Rev. Run Speaks Out About Family Tragedy

As TMZ first reported, the newborn baby girl of MTV and music legend Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons died yesterday at a hospital in Ridgewood, N.J.
Rev. Run speaks out about the tragic death of his newborn baby

Rev. Run issued the following statement about the tragic death of his daughter to the Associated Press: "On Sept. 26, 2006, Victoria Anne Simmons for some unknown reason chose to come early and unfortunately did not survive," his statement said. "We must accept whatever is there and once you accept unconditionally, then everything is beautiful. Every pain has a purifying effect. So whatever comes your way, just be thankful. We see life in death and believe in the celebration of life in death."

Simmons, brother of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, has five children. He can be seen on the popular MTV reality series "Run's House."

He was a founding member of pioneering rap group Run-DMC.

17. My deepest condolences and prayers are with the Simmons family with the loss of their Baby Girl....

I really appreciate and thank you all for the positive role models you set forth on your reality show.

As I know you are not acting, the depictions on your show, makes the reality all the more recognized and applauded for being such a positive Black family.

I know Justine will lean on Reverand Run as he will lean on her. Stay Strong, Positive and Keep the Faith....
My prayers are with you all.

Much Respect.

18. If you search Associated Press you'll get a link to their site. If you then go to their search and type in Joseph Simmons it will pull up an article from a NEWS site. It's highly unlikely that the Associated Press would link to a site that quotes Run sayin it if he, in fact, did not.

And my prayers are certainly with their family and friends.

21. Run's unbelievable faith is amazing. It's one thing to tell others to be strong and keep the faith. It's different when tragedy strikes in your own back yard. God Bless you and the family .............................................stay strong.

22. I seen the show when Justine done the pregnacy test and it was positive. I was so happy for them. I listened to Run DMC when I was young, now I watch Runs house. He has some wonderful, polite, sweet kids. I just Love Justine. I am so sorry to hear about the baby I was looking forward to a new season of Runs House with the baby. This is a strong family and I know Rev. Run will carry his family thru this as hard as it is. God Bless Rev Run and family, you are in my prayers

23. However devastated the family over the loss of their precious angel - that quote from Rev Run is so beautiful and eloquent. It's reflective of someone who can handle adversity and tremendous loss, truly someone who handle anything.

I'm pasting it my quotables file to comfort family and friends who experience terrible losses to offer words of comfort. Thank you for the lovely expression in such of time of despair -- God Speed.

27. First and foremost, my condolences and prayers go out to the Simmons family. Thank you for allowing "us" the public into your home and lives and presenting real love for all to see. At this difficult time, please know that your "extended family" will keep all of you in our prayers.

28. I want to send my condolences out to the Simmon's family. I truly understand how Mrs. Simmon's is feeling. This is a family that shows values/morales in their children and i have to say that it's truly appreciated to watch them as a "Black Family" on tv. Our God had better plans for lil Victoria. Easy to say but hard to understand. I truly send my heartfelt feelings to the family. May God give you all the strength and love to overcome this. I love Rev Run's family. Justine is such a great role model for their girls:)...

30. This tragedy isn't fair. How something so awful could happen to someone who has given so much just can't be explained. It is through healing music such as that made by Reverend Run and his seminal group that we can endure this level of pain. Your family is in our thoughts, Reverend.
