"The View" -- Who Wears the Pants?

Make no mistake about it: Barbara Walters runs "The View," and if you don't believe it, just ask her. Sources connected with the show tell TMZ that Barbara is going out of her way to make it clear to everyone, including Rosie, that she's The Man. And that's one reason that Barbara has been on the show nearly every day since Rosie debuted. But it's utterly obvious to everyone connected with the show that Barbara is asserting herself to all and sundry both backstage and on the set.

By contrast, Rosie has been on her best behavior. Our spies say that, during commercials, her Rosie-ness navigates the audience, posing for pictures with audience members and generally playing nice. Barbara, on the other hand, has been all business, all power, all the time – and she wants to keep it that way.

Britney's Career In the Danger Zone?

Britney Spears wants to do everything she can to help hubby Kevin Federline get his hip-hop career off the ground, but music industry sources tell TMZ that in doing so she could be putting her own career in jeopardy. And even though she's reportedly contributing her voice to a duet called "Crazy" on K-Fed's album, the same sources say that doing that duet could seriously hurt Britney's prospects -- just like it did for Whitney Houston. "Not that [Britney] was churning out hits," says one recording-industry vet, "but it's very reminiscent of what happened to Whitney after the baby and 'Something in Common'."

Indeed, after Whitney and Bobby recorded that 1993 collaboration, Whitney -- who not a year earlier had put out one of the biggest singles of all time, "I Will Always Love You" -- never quite recovered. Besides her manifold personal problems, her musical production also stalled, and though she had two more #1 singles in the Nineties, she's fallen far from the glory of the Eighties and early Nineties. As for Britney, she doesn't have a musical mentor like Clive Davis to guide her through the rough creative patches, so it could be an ever rougher road ahead for Britney than for Whitney.

Eva and Tony Call It Quits – For Real

After a day of rumor, suggestion, and speculation, now it's official: Eva Longoria and NBA star Tony Parker are finished as a couple. "They did break up. It's amicable," says a source to People magazine. "It's distance and demanding careers and not living in the same city. It didn't happen yesterday. It's been going on for a while."

Earlier in the day, a source from the San Antonio Spurs, Parker's team, had said the break-up rumors weren't true, and Longoria's rep Liza Anderson had said that the two were "going through a very difficult time." The pair met in November 2004 and confirmed their coupledom by August 2005.

Party Favors: Scarlett Johansson Is "Sexiest Woman Alive" ... Robin Williams Says Mel Was "Wake-Up Call" ... "Nip/Tuck" Slices Into Scientology

Supplanting the bootylicious Jessica Biel as Esquire magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive" is the curvaceous Scarlett Johansson. The 21-year-old actress isn't sure how she feels about the crown, however, and would like people to recognize her, um, renal attributes as well. "What about my brain?" she asks. "What about my heart? What about my kidneys and my gallbladder?" ... Robin Williams says that Mel Gibson's DUI arrest helped push him into getting help for his drinking problem. "If you're violating your standards faster than you can lower them, time to go away," he tells Access Hollywood. "Well, if (rehab) was good enough for him, I'll go." ... FX drama "Nip/Tuck" is pulling back the sheets on Scientology, says the LA Times, in its storylines this season, but it's not trying to skewer the often-controversial religion. Creator Ryan Murphy says he's not in the Church, but he was curious about it – and has educated his writing staff on the religion's tenets and beliefs.

31. Rosie,
You go girl! I have never been able to stomach the View until you showed up! You have taken a fluff fluff soccer mom show and made it real. It is something the rest of us can relate to. Keep up the good work!

36. When they fired Star I said that I wouldn't watch the Vew,,,,out of human curiousity I have. I will admit I have laughed at many things that have come out of Rosie/Joy's mouth! The one thing that I haven't been able to digest is.....Rosie talking about the children waking up in the middle of the night and she went to care for them, BUT BEFORE SHE DID SHE HAD TO GET A PAIR OF UNDERWEAR OUT OF HER DRAWER (ONLY TO DISCOVER THEY WERE KELLY'S MATERNITY DRAWERS).....that's okay and funny (they fit)......but, then in the next few minutes SHE'S TALKING ABOUT THE KIDS COMING IN THE BED TO SLEEP WITH HER (AFTER A NIGHTMARE, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND).....BUT, MY QUESTION IS .....ROSIE, DO YOU ALWAYS SLEEP WITH NO DRAWERS? IF SO, YOU ARE SENDING A BADDDDDD MESSAGE TO THE PUBLIC AND YOUR CHILDREN! Also, quit talking about your children asking if "ya'll do it"! Come on! I have a 7 yr. old granddaughter, and she sure doesn't ask if her Paw-Paw and I do it!

38. It is called the VIEW and Rosies views are off the wall on a lot of subjects. She she seems to run her mouth on every subject. She is loud obnoxious and opionated. Pushy and rude are her tactics. Leave that chair empty. That is my VIEW.

40. Ah, The View couple of words - HATE IT. I hate it more with Rosie Smartmouth on it.

Brittany Spears- was a flop as a singer before and she is not doing to good as a mom now. That young lady needs to get her personal life together and get rid of that loser of a husband. As for her making a come back, I doubt it. She is a mother and that isn't appealing to the young people today. Seeing her on stage as big as she is and trying to act as she did before would be just gross!!! Besides I don't think was ever that hot of a singer. It was her looks mostly that got her where she is. And believe me there are hundreds of better talented young decent ladies out there that just need a chance.

41. Rosie's been on her best behavior? After what she said about radical Christianity being as dangerous as radical Islam, who could possibly take her seriously? You lose all credibility when you make such asinine statements like that. But it's kind of scary that the audience applaused when she said that though.

Britney still sings? It's been about six years since she was even a thought in my head.

I guess I don't have enough time on my hands to keep track of Tony Parker's dating status. In fact, why would I give a rat's rear about ANYONE'S dating status unless it directly impacts mine?

I don't even know who Scarlett Johansson is. Has she been in a movie? That's some pretty ugly eye makeup she's got going on there. If people call that sexy then there is hope for everyone.

42. I feel that this is the wrong place for Rosie. She tries to take over and even said the other day "Hey, I'm supposed to be the host of this show". I hope Barbra will keep Rosie in her place - or put her out of it completely. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

43. I believe Rosie was out of place when she identified the Christians with the Ratical Muslims. If she has a beef with Christians then she should take it up with them in person. Her problem isn't with Christians anyway, it's with God. She doesn't like God to tell her what she is doing is wrong. But then we are all alike. We all want to do our own thing and still expect to be blessed. Rosie, by your statement I can tell you, you are now much more in the prayers of all believers then you were before. Watch and see what God will do in your life that will be stunning and marvelous. God loves you Rosie and he wants you.

44. I rarely watch " Veiw " and I belive that Walters will be the resond for the show .

45. View - don't watch, I work but don't think I'd like hearing all the catty comments. As for Britney - I really don't think her working with her husband will do much to her career either way. Whitney could sing--what pipes! But then she got mixed up with drugs which was the real derailer in her career.

These celebs that stay in the limelight even when they don't do anything - they aren't or don't sing, act, etc... must be paying their PR agent big bucks to keep their name out there long after their spot light fades.
