Madonna and Child

MadonnaMadonna has reportedly added another member to her brood and adopted a one-year-old boy from the impoverished African country of Malawi.

The mother of two chose the boy from a group of 12 children that were specially chosen from four orphanages prior to her arrival. And you thought getting into Hyde was difficult!

A Malawian government official said Madonna had wanted a girl but changed her mind two weeks ago. Princess Lourdes can rest easy.

Her Madgesty has pledged $3 million to fund the Raising Malawi center which will support programs for 1000 orphans, many who have lost their parents to AIDS. Madonna will also fund another $1 million for a documentary about the plight of the nation's children.

As of yet, there is no word on the baby's name.

But now Madge's camp is saying the adoption has not taken place.

Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told Us Weekly "I can confirm Madonna is in Malawi on a private visit. She is building an orphanage and child care center and is involved in other initiatives geared toward helping children orphaned by AIDS thru the Raising Malawi organization. She has not adopted a baby despite reports that she has."

31. Oh, and as you are frantically one-finger typing your response to me and sweating like a pig trying to come up with more than just the four curse words you know, I leave you with this - as my grandma always said, "let the asshole have the last word." As I shall!

32. Publicity stunt or no, I understand it is currently IN VOGUE to adopt babies from around the world...And, I say, GO FOR IT!! Nothing wrong with taking care of a child and giving them a better life than they would EVER get living in the impoverished nations that they presently reside in.

33. Oh, look whose talkin now. Boy you sure change your attitude from your response to my first post. Now your trying to be all high and mighty and take the high road. Let me tell you something. I have a degree, am well educated and am on here posting my opinon just like everyone else. Its assholes like you that respond with some smart ass comment to our opinions like you did in post no. 22 to try and start shit with people and to try and get a rise out of them. And for your information, as far as who I am, its none of your god damn business however I could be your worst nightmare if need be. I am and always will be very self confident but its rejects like you who always want to start shit that piss me off. I simply made a statement and did not ask you for your smart ass remark. So now, who needs the attitude adjustment???? Apparently not me. MAYBE YOUR BIPOLAR or something. And excuse me, but I have never lived in a trailer my entire life however you sound like you speak from experience. PS: MSNBC also states that TOMKAT may be pregnant again. I suppose you believe that one too. Do me a favor and get lost in cyber space loser.

37. IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MUSIC. IT'S NOT ABOUT THE PAST. IT'S ABOUT THE HEART. CHILDREN IN AFRICIA ARE DYING OF DISEASE AND POVERTY DAILY. IT IS GOOD TO SEE PEOPLE OF PRIVLEDGE THINK ABOUT MORE THEN THEMSELVES. I AM PROUD FOR THIS BLESSED CHILD. MADONNA IS A GOOD MOM AND HER HUSBAND IS A GOOD DAD. THEIR HEART IS IN THE RIGHT PLACE. THEY HAVE OPENED THEIR HEART TO A CHILD IN NEED. I WISH OTHERS WOULD DO THE SAME. ALAS THOSE THAT CAN WILL NOT AND THOSE THAT DO ARE OPEN TO THE MEDIA SLAM-DUNK. THANK GOD FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A HEART. PEACE BE WITH THIS CHILD AND PEACE BE WITH ANY ONE WHO ADOPTS.

39. And to those saying why couldn't she adopt from America....have you forgotten she lives in the UK now and has no desire to reside in the US again? Why would she bother with an American orphan?

Posted at 4:13PM on Oct 4th 2006 by duhneece

That is true, Madge does live in the UK now. So in all reality she COULD of adopted a child from the newest 3rd world nation, Southern California, Mexico.

We are soon to be with out ALL emegerncy medical services thanks to Mayor Reconqueista. Her money would of come in handy here.

41. What disturbs me about celebrities is their view of the world is so skewed. While they go to these countries to see their plight and claim concern their acts are totally self serving. They arrive on a private jet, stay at the most expensive hotels and eat at the best restaurants. How about flying coach and staying at Motel 6? Then use the money you would have spent chartering a private jet and the rest and give that money to charity. No. They want to live how they live and then complain that the American government doesn’t give enough of our money. Perhaps taking 60% of her millions in taxes wouldn’t hurt her that much, but it would sure ding the rest of us in the wallet.

44. Good for her.

It's wonderful to see celebrities using their resources to make the world a better place. Better late than never. At least she's trying... unlike so many who only party and indulge their whims.

45. Maybe Brad Pitt inspired her African involvement when he had dinner with her and Guy in London earlier this year.

It's amazing that some people want to criticize others who are out there trying to make a difference in the world.
