Celebrity Feuds
McDreamy Feud: Behind the Scenes

TMZ has the inside dirt on a feud between Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington that bubbled over on the "Grey's Anatomy" set this week.
Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey
According to the NY Daily News' Rush & Molloy, Washington said "some disgusting things" and got in Dempsey's face. The National Enquirer kicked it up a notch, reporting that Washington had shoved Dempsey and choked him.

Now TMZ has new details on the dust up. We're told by sources on the ABC lot where the show is taped that production was abruptly halted yesterday. One spy says Dempsey and co-star Ellen Pompeo went to the commissary and were seen "whispering" for a while, and then Dempsey went outside and sat by himself.

One of Washington's friends tells a TMZ spy that the relationship between Isaiah and Patrick is "tense." The friend went on to say that Washington thinks Dempsey's "nice guy image is a bit of an act."

It appears execs on "Grey's" don't have a quick fix in mind. Show creator Shondra Rhimes was seen wandering around the lot during the time production was stopped.

136. Anyone, and I mean anyone who has such an anger management problem that he could be so provoked needs to get help now. I love Washington in the show but there are a lot of good actors just waiting to get their chance. Either straigthten him up or ship him out.; black or white...

137. Posted at 4:24PM on Oct 22nd 2006 by GeriAnd, I don't think our innocent little "George" should play anymore sexual scenes

May I Ask Why Not? If It Is Because Of His Sexual Prfferences; You Might Be Surprized How Many Men (And Women) On TV & In Firls Bat For The Same Team. I Think T. R. Knight Is A Sweetheart & A Great Actor.

139. Washington (Burke) and Oh (Christina) are the main reason I watch the show. All of the people I know who watch it think McDreamy is McOverrated and that Meredith is a talentless waste of space. I'm inclined to agree.

140. Seems like a lot of people are making this a race issue - which it's not. Just two over blown hollywood egos. I blame George Bush - everyone is uptight these days.

141. I think they should write Isaiah off the show. In my opinion he just committed Sucide...Acting wise that is. There appears to be an Anger Management problem with him, and its not just with the part he has onGrays Anatomy. From what I have read, he has had problems before. He certainly didn't come off smelling like a Rose. They were a Team.. but Washington couldn't play as a team member. He and Sandra Oh had me rooting for them. But I think he has a Big Ego.. and Maybe they should replace him with someone else. Don't renew his contract. Hurt him in his pocket book. That may change his attitude. It's like they say, if you can't stand the heat in the kitchen, then get out of the kitchen.. Drop him from the show. I think he owes an apology to the cast member he slandered. Makes no difference to me if that person is Gay. It's his personal life, and no one has the right to inflick personal injury to another person, no matter if they are Black, white or Gay. I'll still watch the show, but i'm not thrilled with Washington being there.

143. Joe, it's hard to say who would win the fight but easy to say who would lose? Wow! Try the process of elimination, chief. It's not rocket science. When someone flips a coin, do you think, "I don't know what side I want, but I know I don't want tails. What should I do?"

144. I saw a recent interview where the reporter remarked Mr. Washington had been named one of the sexiest men alive, and in all seriousness he said "It's about time." Arrogance has a habit of rearing its ugly head often which sounds like just happened, again.

145. My opinion is that they need to settle their differences and continue to make the show a success. The show wouldn't be the same if Dr. Burk was another "Dr. Burk". I can't see that. Christina will not survive without the real Dr. Burk.

146. This is ridiculous! Who Cares?

There are faaaaaaar more important things to discuss than tension between two overconfident actors.

And are the negative comments towards the races necessary??

147. A Cat Fight. ! Fags with over paying jobs-that hype up them as human beings are in a girly fight.

148. "Oh Gina...." you are clearly ignorant.......as expressed in the statement that phrase black gentleman is an oxymoron.
If you have not encountered black men who are gentlemen you need to get out more.....but you know what they say: birds of a feather flock together, the truth of the matter may be that you are no lady.

149. Subsequent to my matriculation from secondary school, I stood on the cusp of success, ready to embark upon a new experience: college. I considered myself an idealist. I wanted the atmosphere of my university to be this perfect society; a modern-day Utopia, if you will. In retrospect, I now realize how naive it was for me to make the assumption that everyone would be able to get along; peace, love, harmony, and all of that other sappy stuff. I realize this now, because I have heard a plethora of racist commentary since my arrival on this campus. Moreover, I saw a blatant display of racism in a public arena last week. And then I come to this website, to discuss an altercation of two talented thespians of my favorite television program, only to encounter even more racism. I was foolish enough to think that racism was "a thing of the past". I mean, I am only eighteen years of age, what did I know about real racism?? Presently, however, I realize that racism is still prevalent in contemporary society after reading a couple of people's posts. It makes me very sad to know that people to this day think of black people (my people) as inferior. Like seriously I really want to cry right now. I apologize to everyone for my post being so verbose, but I could not keep it concise without trying to convey the message that people should just be seen as people--as human beings, as God's precious creations.

150. This show is one of the best on air right now and I would hate for either one of them to fight so childishly that it would ruin the careers for themselves and the other cast members on the show. ABC alright messed up and killed off Denny who should have been left on the show now somebody else might have to leave. It's getting to be a bit ridiculous. Don't you think?
