Terrell Owens Attempts Suicide

Terrell OwensDallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on pain medication Tuesday night, The Associated Press reports this morning, citing a police report.

According to the report, Owens even put two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived and also told rescue workers he was "depressed."

KTVT in Dallas reported that a woman named "Etheridge" -- most likely his publicist, Kim Etheridge -- called police at 7:51PM Tuesday night to report a suicide attempt. The station also reported that Owens took 35 pills.

Owens fractured a bone in his hand in a game on September 18 and had to have a plate screwed into his hand to help it heal properly.

The Cowboys have scheduled a news conference for this afternoon.

31. #4 This is actually not a lie. Go to the MSN websit; they got the report right from the assoicated press who obtained a copy of the policy report. Owens was asked if he was trying to harm himself and he answered yes. You are correct he did have an allergic reaction to the pain meds, but that was a few days ago. This story is actually true.

33. I don't think it had anything to do with getting attention. My mom tried to commit suicide with pills too. She was unconscious when the paramedics took her. I was almost 6 yrs old,and I was the one that let them in the apt. She had gotten into argument with my stepfather who wasn't married at the time. My mother was only 23 at the time.

I am very disturbed by the callousness of people here. Please have compassion for people that are in pain. I definitely do. Depression is a serious mental illness. My maternal grandfather killed himself by shooting himself in the head. He was a lifelong alcoholic and had hepatitis C too.....his liver was almost gone.

Depression is no joke. It can affect you mentally and physically. I have a history of Depression and Anxiety myself...with my history of Dyslexia and Dyspraxia and special eduation that led me to have very low self esteem and be very insecure. I have compassion for others that have mental health issues.

39. I've had family and a friend do it and have seen the pain left behind. It's probably not even true that he did it but I still feel suicide is selfish.

43. This is timely. My "best friend" just killed herself last Thursday and I can tell you I don't feel sorry for her for one minute. She's so selfish, she has a 3 year old daughter. I'm so mad right now I can't cry or feel anything but mad. She had a dozen poeple she could have ask for help, I would have done anything in the world for her. But some asshole dumps her and she can't cope. SO I think this guy is an idiot, life is not easy. But you can't just drop out of life and forget about those people that love you and the ones that depend on you. Suicide is the most selfish stupid piece of shit thing anyone can do.

44. This is amazing. David Hasselhoof's daughter (wealthy and privileged) allegedly attempts suicide and gets on outpouring of grief. Now Terrell Owens (also wealthy and privileged) does the same thing and he's a loser who should just suck his problems up. I really don't get the people who post here.
