Kim Basinger Arraigned

BREAKING NEWS: Kim Basinger has been arraigned on contempt charges. Former Hubby Alec Baldwin triggered the case by alleging that Kim is guilty of a laundry list of violations in their ongoing custody dispute. Among Baldwin's allegations -- that Basinger blocked his visitation rights, blocked his rights to speak with his daughter on the telephone and failed to notify him when the child suffered an injury.

Basinger pled not guilty through her lawyer, Neal Hersh. The actress did not appear for the arraignment.

The former couple has been locked in an epic custody battle over 10-year-old Ireland. Baldwin has alleged Basinger is thwarting his ability to parent. Basinger has said, right back at you, Alec.

Basinger faces 12 counts of contempt. Each count carries a maximum penalty of $1,000.

62. Having been involved in a bitter ugly custody dispute (let's not go there....) I can say with some confidence that at least one of these people is a horse's ass. I'm not at all convinced both are, nor am I interested in figuring out who. the only one the answer to that question matters to is their daughter, and I only hope to god that she's got a good head on her shoulders and a good therapist on speed dial. She =will= need both!

63. Here we have the typical war between the sexes fomented and promulgated by (these days) the government. Everybody loses, especially the child.

Government structures must be changed or eliminated that cause such things to happen. There is shared parenting legislation aorund the country at the present moment. Such legislation will put back some semblance of equality between the sexes and for the children of separation and divorce.

The government should charge itself with a crime for allowing itself to engender such warring and destruction. It lines the pocketbooks of pawyers and corrupt psychologists who in thier spinelessness for integrity seldom mention the feeding frenzy for which they belly up to the trough.

What difference does it make unless or until systems and structures are changed whether she hit him or he hit her. This is just another spectator sport as though we were all seated at the Colluseum watching and enjoying the carnage.

64. I thought Alec was going to move out of the United States.

His daughter would be better off if he moved to Mars...and took Kim with him.

65. I agree that Alec Baldwin is a creep. But he is the father of Ireland and also has the right to his daughter. I think Ms. Basinger did do what she was accused of. She is not a fair person, DOnt get me wrong I think it must have been hell living with Alec, But even bad people love their children...They do have that right,,,.in this case if they had equal custody, I dont understand why Ireland is with Ms. Basinger all the time...I do believe she is influencing her daughter to turn against her father. Because I cannot see any reason why Mr. Baldwin will complain at all. So in my opinion I hope they found out the truth ...if they prove that she did block visits and communication between Alec and his daughter, then she does deserve to go to jail. I mean if you are alec and that was done to you, do you think that is fair?

66. I have no idea what has gone on between these too. However, I strongly believe fathers have just as much of a right to parent their children and have a relationship with their children as mothers do. If it is true that the mother is getting in the way of the father's rights, the father should take full advantage of the legal system to establish these rights. If anyone is hurting the child, it is the parent who is acting on their own, selfish motivations.

67. Who sincerely cares about these two yahoos. What I would like to know is on what planet exactly did Mark P. originate? He is so far left of left that if the world was flat he would be floating in outer space. AMERICA, the vast right wing conspiracy, ain't that right Markie Boy? Markie Boy, don't you just yearn for the days when Communism was the in thing? Ah, those were the days, right Markie?

68. I battled my ex-husband in and out of court for over 13 years. I believe he was/is a complete nut. I fought him in court, mostly him taking me to court on frivolous "she's denying access to the child" charges. Charges that weren't true. HOWEVER, if I had it to do all over again, I would handle the nut completely differently because my child is psychologically messed up. He's a teen now who suffers schizophrenia-type behavior and fueled by much anger and isolation. THE CHILD ALWAYS THE VICTIM.

If Baldwin were a loving father, he would lay back and be patient. If Baysinger were a loving mother, she would try to work it out on some level with Baldwin. If not, maybe the child needs to live with someone else. Alec and Kim, listen up before it's entirely too late, for the sake of your little girl.

69. You guys are right. If what Alec has said is true, what do these people expect him to do. Just go away and pay his child support and forget about having any emotional tie to his child because he's a man and men just don't have the ability ot have emotional ties to to their children. What a bunch of horse hocky. If she's keeping his child away from him then something should be done. This type of thing happens to dads all over the US and time the court system is lopsided and always favors the mother. It's time the courts realize its just as important for fathers to see and be with their children as it is for their mothers and if mothers try to block the limited amount of time a father does get, penelties in the form of additional visitation and even a change of custody, should be swift.

70. All of you people get a grip, willya? Most celebrities lives are just real-live freakshows. Go worry about something important. Sheesh.

71. This is pathetic. Why can't people put their child's needs ahead of their need for revenge and control. Baldwin and Basinger are pathetic.
This is a lesson for people who do not have children yet... pick the person VERY carefully that you chose to procreate with... be VERY, VERY picky.
I wish they would both lose custody and never get to see her again.

When she is 18, I'll bet she tells them both to go get screwed.

72. They are both control freaks. I hope they soon calm down for the kid's sake.
She must be embarassed to death.

73. These are the same idiots that want to tell you who to vote for and how the country should be run. If this issue is resolved by 2008 these two will have absolutely nothing to do. I'm not even sure SNL would have Mr. Baldwin back as a guest at this point. Sad...

74. Alec Baldwin is a pig for the way he behaves toward the mother of his child. He has control issues, like so many dry alcoholics.
Once the daughter hits her teens, in a few short years, she will pick who she prefers to spend time with.
This is all so sordid and stupid, Alec is just doing this to hit Kim hard. Ash-ole.

75. Is there a GRANDPARENT or Other family that could take this poor child from BOTH of them? How selfish! From the home to the papers...this child will remember all the crap....therapy...hope she's already attending, because she'll need it! If I were the judge, both parents would be required to take anger management and a parenting class....Give Ireland her own home, her name, and let each parent come to visit her!! 3 days/nights on 3 off! Stupid people!
