Who really cares about Oprah? I believe she does discuss some topics that housewives might otherwise never contemplate, and that's a good thing. But she's just an entertainer. Please stop expending so much negative energy over her.

Yes, a LOT of African Americans, including Oprah, do have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to race matters. And that's ok. Have all of you forgotten that the hard-won battle for legal equality was still being waged in this country less than 50 YEARS AGO? Maybe African Americans see racism in places where there is none, but for a long, long time racism was the accepted way of life in America. It's going to take some time for black culture to forgive and forget 250+ years of being treated as sub-human.

Let's all pretend to be adults. White culture: accept that there's a double standard for racism. Even if you have never done anything racist, there's a history of it in the US. Black culture: try to understand that the vast majority of European-descended Americans are not racist. You shouldn't forget your history, but you should try to forgive and work towards forging a new society where people of all colors exist in the present as equals.

Wasn't it the Academy awards a year or two ago where she stood up and started pumping her fist in the air with her black panther power salute? How sad that a woman that’s been handed everything she has by “white” America still takes every chance she has to bite the hand that feeds and try to take credit for it herself. Her admonition that her entire staff is white just shows why she’s been somewhat successful, Caucasians are running her show.

Does no one see that the more we point out the differences (i.e. Black comics talking about whites) and treat the accomplishments OR detriments of someone by pointing out their race, that this just creates MORE distance and friction? When you are at a party and want to introduce someone, you point out their similarities. "Joe, this is Denise. She likes going to Water Parks too." You never say, "Joe,this is Denise. Even though she's black, she likes Water Parks too." It's time to start realizing the dream of MLK Jr, and start treating people the same. Make like a computer! Good for a black? Good for a white! Good for a Jew? Good for a Christian! Good for a man? Good for a woman! The sooner we do this, the sooner we can move on from this silliness that has it's roots in people who just want to turn a buck on you!
