Gibson In Control and Sober

Mel Gibson has not been drinkingMel Gibson is not downing brewskys. Gibson's über-publicist Alan Nierob tells TMZ news reports that his client was seen at a bar drinking beer are "absolutely untrue." And sources tell TMZ all indications are that Gibson has not had a drink since his drunk driving arrest last July.

Days after the arrest, during which Gibson went on an anti-Semitic tirade, Nierob said Gibson was reaching out to the Jewish community for "one-on-one discussions" to find "the appropriate path for healing." Today Nierob told TMZ Gibson has been "a man of his word." Nierob says Gibson has come face to face with some Jewish leaders, though he would not disclose their identities.

A source who has frequent contact with Gibson told TMZ that the actor "feels like he's more in control of his life."

16. #13, yes us Christians make mistakes, but saying all that sh*t is beyond just making a mistake. Some people say stupid stuff when they are drunk, it's true. BUT, alcohol is not an excuse. I know people deal with their alcohol in their own way. I personally think we say more what is on our mind when we are drunk....atleast I did when I used to drink. I'm not accepting that excuse. He needs detox & THERAPY.

17. If any of you has been married to an alcoholic or has had someone you loved horribly injured or killed by a person who drove drunk, you would agree that claiming to be clean and sober & then lying to cover up continued drinking is an awful thing. Hopefully, you will never suffer through those circumstances as I have (both).

18. If this lying, druken, bigoted turd is an example of a good Christian, then all you decent Christians should rise up and read him out of your church.. He's an even more disgusting specimen of the human race than even Tom Cruise--and that's really something. I guess his wife is "a goiod Christian" too, otherise she'd drop him in a minute for his behaviour with all the whores he hangs out with--unlesss she's one herself. Pur, unadulterated filth.

20. A man can not be set free until he takes responsibility..once done it is man's job to find forgiveness and help for those in need.
Mel has taken responsibility, I find forgiveness and many are offering help...way to go!

21. ok, check this out:

If you saw Mel drinking in some bar, would you take pictures? Of course you
would, that way you could back up your story that you saw Mel Gibson drinking!!

now, please tell me why there haven't been ANY pictures of him supposedly drinking at this bar in Austin??? maybe, just maybe people are making it up, hoping to get their "15 minutes". does any one else out there see my point? there were pictures from the night he got arrested, wouldn't there be pictures if he was really out drinking again??

22. So much hate, in such a little man, sad really.
God love you Maven.

23. LOL, dam Maven that was hilarious...I do feel very sorry for that Devoted Idiot Fan, Lisa..she must got some issues looking up to someone like him, god knows what she does when shes drunk, we can only imagine what comes out of her mouth and how many people she trys to kill. When I get drunk, along with everyone else I know, we speak the truth on how we feel because are inhibitions are gone, exactly what Mel did. That poor dumb girl Lisa needs to get a new role model.

25. 1998 - Total alcohol-related traffic fatalities - 15,936
44 deaths per day
1 death every 33 minutes
38.4% of total 41,480 traffic fatalities were alcohol-related
Compare to: 1982 - 24,103 alcohol-related deaths (57.3% of 42,065 total deaths)

1998 had 33.8% fewer alcohol-related fatalities than 1982

1997 - Percentage of drivers who died with a blood alcohol level of .10% or above, by age:
16-20 years - 26%
21-30 years - 43%
31-40 years - 46%
41-50 years - 36%
51-60 years - 22%
> 60 years - 8%

After years of gradual improvement, fatalities in alcohol-related crashes are on the rise nationally. In 2002, more than 17,000 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes on the nation's highways, representing a death every 30 minutes. An estimated 258,000 people were injured in crashes where police reported that alcohol was present – an average of one person injured approximately every two minutes.

"Impaired drivers represent one of our nation's greatest threats," said NHTSA Administrator Jeffrey W. Runge, M.D. "There is no excuse to lose more than 40 lives a day, especially when it is 100 percent preventable."

There were 16,694 alcohol-related fatalities in 2004 – 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.

I'll keep posting stats until you catch on. This is not about Mel's popularity. It's about the fact that drunk driving can result in death. His own death OK, someone else’s death not OK.

26. Maven, John, if the two of you weren't so full of hate, you might be funny. Your opinion of me really doesn't matter, because I know I'm right, and that's all that matter. Now because I have a life and can't argue a mute point with the both of you enjoy your night. Remember jealousy, envy, and hate only leads to a miserable life.

A Devoted Mel Fan

PS. Try getting out more, and deal with real people. Let go of your insecurities. I know that writing comments where people from all over the world can read them makes you feel powerful, but it only shows your immaturity. The two of you really need to grow as people.

28. Too bad Mel didn't join up with Robin Williams in rehab. It would have been FUN to be a fly on that wall. REGARDLESS of whether or not Mel decides to get and STAY CLEAN and SOBER, I am going to a meeting tonight!

29. Lisa, and all the rest of you goddamn celebrity-sated losers: If some drunk--even a celebrity--were to mow down one of your loved ones (if you have any) you'd be singing a diffetent tune.

I'm goddamn sick of you people who excuse away celebrities caught driving while drunk. It's my wish that ANY of them--and that includes that Gibson prick and that Hilton c**t--should kiss a tree and kill themselves before they kill an innocent party.

And it's going to happen, sooner or later.

Drunken drivers are like child molesters in that they are irremediably incurable, and should be treated as such.

Let's see how long it takes "repentent Mel" to get behind the wheel totally besotted, and take a life. I hope to hell it's his own!

As long as it's not YOUR life or anyone YOU love, Lisa, dare I anticipate a comment from you asking for understanding?

Christ, yuou celebrity ass-kickers make me f***ing sick!

And I kind of suspect you've gotten beind a wheel while under the influence.

I'm eagerly anticipating the day--and I know it will come--that Gibson and Hilton and a few others of their ilk kill only themselves while DUI. What a happy day that wlll be!
