"Dog" Breaks Ratings Record for A&E

Duane "Dog: The Family Speaks," an A&E special about the recent arrest and possible extradition of Duane Dog Chapman, was seen by 4.5 million viewers Tuesday night. The show tied the network's previously most-seen program -- a "Dog the Bounty Hunter" special about Chapman's wedding.

The broadcast set the record among viewers 18-49 for the network.

Chapman was arrested last week by U.S. marshals and released on bail. He faces possible extradition stemming from a 2003 case in which Chapman captured fugitive Andrew Luster, who was wanted on rape charges at the time, in Mexico -- where bounty hunting is illegal.

The A&E special included exclusive interview footage of Dog and his wife Beth that was shot just after his release.

61. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THIS ARREST ON DOG AND HIS CREW THREE YEARS LATER IS COMING FROM PERSONAL REASONS, EITHER FROM U.S. OFFICIALS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T DO WHAT DOG AND HIS CREW DID AND BECAUSE THE DOG MADE THEM LOOK LIKE BARNEY FIFE, OR FROM THE MEXICAN OFFICIALS WHO IS TRYING TO MAKE SOME POINT. BECAUSE WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS WOULD ACTUALLY ARREST A MAN THAT HAS DONE EVERYBODY JUSTICE, BOTH THE U.S. AND MEXICO, BY TAKING A MONSTER LIKE LUSTER OFF THE STREETS SO THAT HE CAN NEVER HURT ANYONE AGAIN. TELL ME, WHO WOULD DO THAT?

66. Why should we honor Mexico's request for any extradition since they have rejected
all of our requests? Maybe because dumya bush has his head up vicente fox's
ass!!! now, mexicao says they cannot extradite if the punishment is death or life
in prison. This is prolly cuz we cannot get their drug lords is they flee home. Can
anyone else see how corrupt mexico is? This whole thing is a set up, since the
first thing dog and crew did after using their funds to go to peurto vilarta in 1002
was go to the police station there and tell them what they were doing. They gave
them a police officer who assisted in the capture of luster and do you believe that
the officer did not know it was against the law? After 3 years of bribes by max
factor oh, and isn't it funny that the warrant coincides with congress passing
legislation for 700 miles fence and troops between mexico? This is all about
money and politics and may God Intercede and protect our boys. We love you Dog
and Leland and Tim and just can't envision you spending 12 yrs in mexican jail.

67. i belive that dog and his family are doing what every american citizen should do- care- they care about their family , they care about their neighborhood and they care about each other-they even care about strangers to the point of going on their own time and expense to get that bail jumper andrew luster. if 1 tenth of american citizens cared about their own families - down would go depressed and bored and angry teenagers- if they cared there would be less abuse of children by their own family members- and if we cared about our own neighbors, down would go urban blight- and what would happen if we cared about strangers- we might make more friends - my point is too many people are placid and non committal and too judgemental- we all should care about each other as dog and his family certaintly do. the good Lord did say- love one another as i have loved you- thank you dog for your love and care- now lets see if this american government - which i love proudly myself- will care about dog and his family. i believe the government should have been so grateful that thia ordinary un goverment trained citizen (dog) helper them so much in doing what our well trained government officials did not do - and that was to get the fugitive. 86 counts of rape - say that number again out loud feds. i personally hope dog and leland and tim are given a medal of valor for what they accomplished - ill continue to pray for the family and tonja doe- we love you too - amen

69. Dog,Leland,andTim
Our hearts go out to you and all your family. You three did everyone a favor
going there and catching Luster. We all can sleep better at night knowing,
ya'll cared enough to take that serial rapist of the streets. Tim please keep your head held high we all care about you, you did nothing wrong. Mexico should be on there hands and knees thanking you three for making mexico a safer place. I know everyone in the U.S.A. says THANKYOU WE LOVE YOU ALL. GOD BLESS YOU ALL, AND YOU FAMILY'S.

70. The U.S says they are doing this because they have a treaty with Mexico. But it is awful funny that all the U.S criminals are escaping to Mexico because then they can get away with their crimes, since the Mexician authoritys will not arrest them and turn them over. I believe that the U.S people would be more than happy to let Mexico authoritys come in and get all of their border jumpers and take them back Or all of their criminals we don't need that scum around here and when they do get arrested they can barley speek any english so they get special treatment. This all proves my point the U.S and Mexico did not want to do their jobs once again so dog did it for them he is a true hero and always will be in my eyes. I think Mexico is just money hungry and this is a good way to get money. The Chapmans DID NOTHING WRONG! Stay strong and never forget that. Your in my prayers.

72. i taped the special while i watched it and watched it again later. DOG did what needed to be done. if luster was not in jail right now how many more women would he be violating. it just seems such an injustice to put DOG and family in jail for making this world a safer place. putting DOG and family in jail would be of the biggest mistakes in the world. i don't understand mexico treating them like this, although i do realize a law was broken, but why wait until 2 weeks before the warrant would have been null & void? i guess mexico doesn't care about it's women and their safety.

73. I also belive that it was for the $. although dog did a good thing by putting lester

74. It irritates me when comments refer to obeying..or abiding the laws of Mexico, what kind of Laws do they have...when they harbor all criminals, provide surgery to anyone without being licensed, give prescription meds, to anyone with cash. Let alone all the drugs........arrest tourists with trumped up charges, throw them into their nasty inhumane jails and practically hold them for ransom.....I don't give a dam about their laws, they do not abide by ours.........They knew about Luster, they didn't care.... DOG..did....so tough sh*t for them....

75. It took alot of balls to go down to Mexico and arrest Luster. It's so messed up that our White House is allowing this to happen. No surprise since Dubya is the most corrupt and crooked president of our lifetime. Personally I think our government is in a trade of some kind with Mexico..but we'll never know because as a whole we are constantly lied to and fed propaganda.
