McDreamy Feud: Behind the Scenes

TMZ has the inside dirt on a feud between Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington that bubbled over on the "Grey's Anatomy" set this week.

According to the NY Daily News' Rush & Molloy, Washington said "some disgusting things" and got in Dempsey's face. The National Enquirer kicked it up a notch, reporting that Washington had shoved Dempsey and choked him.

Now TMZ has new details on the dust up. We're told by sources on the ABC lot where the show is taped that production was abruptly halted yesterday. One spy says Dempsey and co-star Ellen Pompeo went to the commissary and were seen "whispering" for a while, and then Dempsey went outside and sat by himself.

One of Washington's friends tells a TMZ spy that the relationship between Isaiah and Patrick is "tense." The friend went on to say that Washington thinks Dempsey's "nice guy image is a bit of an act."

It appears execs on "Grey's" don't have a quick fix in mind. Show creator Shondra Rhimes was seen wandering around the lot during the time production was stopped.

61. I personally LOVE the show. It is a shame that such a successful show would have such problems. I personally think Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo make the show. Without the two of them, it would go down fast! This cast should take some clues from other very successful shows. Think 'FRIENDS'. A cast that sticks together will always be successful and remembered!

64. #47: Johnson, I don't know if Isaiah did in fact attend a prestigious university but for you to call him an uneducated fool is kind of foolish I dare say. I've watched enough E- True Hollywood stories to conclude that 70% of Hollywood celebrities dropped out of either high school or community college back in the day because they realllllyyy wanted to focus on their art. lol. So dear Johnson, take a deep breath, think of your fave white actor and realise that odds are, he or she is an uneducated fool.

65. If these actors cannot behave like adults why does it have to become about race? Of course there are black gentlemen in our country! Stop being so ignorant - the person who wrote the nasty comment that alludes to the idea that none exist and to the actors I say "grow up - get along - and be happy you are employed!"

66. We don't know the exact situation that led to the dispute. so we have no right to judge either person. Grey's anantomy is a great show and one reason it is such a great show is because of the chemestry between the actors. Hopefully everything is good between the cast members because otherwise it will reflect on their work and that would be sad.

67. A reply to #14 Gina- Patrick was not on Saved By the Bell! He is best known for his eighties movies such as "Can't Buy Me Love". Hopefully everyone on the show will work out their issues, it's one of the last good TV shows on right now, I would hate to see it go down the tubes.

70. I am so very saddened by this story. I am fans of both Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey. I believe that they both bring something to the show....and the show has done a lot for both of their fledling careers. I really hope they can set their egos aside and work out their differences.

71. If this is true Patrick Dempsy and Isaiah Washington should grow up. They both are making good money for our entertainment. They both should take a cue from Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Catrell. Rumor is that they were having "issues" with one another on the set but they weren't trying to jack one another up.

74. Obviously people don't remember when Dempsey's nose became bent, Christian Slater move! and obviously it's always a black man that can't be the Gentlemen...what nerve and ignorance....and because of that ignorance is probably exactly why IW wanted to punch Dempsey out in the first place...
IW has payed his price too...how dare you bigots make such a statement...
IW is known to be a very cordial and always a gentlemen actor....
I can't say the same for Dempsey...who has been known to be tempermental, snobbish and always a Diva...get over your Hair and maybe you can see the light...
