Celebrity Feuds
McDreamy Feud: Behind the Scenes

TMZ has the inside dirt on a feud between Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington that bubbled over on the "Grey's Anatomy" set this week.
Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey
According to the NY Daily News' Rush & Molloy, Washington said "some disgusting things" and got in Dempsey's face. The National Enquirer kicked it up a notch, reporting that Washington had shoved Dempsey and choked him.

Now TMZ has new details on the dust up. We're told by sources on the ABC lot where the show is taped that production was abruptly halted yesterday. One spy says Dempsey and co-star Ellen Pompeo went to the commissary and were seen "whispering" for a while, and then Dempsey went outside and sat by himself.

One of Washington's friends tells a TMZ spy that the relationship between Isaiah and Patrick is "tense." The friend went on to say that Washington thinks Dempsey's "nice guy image is a bit of an act."

It appears execs on "Grey's" don't have a quick fix in mind. Show creator Shondra Rhimes was seen wandering around the lot during the time production was stopped.

76. Okay, I can't be pissed anymore #74 you Said It...!
That's really how I feel...it soo sad..
and I think the industry sucks for letting it happen!
believe me I am an actor too, after you do dramatic scenes especially for long periods of time, it's like your living your character. Their characters have so much emotional trauma.
It's not easy to let it go every day after day. I filmed this movie for three months. I played a Mom who was trying to save her sons. The mother was living a very traumatic life. By the end of the filming I was so outta body. It took a while to regroup my way of thinking for everyday.

78. Maybe Isiah is a little jealous - afterall, he was up for the role of McDreamy but Patrick was chosen??????? I like both of them and I think it's absurd that mature adults can't work together without fussing like first-graders. Silly, silly!!

79. I hope that they can get through this. As far as who is the biggest star thing , everyone one of them started somewhere. Saved by the Bell was big in it's day and a job for a beginning Actor. Anyone of you would have taken that job if put in his shoes. So what if Dempsey isn't always nice. I'm not always nice and if i was hounded like he is I would be stand-offish myself. If it comes to someone leaving the show Washington can easily be replaced.Get the guy who use to play Noah on One Life to Live. He is very good-looking and a fine Actor. McDreamy is one of the reasons why this show is such a hit. I like Washington also but it wouldn't upset me if he left.

80. Rebecca,

You obviously have some issues and racial hatred. Please get some therapy or at least stop spewing your hatred online,it only makes you sound silly and immature. Besides,if you hate this show, why are you even bothering to comment ?

81. I am just not sure why people would blame Dempsey, when ONCE AGAIN, it is the black man who turns to violence.

Every report points to the fact that Washington choked Dempsey.

Well, you know what they say: "You can take the black man out of the ghetto.....".

82. I am sickened and saddened by all of the racist comments people have been posting. We are all human beings.
I p[ersonally consider myself to be 'colorblind' when it comes to race. I believe that there are good and bad people in our world.

84. Do you know what I blame this fight with Patrick Dempsey and Isiah Washington on the Grey's Anatomy set. PRESSURE! The show has been No. 1 two out of three weeks and trying to top last week's show is risky. And it's like they could be No. 1 maybe 20 to 22 more times this season if no competition or specials on sweeps months outdoes them. I think that Isiah needs to accept that Patrick is the star of the show and stay on his own footing. He and the cast will get their due respect too. He and the others need to stop this one upmanship and work as a unit on that show. I think that the egos have gone into overload lately on that show. You never saw this on-set conflict on hits like Seinfeld, The Cosby Show, ER, Friends, Cheers, Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, CSI or Law and Order. So why have it on Grey's? I think that Isiah got tired of Patrick's slick looking hair and wanted to mess it up.

85. All of you on here spewing racist crap makes me sick. This is probably one of the most diverse shows on the network having roughly 50% of leads being black and asian, and all some fans can do is turn it into a race debate? If you hate black people so much then why do you tune into Greys anatomy which puts 3 black characters in power? Why not tune into Desperate Housewives on sunday nights who painted their token black characters, the applewhites very negatively before axing them? You have betty, a neurotic shady mom who locks both her boys in the basement and tries to poison the mentally challenged one. Both sons are burglars. One was a murderer. And ABC gave them the ax when they finally realized it didnt work with the viewers? Gee, I wonder why.

As for the racist a few pages back, you cannot just deem a black guy who is visibly more successful than you are "an uneducated fool" Just because youre desperate for it to be false. No matter how insecure you are about yourself, you cant change facts.

Anyone who clings to their white skin for prestige and privilege usually does it because they have very little to offer themselves.

As for Greys Anatomy, I think everyone is human. How many of us has worked with an asshole co-worker before? everyone. Working 13 hour days on a set is no different.

I root for team George

86. For the genius who said Patrick Dempsey was on "Saved By The Bell", I do believe you meant to refer to Dustin Diamond. If memory serves me, I don't think Patrick Depmsey ever did anything (starring roles) other than "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Lover Boy". He did, however, play a supporting role in "Outbreak", in which he eventually died. What a shame... is that where his role is headed here? Why can't all the cast just grow the hell up, b/c what on earth could there be on that set worth fighting about?

87. To the brillant person who made the statement that "black gentlemen" is an oxymoron...please direct your personal comments to the person that it was intended for. Sadly, you obviously bought in to the stereotype about our Black men. Well, some are straight out ass-holes-- just like white men and any other nationality.

This is apparently a result of some misdirected work-place stress of which ALL of us working class people are at sometime faced with and, if we had the nerve, we'd probably punch a few people out ourselves.

88. Oh what a shock! Look who got violent!

89. Issaih Washington's violence and behaviour warrants him getting fired. People are making it a joke that it was a McDreamy fight. Bottom line, Washington is jealous of the attention given to Patrick and more importantly, he is a homophobic jerk. He said disgusting things to TK Knight and Patrick defended him. In fact, he is the prima donna. Patrick should be commended an not criticized. ABC needs to show Issaih that his lack of tolerance is unacceptable.

90. What is up with all the racial comments..."typical for a black man to resort to violence" yeah sure...a black kid gets bullied at school does he go home get a gun go back to school and shoot everyone up, but those white boys in columbine did...HELL NO! A black man who lost his job does he go home get a gun go back to work and fire 16 rounds in the office F**K NO! so how about you dumb racists f***ers think before you speak. and further more...the show would not be the same if anyone of the characters left. each of them balance out the show.
