are coming out of the woodwork trying to smear Steve Irwin's name AFTER he's dead. What? Not enough balls to do it while he was still here to defend himself?

Steve has a family that will always remember him, for everything thing he has done. I can not believe someone would try to down grade Steve in any shape or form. I personally thought he was crazy for some of the things he was doing, but then again that's what made him so special. May all of his family heal with time and prays. May his family have private time to mourn.

Whitney really needs Clive Davis to bring her back, as a matter of fact he proably is the only one who can. This is the same man that created her wholesome image in the first place. This man is a genius. When she left him, all hell broke loose, and the truth came out. And we saw the results. This man is a image maker.

The elephant in the Banksy exhibit was life sized because it was an actual live painted elephant.

I guess Angelina is not much of a humanitarian when it comes to animals.

My husband passed away last year and every night watched the crocodile hunter after work> He loved the komoto dragons and the crocs.I see people writing about how the dangers were there for Steve. To me i feel he helped the earth and society as a whole. God gave us these creatures and he showed actually how to take nature and his love for them and intertwine them both for the good of every one of us. he touched every one in my family forever by being apart of a good conservation family and knowing we have lost a good man he"ll be next to the mother in heaven he loved so much while his father continues with terri, bindi and bob in the world. thank you steve you will be missed by millions..God Bless Steve Irwins family

If Angelina cared sooooo much for the poor unfortunate children of another continent, then why didn't she just use the $400k she spent on that "art" and just fly over there and give it to them? I love seeing Millionaires living in mansions worth just as much as them and then say they feel sorry for the poor and wish they could help themmore than they do. Instead of living in a home worth millions, living in a moderate home worth, say, $500K instead and then they COULD do more....much much more.

Angelina - Please note that one does not try to dress like she's going to the Oscars when visiting a graffitti art show!!

$500,000 is nothing for a woman with her money - however, no matter how rich you are, that's too much to be spending on BAD art.

How truly dispicable can a person be? Not only is he jealous, that in his so-called 60 years of diving and such he hasn't done 1/10th of what Steve Irwin does every day for wildlife, but he is plain tacky. Who puts down a hero to millions the day of their memorial service? There's gotta be a better word than tacky, but I am just so upset by him that I can't think straight..... OH YEAH, how about A**HOLE!!! I will never watch or support anything this piece of crap, sorry excuse for a human being does, NEVER!!!!

I agree with comment 9. IMO, I think Whitney Houston is a better pop/R&B singer than a straight R&B singer. I feel the same way about Mariah Carey. Although Whitney has certainly been taxing the past few years, I'd love to see a big comeback--it would be really cool...
