Madonna has reportedly added another member to her brood and adopted a one-year-old boy from the impoverished African country of Malawi.
The mother of two chose the boy from a group of 12 children that were specially chosen from four orphanages prior to her arrival. And you thought getting into Hyde was difficult!
A Malawian government official said Madonna had wanted a girl but changed her mind two weeks ago. Princess Lourdes can rest easy.
Her Madgesty has pledged $3 million to fund the Raising Malawi center which will support programs for 1000 orphans, many who have lost their parents to AIDS. Madonna will also fund another $1 million for a documentary about the plight of the nation's children.
As of yet, there is no word on the baby's name.
But now Madge's camp is saying the adoption has not taken place.
Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told Us Weekly "I can confirm Madonna is in Malawi on a private visit. She is building an orphanage and child care center and is involved in other initiatives geared toward helping children orphaned by AIDS thru the Raising Malawi organization. She has not adopted a baby despite reports that she has."

Maybe Brad Pitt inspired her African involvement when he had dinner with her and Guy in London earlier this year.
It's amazing that some people want to criticize others who are out there trying to make a difference in the world.
So all the news stories are saying she did not adopt. Which is it? Anyone really know??

Brad and Guy are friends, since they did Snatch together quite a while ago. If Modonna is copying Angelina, all I have to say is, I'd rather see our stars finding it trendy to give to charities and fight epidemics than doing drugs and being in and out of rehab! Whatever the motivation, it's getting done. I hope this trend trickles down to all people, wouldn't be nice to give to a celebrities' charity than blow money trying to dress like them and look like them?

Madonna has cleared up rumors she and husband Guy Ritchie are planning to adopt a child by revealing she's actually planning to play mom to an African village.
Madonna has revealed, through her aides, she has much bigger plans.
In a statement released Friday, a spokeswoman says, "Actually she is adopting a village of children. ... Madonna is participating in the building of a school and home for hundreds of kids in Malawi, Africa, and that is her current passion and commitment."

WTF...why oh why must you adopt children of color? It is the worst form of cultural genocide. "oh lordy white massa gonna save the little picaninnies! Anit that great?" You want to build hospitals and orphanages, good for you, but LEAVE OUR CHILDREN ALONE! WHY DON'T YOU ADOPT WHITE KIDS FROM SOME SH*THOLE EASTERN EUROPEAN COUNTRY? Whenever I see these white people with their little "pets" I want to throw up. You ought to be ashamed. Adopt in your own race there are plenty of white children that need to be "saved".
Why do these "stars" feel they have to go to Africa to get a child? There are plenty of children right here in the United States that are poverty-stricken. Why can't they help their own people. I'm getting sick and tired of all the who-ha about adopting children from 3rd world countries. Please, please, please help your own people. Adopting one child from Africa or Cambodia is only helping one child. There are still many others that will always need help. Charity starts at home. Can we please start helping our own people???? PLEASE?
Do you guys even look at each other's comments before you post? Obviously some of you do, but clearly not all. We get it. More than half of you think she did it for publicity. Quite a few of you recognize that she didn't actually adopt a child. Many of you think she should ignore the third-world-country-disease-stricken-starving children so she can adopt a domestic child who already (as someone pointed out) has the government on his/her side. Many others think she isn't giving enough or depriving herself enough, because clearly it is only the people with millions who should be responsible for upholding the world of charity.

Seriously, if you have nothing new to say, don't say anything. If you aren't sure, READ THE OTHER POSTS. And for those of you who are taking this as yet another opportunity to trash the rich people who are actually doing something, just not enough to satisfy you, take a look at your own lives. Do you stay at the Motel 6 when you could stay at a Holiday Inn, just so you can give that extra fifty dollars to charity? Would you pass up the chance to fly first class, just so you could give the extra money to charity? What a bunch of hypocrites. Not all of you, for sure, but there is nothing I am more tired of than people ragging on the celebrities for not giving "enough". If they give one million, why didn't they give two. If they give three million to a third world country, why didn't they give it to a charity here. If they give it to a charity here, why aren't they actually doing hands on work. If they are doing hands on work, why aren't they giving money. GIVE IT UP! Never in my life have I seen so many holier-than-thou character judges than the people who post here. Why are you here? Shouldn't you be off saving someone with every spare dime you have? You seem to expect that of everyone else.

Would you want to stay at the ophanage and hold out for someone with your matching skin color??? I don't think so!!!

I suspect Madonna has a blood feud going on with Angelina Jolie which can only be resolved by them both adopting enough black kids to form a basketball team to play each other.
