61. Lisa - Mel is a very troubled man and no matter how much you worship and adore him, he needs to truly get clean and sober before he kills someone, just like anyone else with an alcohol and/or drug problem. He should not get a pass because he is a celebrity, and neither should Paris Hilton.

This celebrity-worship thing in our country really sickens me. They are human, with flaws and qualities, just like the rest of us. They should not live by a different set of rules, legal/moral/spiritual, just because they are rich and famous

I totally agree...as a Caucasian who grew up in a neighborhood that slowly turned totally Jewish, I can tell you how racist they are...their religion depends on it! THere are some truly nice ones, but now there is a right wing core which has dominated, and let me tell you THEY ARE EXCLUSIVE! 64. I'm not really sure why everyone has misinterpret my comments. Not once did I say I worship Mel. I am a fan plain and simple. Not once did I say what he did or said was right.
Remaining a fan doesn't mean that I agree with anything that he did, it means that I accept him for the human being that he is and he made a mistake. A costly one, maybe? I am not in any position as none of you are to pass judgement on him or anyone else. We have all and I mean all of us made huge mistakes in our lives. Some of you need to stop being so self righteous and take a good long hard look in the mirror. Give Mel the chance that all of us would want.

65. i am not an anti-semite. I have very close jewish friends, and am reacting to the fact that nobody, no group is perfect. As stated earlier, my Jewish friend from Harvard told me that she believed blacks as a whole to be dumb, and I stuck up for African American, so i wouldn't be wishing a pox on me , you wierdo with no powers. If I were you, i'd be happy that i was defending you.

My only point is that all people of all races have made mistakes, and have done bad things, and some are truly sorry. I am hoping that Mel is truly sorry, and it sounds like he is.
Let's give him a chance, and see...that's my point.

66. I hope he is on his way, but it just doesn't go away with a few months in rehab, having known a very person who had a very bad problem. They fought most of there life. Towards the end it was a little better, but in and out of many, many rehabs and hospitals, still was there. I hope people don't think he is cured, this will take effort on Mr. Gibsons part. It is like a demon, trying to come out when you see it in front of you, or when you have a problem. I hope people don't cover it up for his sake, that would not help him at all. Drinking from what I read 1985 this did not just come on. Now lets wait a few years and see. The truth will tell in time.

74. Only Mel knows if he is drinking. If he is an alcoholic, he will not recover until he gets honest with himself. De-nile is not a river in Africa when it comes to alcoholism. This is a dreaded disease that leaves you hopless. My prayers are with any alcoholic that is trying to get sober.
