Clarity in "Chaos"?

Chaos: Click to watchCould a horror movie have saved Natalee Holloway's life?
The creators of the brutal film "Chaos" make the bold statement that yes, their film could have. Though "Chaos" is not inspired by Holloway's disappearance, the movie is being promoted as an unsettling warning to young women and their parents -- and that stance is causing some controversy.

"The movie is so terrifying and horrific to a young girl, we don't think any young girls who see the movie would leave a bar with two strangers," says producer Steven Jay Bernheim. The movie follows two young women who venture to a rave in the woods. They leave the party with a drug dealer to score some ecstasy, and quickly become the pawns in a psychotic gang's sick game. The two suffer through torture, rape and murder and, as some reviews have noted, not in that particular order.

Taking a grisly movie and positioning it as a cautionary tale was definitely a risky gamble, but the filmmakers believe the violence was a necessary evil, saying not enough is learned from cable or network news alone. "The cable shows show the beginning and they show the end. They show nice pictures of Natalee Holloway as a cheerleader and then they show suspects being arrested," says Bernheim, "We show the middle part, the horror and torture in-between that victims really go through." To them, the excessive violence is how to leave an impression.

Director/writer David DeFalco is ready to defend his baby as well, telling TMZ, "People give us slack that that's just our excuse for making a sick movie, but I don't see how anyone can deny that it's gonna affect you ... [it] may actually teach you something about real evil."

Though horror movies are typically aimed towards a young male demographic, Bernheim and DeFalco hope the media attention will make a few more parents pick up "Chaos," which just landed on DVD this week.

196. Make it your business to keep alert on films like this. It is your responsibility to protect yourself only and make sure that others are informed by good information and not your excessive opinion. Yes a movie like this could save lives. Just be aware enough to make the right decision to view it or not.

206. Warnings in the form of tales are nothing new. Ancient oral traditions have given warnings to fellow tribal members as well as those outside the village. Only in this day and age, nothing will help or serve as a warning. If anyone wants to do something violent to women or girls, nothing could stop them. It doesn't matter if they leave with them or not. We have seen it in the news where these guys will follow and grab women right out of their homes. I feel that stories like these cannot be taken as warnings, but more as a stimulant to the brain. Not to cause panic but to make you aware and thinking about any given situation. It's true that too many people just drop off the face of the Earth, and nothing as simple as a video or written story can stop that. Sad but true.

207. I've seen the movie and plain and simple it's a bad movie. Sorry mad dave or whatever. I love horror flicks but this one is just gore on gore. No different than, dare I say it? Last House on the Left, oops! Rent both if you're glutton for punishment. Watch them both and you decide. They're both available on DVD. Please do this BEFORE you show it to your children. I guarantee you won%u2019t want them to watch either of these films. Although I%u2019m sure they%u2019d love it if you said yes, but in the long run they%u2019ll end up wondering what the hell is wrong with their parents.

208. This movie was NOT made to be a cautionary tale. It is a blantant rip off of the 1974 film "Last House on the Left". If you bother to actually pick up the DVD and watch the movie, then all the extras, as well as the commentary it paints a very incriminating picture of both the director and producer of the films as a couple of sleaze bags. In the commentary for the film, they even ADMIT to saying that the "cautionary tale" disclaimer at the beginning of the movie wsa tagged on as an after thought. They are just trying to market the f*** out of this movie and get as much recognition as they can.

And the less said about the director going around shirtless in the L.A. Morgue talking about how he is "the demon" and informing us that people die everyday, the better.

Just let this movie die.
