J. Lo Drops The Firm's Kwatinetz As Manager

Jennifer Lopez leaves manager Jeff Kwatinetz.TMZ has learned exclusively that Jennifer Lopez parted ways over the weekend with her manager of over a year, Hollywood heavyweight Jeff Kwatinetz, head of management company The Firm.

The actress-singer-fashion icon's last year has been less than fruitful professionally: Her 2005 album "Rebirth" was a disappointment, and though her role in "An Unfinished Life" with Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman was critically praised, the film itself failed to generate the expected awards-season buzz.

The split comes just before a flurry of professional activity for J.Lo. "Bordertown," in which she plays a journalist investigating the murder of young female factory workers and stars with Antonio Banderas, will be released in October, and "El Cantante," a biographical account of one of the pioneers of salsa (the dance, not the condiment), Hector Lavoe, in which she stars alongside her husband Marc Anthony, just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, where it received positive reviews and is scheduled to be released in the next several months. Her album of Spanish-language ballads "Como Ama Una Mujer" ("The Way A Woman Loves") is also scheduled for release in November.

In the last year, several managers have left The Firm, taking with them such high-profile acts as the Dixie Chicks, Orlando Bloom and Natalie Portman. The Firm issued a statement to TMZ, saying, "Jennifer is a dear friend of The Firm and will remain so regardless of the business relationship. This was a decision based on differing styles and expectations and we wish her the absolute best."

A rep for Lopez tells TMZ they have no comment at this time.

33. J Lo is so overrated. I am so sick of seeing her in the media. The reason An Unfinished Life did so bad is because of her. Without her, it may have gotten a few award nominations. She just doesn't have the respect needed as a legitimate actress. I now make it a point to avoid ANY movie she is in, even if there are other actors/actresses in it that I like. Same goes for her sad attempt at singing. When I hear her on the radio, I change the station.

35. She stinks on all levels, her voice is sooooo annoying. When she opens her mouth she sounds as stupid as she looks. In an interview with Diane Sawyer she actually used the word "realer" when referring to her relationship to Ben Afleck. Well that is NOT a word lady! Go back to school and get off the block!

36. Jennifer Lopez isn't the greatest actor , but then again I don't think she takes the most serious roles either. She did however rock in Selena . She played Selena so very well . Her music is very good . She does need to do more of the Hip Hop like she has done and made hits like " Get Right " . Loved that song alot alot !
I think she's a very beautiful woman , but I have heard that when she was with Ben Affleck that he tried to tip someone in a casino and she took back the tip and gave a lesser amount. And Ben just has a huge heart like that and is known not to be a small tipper. So she got nicknamed Pay - Lo for that incident.
Marc Anthony must be a really genuine and sensitive guy because I just think Jennifer is way prettier than he is. But hopefully they are both happy and make a life together that fullfills them both. I would like to see a little Jenny Lopez Anthony running around someday. Who knows , with a voice like Marc Anthony the baby should inherit that immaculent voice that Marc has . He truely has some awesome vocals .

39. I think Jennifer and Marc are two great Puerto Rican superstars and anyone who has anything negative to say about their talents are just jealous. They are jealous because from such a small island there are such great superstars that are well know internationally and were able to acheive so much success. I applaud you both and will always have great pride in being boricua. Continue to represent.

40. IF J LO IS THE BEST THE LATINO'S CAN DO, THAT'S BAD. SHE IS A LOUSY ACTRESS WITH A FAT BUTT. SHE RUINED A MARRIAGE TO BE WITH MARC, I HOPE SHE GETS WHAT SHE DESERVES FOR THAT... FAILURE AFTER FAILURE! SURELY THEIR ARE BETTER PERSONS, WITH CLASS, TO REPRESENT THE LATINO'S!

43. If othing else, Jennifer Lopez certainly seems to be an extremely hard worker. She's always doing something, whether it's a movie, an albumn, a clothing line, a fragerance line, etc., etc., She's not a drunk, not a drug addict, she's good to her family, and she seems to have finally found 'the one' in Mr. Anthony. I'll take her over those without any talent whatsoever (Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton), total druggies (Whitney Houston), complete out-of-control alcholics (Lindsay Lohan), or plain old freaks (Tom Cruise). She's not hurting anyone. If you don't like her movies, don't pay to see them. If you don't like her music, don't buy the albumn or change the station if her songs come on. If you don't like her clothing line, don't buy her products. If you don't like her perfume, don't purchase any of it. Your opinion on her decision to fire her manager is irrelevant. It doesn't affect you or your lifestyle, so concentrate on things you CAN control, and things you CAN influence with your opinion. Our opinons DO matter, but only if we focus them in the right area. Wasting energy on what something a person you don't even know has done is just a waste of the good you could do for issues you actually CAN control. Hope everyone has a great week! :)

44. If it wasn't for Salena, Lopez would be a BIG nobody........her talent is really blown way out of proportion, I think Hollywood just decided to stick her in movies, because they realized that Hispanics are becoming a big majority in everything so they go and stick the first one they could think of.........because there are really alot more talented hispanic actresses out there.....she only stars with big name artists who haven't really had a hit in years and need a boost, like Jane Fonda, Robert Redford, she had no chemistry with Matthew in The Wedding Planner. Give us a break Hollywood give us Salma, Madelaine Stowe, someone with real acting ability.........

45. I've gotta be honest, "The Firm", while a great name, and a great logo doesn't seem to have a great straggy in keeping clients. No one really does for these entertainmers and acts jump from agency to agency as the wind blows. Sometimes, it's all about the biggest ego and when many of these entertainers get one, they drop the folks that worked hard to get them there for someone else who is at "the flavor of the moment" agency. Jennifer Lopez is one of those "speciality" clients - whether she wants to accept it or not. She's paved the way (along with others) for VISIBLE Latino/Hispanic clientelle in Hollywood, but there is still a long way to go. So in her case, it's appropriate to drop "The Firm" at this time and find an agency that can keep her visible.
