Terrell Owens Attempts Suicide

Terrell OwensDallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on pain medication Tuesday night, The Associated Press reports this morning, citing a police report.

According to the report, Owens even put two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived and also told rescue workers he was "depressed."

KTVT in Dallas reported that a woman named "Etheridge" -- most likely his publicist, Kim Etheridge -- called police at 7:51PM Tuesday night to report a suicide attempt. The station also reported that Owens took 35 pills.

Owens fractured a bone in his hand in a game on September 18 and had to have a plate screwed into his hand to help it heal properly.

The Cowboys have scheduled a news conference for this afternoon.

16. ame day he went to go talk to abused teens in at Dallas Schools.
Guess he figured " Hey,....that is a good form of attention getting,
sure I'll try it ".
On the flipside,....he really hasn't been
performing in the games like I thought he would. He has alienated
himself,........Only person I have really seen him talking to on the
sidelines was Vanderjat (I'm sure its spelled wrong) in the preseason
when missing field goal after field goal.
Long story short, hes a good player, hope he gets well, not just for catching a football, but personal well being.

17. As if this guy doesn't get enough attention. Terrell is washed up a regular Brian Bozworth/Maurice Clarett. He is going to be great on the Surreal Life next season! If Terrell needs more attention have him run in and out of Hyde for a week, or a reality show with him, Jeff Garcia and Donavan McNabb in a trailer going cross country. The world needs another celebrity that has accomplished nothing, ie. Kristin Cavellari, Brody Jenner, Nicole Richie, Brandon Davis (Greasy Bear), and the like.

18. Maybe he has depression, but that doesn't seem to make me feel too sorry for him. I guess having all those millions of dollars was not enough. It's not that hard to kill yourself so I don't believe he was serious. It’s a pathetic cry for help. God I hate whiners that have it all but still feel sorry for themselves.

19. I have no ill wishes for the man, but to be honest, I am sick of hearing about him. He's a pompous, arrogant and selfish man who now has to swallow his pride and lower that ego of his and he obviously can't handle it.
And by the way, his finger has been injured for a while.....why is this "allergic reaction" just affecting him now?

20. Okay im from philly and belive me To is one of the most hated people around here but i hope he is okay. I mean if anything did happen to him i think we all would much rather is happen on the football field. While dallas plays the eagles!!!!

21. Allergic reactions to pain pills are supposedly rare. I'm no doctor so I can't confirm that, it's just what people in the know have told me. Expect a lot of backing off in this story though. His publicist probably did phone this in as a suicide attempt, but now that he survived she will say she was "misquoted" as always manages to be the case. And if he really said he was depressed and put two more pills in his mouth after rescue workers arrived, then come on. Athletes are just like regular people in society. We like to believe they are not because we think they are rich and money solves all problems. But this guy clearly has issues and hopefully for his and his family's sake he gets some kind of counseling and help because he needs it. I just hope that the police and his publicist won't try and cover this up and sweep it under the rug because he is famous and they want to protect his name. Because if he really tried to do this and he doesn't get help, there will be a time when he succeeds.

24. He will always find a way to be disruptive. He has to be the center of attention no matter what and it's obvious he will go to great lengths to ensure this.

25. First off, T.O. is a big mouth and has succeeded in alienating himself from other football players because of this. He has brought all of the negative media attention on himself. However, being an ER nurse, the man has real problems. He is a human being and for all you out there wishing death on another, who raised you and taught you your value system. I would like to think there is some shred of decency in T.O. and in all of you ill-wishers. Personally, I hope he gets the help he needs, makes amends, and uses his God-given talent professionally.

26. Life isnt that bad. That was just a cop out. If he really wanted to kill himself he should have jumped off of a building or something. Pills is the easy way out. He just wants attention and you all are giving it to him. Big Time.

27. Suicide is so selfish. No regard to your family or friends and the worry and pain you put them through. Its sad but the thought that maybe he wants people to feel sorry for him has crossed my mind.
